Digital Forensics Course for First Responder
  6-9 January 2014
  Digital Forensics Course for First Responder in CyberSecurity Malaysia was held from 6 January to 9 January, 2014. The course was conducted to train the participants, identify and analyse digital evidence at the crime scene and also to make the participants practice in the method of seizing digital evidence.

A total of 12 participants from the private sector attended the course. The key objectives of this course were:
  1. To ensure that participants can use digital forensics methodology at their work place;
  2. To train the participants to seize, acquire and preserve digital evidence at a scene;
  3. To gain exposure to the latest digital media and storage systems as well as forensic tools;
  4. To be able to participate in discussions and meetings on matters of digital forensics;
  5. To understand the role of the earliest responders.
 
Lead Auditor ISO 27001 ISMS Course
  6-10 January 2014
  CyberSecurity Malaysia in collaboration with the National Security Council (NSC) has conducted a course under its Development of Capability and Capacity for Enforcement program for the agency of Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII). The Information Security Management System Course - ISMS MS ISO / IEC 27001:2007 Internal Auditor was held from 6 January to 10 January, 2014 at the Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor.

The course was attended by nine agencies, as follows:
  1. The Office of the State Secretary of Malacca
  2. Education Service Commission
  3. MAMPU
  4. The National Security Council
  5. Subang Jaya Municipal Council
  6. Cabinet Division, the Prime Minister Department
  7. Johor State Secretary Office
  8. Universiti Putra Malaysia
  9. Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM)
 
Working Visit of Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (SABERKAS)
  7 January 2014
  Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (SABERKAS) paid a visit to CyberSecurity Malaysia on January 7, 2014. A total of four SABERKAS delegates attended this tour, as follows:
  1. YB. Datuk Dr. Lee Kim Shin
  2. Mr. Law Seng Hoon
  3. Madam Ngui Ing Ing
  4. Miss Sharon Teo
The latest cyber threats and cyber-attacks such as phishing, malware, online harassment and online scams were highlighted to the SABERKAS delegates during the visit.

In addition, CyberSecurity Malaysia took this opportunity to work with SABERKAS on raising the level of awareness of cyber security among its members and the local community in Sarawak.
 
Study Tour of the College of Technology and Advanced Management Centre (PTPTL) Shah Alam
  8 January 2014
  The study tour of the College of Technology and Advanced Management Centre (PTPTL) Shah Alam was held on 8 January 2014 and was attended by a total of 40 students accompanied a PTPTL lecturer.

The purpose of this visit was to generate awareness to students about cyber security and help them gain exposure to the latest cyber threats. Furthermore, CyberSecurity Malaysia also highlighted to the students the safety measures that should be taken when surfing the internet.
 
Organisation for Security Advisory Committee (OSAC) Meeting
  16 January 2014
  Organisation for Security Advisory Committee (OSAC) meeting was organised by the Embassy of the United States at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on 16 January 2104. The meeting was inaugurated by the U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia Mr. Joseph Y. Yun and the participants discussed several key topics related to current cyber security issues.

Amongst the guests present at the meeting were the national security adviser, FBI agents, and special agents of the United States from Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.

In the discussion, Lt. Col. Sazali bin Sukardi (Retired), who represented CyberSecurity Malaysia, spoke about the changing cyber threats through a Malaysian perspective. He also highlighted the importance of cyber security and stressed the need for collaboration at the national and global levels. He emphasised that with the help of this collaboration cross-border cyber threats can be overcome effectively.

Apart from Lt. Col. Sazali, a Special Agent of United States from Thailand also delivered a speech in this discussion
 
Presentation of Certificate for Accreditation and Certification of CyberSecurity Malaysia 2013
  20 January 2014
  The handing over ceremony for the Certificate of Accreditation and Certification of CyberSecurity Malaysia 2013 was hosted by CyberSecurity Malaysia with the support of the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI). The ceremony was inaugurated by Hon. Datuk Dr. Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI).

At the event, a total of 23 organisations were awarded Common Criteria certification of ISO / IEC 15408, Information Security Management System certification (ISMS) ISO / IEC 27001 certification and also Malaysia Trustmark e-business validation in 2013.

At the same event, CyberSecurity Malaysia was awarded the Certificate of Accreditation MS ISO / IEC 17021:2012 by the Department of Standard Malaysia presented by the Director General of the Department of Standard Malaysia, Mdm Fadilah Darman, to CyberSecurity Malaysia Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab.

Further, a Memorandum of Understanding was exchanged between CyberSecurity Malaysia and Telekom Applied Business Sdn Bhd for the Malaysia Trustmark e-business validation service.

This event has been successful by indirectly promoting and publicising certification services offered by CyberSecurity Malaysia as well as providing recognition to the organisations that have successfully obtained these certifications from CyberSecurity Malaysia.
 
Cyber Security Awareness Program – CyberSAFE in January 2014

  Various activities in cyber security awareness program or CyberSAFE have been held throughout the first quarter 2014 to help raise cyber security awareness among public and private organizations, and communities, especially school children and adolescents. The activities have also raised various issues of cyber security and the best way to deal with these issues and prevent people from becoming victims of cyber threats.

These cyber ​​security awareness programs and initiatives promote CyberSecurity services such as Cyber999 and CyberSAFE portal. These programs are also able to generate awareness of the threats to computer and internet users, highlighting the changes in the reality of everyday life, due to the advances in communications technology.
