CYBERSECURITY MALAYSIA APPRECIATION CEREMONY 2014
  15 JANUARY 2015
 

On 15 January 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia organized an Appreciation Ceremony. The event was officiated by YB. Datuk Dr. Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).

At the event, CyberSecurity Malaysia honored organizations for obtaining information security certifications issued by the Information Security Certification Body (ISCB), CyberSecurity Malaysia which is the national certification body for various Information Security Certifications such as the Common Criteria ISO / IEC 15408, Information Security Management System (ISMS) ISO / IEC 27001, and Malaysia Trustmark. This certification services support the two pillars of the Economic Transformation Programme, namely 'National Security and the People' and 'Catalyst Industrial Growth', to build resilience of Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) and to the industry.

In 2014, a total of 41 ICT products have been certified under MyCC Scheme, 22 Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) organizations have obtained ISMS certification and 29 e-Commerce organizations received the Malaysia Trustmark Seal.

At the same event, CyberSecurity Malaysia also recognized the contribution of the local media for their continuous support in the publication of news and information about cyber security in Malaysia. The most supportive media from six categories were given certificates of appreciation and plaques. The recipients from various categories are as follows:-

  1. Media organizations - Media Prima Group.
  2. Print media (Release) - NST
  3. Print media (magazines / periodicals) – Computerworld Malaysia.
  4. Media Online - New Straits Times Online.
  5. Broadcast media (TV) - TV 1 (RTM)
  6. Media Broadcasting (Radio) - Bernama Radio
 
 
SECOND UK-MALAYSIAN TRANSNATIONAL CRIME WORKING GROUP MEETING AND MEETING WITH INFORMATION SECURITY GROUP (ISG), ROYAL HOLLOWAY, UNIVERSITY OF LONDON (RHUL)
  27 - 30 JANUARY 2015
 

CyberSecurity Malaysia was part of the Malaysian delegation to attend the Second UK-Malaysian Transnational Crime Working Group Meeting organized by the United Kingdom High Commission in Malaysia and Meeting with Information Security Group (ISG) in London from 27 to 30 January 2015.

The two-day meeting was held at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, King Charles Street London, United Kingdom and was also attended by delegates from the High Commission of the United Kingdom and from various Malaysian agencies. CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Lt. Col Sazali Sukardi (Retired), Vice President of Strategic Research.

Among the items discussed in the meeting were the issues relating to cross-border cyber crime and cyber threat issues.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's representative also attended the meeting with the Information Security Group (ISG), at the Royal Holloway, University of London and discussed on possible joint research in cyber security related strategic areas.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in those two meetings was a privilege and a kind of recognition for CyberSecurity Malaysia's leadership, commitment and expertise in the field of cyber security.

 
 
NATIONAL CYBER SECURITY AWARENESS MASTER PLAN WORKSHOP
  28 – 29 JANUARY 2015
 

On 28 and 29 January 2015, National Security Council (NSC) in collaboration with CyberSecurity Malaysia organized a workshop to discuss the development of Master Plan for National Cyber Security Awareness (CSA).

The two-day workshop was attended by 19 organizations from various Ministries, Government agencies, NGOs and representatives of private companies that directly involved in strengthening cyber security awareness in Malaysia.

The workshop is organized to:-

  1. recap and present analysis on the overall findings from the previous workshop;
  2. synchronize and update information gathered based on inputs given by the various participating organization;
  3. present the draft of final report, approaches and structure of the master plan;
  4. get feedback from participating organizations in regards to the draft of the final report of the master plan.

By having the National Cyber Security Awareness (CSA) Master Plan, it will position Malaysia as the leading nation for cyber security awareness campaign in Malaysia, the first of its kind in the world.
