Internet Safety Awareness Seminar "Internet and Family Values"
Will Gardner, CEO, Childnet International | Childnet International is an international children's charity (set up in 1995) that is working to help to make the Internet a great and safe place for children (see www.childnet.com ). As well as showcasing the incredible ways that children are using new technology for good, Childnet works to respond to the potential risks facing children via new technology, and run awareness campaigns on Internet safety, and contributes to policy development in this area.
Will Gardner has been at Childnet since October 2000, working in the area of research and policy. Will is a member of the UK Council for Child Internet Safety, and prior to this was a member of the Home Office Task Force on child protection on the Internet from its inception in 2001, and has been part of the group drawing up 'Good Practice Guidance for Industry' for chat, instant messenger, search providers, and social network providers. He also looks after the www.chatdanger.com website, and has given advice to thousands of children and adults who have contacted him via the chatdanger website on issues relating to Internet safety. Will has also given advice to a range of industry players and governments, as well as other organisations, on issues relating to internet safety. Will has run several international projects on children and the internet, including on the risks of and advice needed for interactive services, and the identification of child victims of child abuse images online. Will is a member of the UK Department for Children Schools and Families (DCSF) Cyberbullying Taskforce. He has recently headed up the work drawing up the DCSF's guidance for schools on preventing and responding to cyberbullying, see www.digizen.org. W. Hord Tipton, CISSP-ISSEP, CAP, CISA, CNSS, Executive Director, (ISC)2, and Former CIO, U.S. Department of the Interior, U.S.A. | Mr. Tipton is the Executive Director for (ISC)2, the global leader in educating and certifying information security professionals throughout their careers. A member of the Board of Directors since 2005, Tipton previously served as president and chief executive officer of Ironman Technologies, where his clients included IBM, Perot Systems, EDS, Booz Allen Hamilton and Symantec. Before founding his own business, he served for five years as Chief Information Officer for the U.S. Department of the Interior for over five years. There, he managed IT operations for 2,500 DOI offices with 3,650 IT employees, 5,800 contracted employees and an IT portfolio of US$1.2 billion.
Tipton served in a number of business roles prior to his work as a full-time CIO. He was directly responsible for balancing resource usage involving forestry, recreational programs, mineral extraction, law enforcement, and wild land firefighters throughout the United States. As director for international programs for the Minerals Management Service, he implemented a mining regulatory program in Indonesia and collaborated with Russian officials to implement improved mining processes. Before entering government service, he worked for 13 years as an engineer for Union Carbide Nuclear Corporation in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Tipton holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Morehead and a master's degree from the University of Tennessee, and in 2004, he received the Distinguished Rank Award from the President of the United States, the highest lifetime award attainable by a federal civil servant. | |

Bill J. Cotter, Director, The Society for the Policing of Cyberspace (POLCYB) | Bill Cotter has been a Director of The Society for the Policing of Cyberspace (POLCYB) since 2002. Bill is Principal of Cotter Services Inc., a Vancouver-based consulting firm providing investigation and security services. He was formerly Vice-President, KPMG Forensic. Bill joined KPMG in 1996 following a career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Canada's national police force. Throughout his twenty years with the RCMP, Bill investigated money-laundering, fraud, computer crime, child sexual abuse, extortion, criminal conspiracies and general offences.
Bill co-developed forensic computer software that has now become the most widely used tool for criminal and civil computer investigations. He developed and instructed a computer crime training course for the Canadian Police College and assisted the British Columbia Ministry of Education to raise the importance of cyber-ethics in the curriculum.
Bill is licensed in B.C. as a Private Investigator and Security Consultant. A Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Bill is Board Certified in security management by ASIS International. Bill is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He has investigated - among other improprieties - various cyber crimes that concern youth and families in Canada and other places including in Asia.
From 1990 to 1992 Bill helped the BC Ministry of Education increase teachers' awareness and capabilities as regards safe computing in the classroom. He met with Ministry officials in Victoria and also presented to teachers at in-service events in the Vancouver area.
From 1993 to 1996, on a volunteer basis, Bill worked with Surrey School Board and his daughter's primary school regarding internet safety. As a member of the Parent Advisory Council, he shared internet safety ideas with parents of school-aged children and teachers alike.
Bill Cotter is a frequent presenter to public and private sector audiences interested in preventing and detecting cyber crimes and other exploitation of vulnerabilities. | |

Noor Azimah Abdul Rahim, ACMA, CFP, President, Parent Action Group for Education (PAGE) | The Parent Action Group for Education (PAGE), was set up in September 2008, to champion the cause for maintaining the policy of the teaching and learning of science and mathematics in English in primary and secondary schools.
Whilst the initial idea was only to provide a platform for parents to voice their opinions and views on the above education policy, PAGE now appears to have made an impact on the Malaysian education scene, providing an avenue for parents to give feedback collectively, on matters concerning education, in the hope of helping to enhance the quality of the education system.
PAGE comprises a steering committee consisting of parents of Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Damansara, a support council consisting of parents of national schools in the Klang Valley and numerous supporters from all over Malaysia. We can be contacted at pagemalaysia@gmail.com.

Izham Khairuddin Head Outreach, CyberSecurity Malaysia | A linguist by training, Izham has spent the more than ten years working in the high technology and ICT sectors, namely the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MiGHT), a non-profit organization whose primary role is to enable consensus building and coordination for Industry-Government partnership in high technology, and the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), which has been given the mandate by the Malaysian Government for the coordination, promotion and development of the information technology (IT) industry and selected services in MSC Malaysia.
He is also a network member of the London-based Commonwealth Partnership for Technology Management (CPTM) Limited for the past ten years, a not-for-profit organization with a mission to enhance National capabilities for the creation of and participation in global wealth, through sound Technology Management and using Public / Private Sector Partnerships.
After a year long stint with CPTM in London, he answered CyberSecurity Malaysia's calling and is now the Head of Outreach, responsible for enhancing internet safety awareness among the Malaysian population.
Having graduated from France, Izham cherishes any possible opportunity to speak the language and never shies away from the challenge offered by a Sudoku puzzle. | |

Ms Khadijah Anuwarul Haq, Student, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seksyen 5, Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia | Born almost 15 years ago, Khadijah is the eldest of five siblings.
A self-declared world wide web's addict, she would sacrifice her sleep to enable her surf the net as this is the only time when the pc is exclusively available for her without the interruption of her siblings. Currently, internet access is rather limited (imposed by her parents) as she has to is prepare for her major exam, PMR, this coming October. She is moderately active in her school extracuricullar activities representing her school in English debate and aspires to achieve Pengakap Di Raja status in two years' time.
In her spare time, she collects books and of course reads them, paints on canvas and sketches anything that interests her, photographs (especially in black & white) exciting objects, listens to non-mainstream music, plays flute, guitar and piano and blogs on at least three blogs (one personal blog, one she co-blogs with her four best mates and the last one a serious writing blog).
She's trilingual speaking Bahasa Melayu, English and French. | |

Mohamad Nizam Kassim, GAWN GPEN Senior Analyst Cyber Safety, Outreach Department, CyberSecurity Malaysia | Mr. Mohamad Nizam Kassim is a senior analyst cyber safety of Outreach Department, CyberSecurity Malaysia. He has a degree in Power Electrical Engineering, a master degree in Finance and two security certifications - wireless hacking and network penetration testing.
Prior to that, he has involved more than six years in telecommunication industry in designing and implementing core-switched and packet-switched network, analysing and predicting mobile network traffics forecasts, implementing core-switched network monitoring system and subscribers provisioning system.
He was previously dedicated his time in wireless station tracking and triangulation techniques project and mobile phone threats assessments project.
Recently he joined the Outreach Department with one goal - relaying messages about computer and internet security to the public and enjoying his life teaching 'Power Search Techniques Using Google". | |
