CERTIFIED SECURITY ANALYST (ECSA) TRAINING
  9 - 13 FEBRUARY 2015
 

CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the Certified Security Analyst Training from 9 to 13 February 2015, organized by EC-Council Academy Sdn. Bhd.

The technical training course, which was attended by 12 participants, including four from CyberSecurity Malaysia helped the participants to understand more about penetration testing. It also helped to improve their skills in conducting assessment and analysis in order to sustain the security of information systems.

At the end of the course, participants took the technical ECSA examination. All CyberSecurity Malaysia employees who took the examination obtained excellent result, exceeding the minimum passing marks. Among the CyberSecurity Malaysia employees who participated in this program were Ahmad Dahari Jarno, Kamarul Baharin Khalid, Nor Safwan Amir Salleh and Noor Asyikin Zulkifli.

 
 
OPENSYS SEMINAR 2015

On 10 February 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia took part in the OpenSys Seminar 2015, organized by OpenSys (M) Bhd. This one-day seminar was held to share various information on how to combat and deal with cyber attacks on personal accounts through ATMs.

Lt. Col Sazali Sukardi (Retired), Vice President of Strategic Research, CyberSecurity Malaysia delivered the keynote address entitled Evolving Cyber Threats on Banking and Financial Sector. In his keynote address, he stressed on the importance of cyber security, particularly in the banking and financial sector, several factors that could threaten the financial management system and banking in the technological era.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's involvement in OpenSys 2015 Seminar provided an opportunity for CyberSecurity Malaysia to provide expert views on current cyber threats to be the public.

 
 
CYBER SECURITY - PROTECTION OF CRITICAL SECTORS SEMINAR

Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism (SEARCCT) in collaboration with CyberSecurity Malaysia organized a Cyber Security - Critical Sector Protection Seminar. The seminar was held from 10 to 11 February 2015 and was supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Security Council (NSC).

The two-day workshop was held at CyberSecurity Malaysia. More than 30 participants from various government agencies and Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) organizations attended the Seminar.

Through this Seminar, CyberSecurity Malaysia had the opportunity to strengthen its relationships with various CNII agencies and organizations. In addition, it was also a platform for Agencies and CNII Organizations to share experiences and knowledge about current cyber threats.

 
 
OFFICIAL VISIT BY THE HONORABLE DATO' SRI DR. NOORUL AINUR MOHD NUR, SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE MINISTRY OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION (MOSTI) AND LAUNCHING OF CYBER FORENSICS X LAB

On February 17, 2015, the Honorable Dato' Sri Dr. Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur, Secretary General, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) made an official working visit to CyberSecurity Malaysia.

During the visit, Dato' Sri Dr. Noorul launched the Cyber Forensics X Lab, CyberSecurity Malaysia. This is the first visit by Dato' Sri Dr. Noorul to CyberSecurity Malaysia after her appointment as the Secretary General of MOSTI.

Amongst the Digital Forensics disciplines provided under the Cyber Forensics X Lab are Biometric Forensics, Embedded Device Forensics, Cloud Computing Forensics and Big Data. The laboratory is equipped with the latest digital forensics and software, which focused on state of the art and advanced technology.

The Cyber Forensics X Lab is a platform for the Research & Development & Commercialization (R&D&C) of digital forensics services by CyberSecurity Malaysia. With the Cyber Forensics X Lab, CyberSecurity Malaysia is now able to provide effective and proactive digital forensics services in Malaysia and to develop digital forensics science with the best possible technology.

 
 
SAFER INTERNET DAY 2015

On 23 February 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia with the support of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) celebrated Safer Internet Day or SID 2015 at the Royal Military College (RMC) Sg. Besi, Kuala Lumpur. The event was officiated by YB. Datuk Dr. Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).

SID celebration is organized each year in February to promote Internet safety and raise public awareness about the importance of cyber security. The official theme for SID 2015 was "Let's Create a Better Internet Together". CyberSecurity Malaysia organized various programs and activities on cyber security and safety of the Internet. The activities include lectures and workshops in cyber security, treasure hunt and spreading the messages of cyber security through local media.

During the officiation ceremony, there was a live cross-over conversation using Skype between the Deputy Minister of MOSTI and the Chairman of ID-SIRTII in Jakarta, Indonesia. SID 2015 was also celebrated in Indonesia through initiatives by one of our Smart Partners, the ID-SIRTII.

In conjunction with SID 2015 celebration, a book titled "Cyber Terrorism - Privacy & Technical Perspective" was launched. The book is collaborative project between CyberSecurity Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Melaka (UTEM).The book, which has six (6) chapters, is a compilation of a series of cyber-terrorism related research, presented from the policies and technologies perspectives in addressing the issues and problems of terrorism in cyberspace.
