ANTIFRAUD RUSSIA 2015 CONFERENCE AND WORKING VISIT TO MOSCOW, RUSSIA

CyberSecurity Malaysia was invited to attend the AntiFraud Russia 2015 Conference and at the same time made a working visit to Russia on 1 until 4 December 2015.

CyberSecurity Malaysia delegation was headed by Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer and accompanied by Dr. Aswami Fadillah Mohd Ariffin, Vice President, Cyber Security Responsive Services Division and Mohd Zabri Adil Talib, Head of Digital Forensics.

In Russia, the delegation made a courtesy visit to the Malaysian Embassy in Moscow on 1 December 2015. At the session, a briefing on cyber security landscape in Malaysia has been made to the Hon. Dato' Hayati Ismail, Ambassador of Malaysia to Russia together with some embassy officials.

On December 2, 2015, the delegation had a working visit to the Central Laboratory of Technical Operations Data Recovery ACELab in Rostovon-Don. During the tour, CyberSecurity Malaysia made a presentation on the proposals for cooperation and strategic partnership with ACELab in developing countries Centre of Excellence in Data Recovery and explores opportunities to conduct scientific research in the field of digital forensics.

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended AntiFraud Russia 2015 Conference on 3 December 2015. The conference was organized by the Academy of Informational Systems Russia with the theme of cyber security in high technology sectors of the economy such as banking, telecommunication and electronic services. At the conference, Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia made a presentation.

Meanwhile on 4 December 2015, the delegation made a working visit to the Central Operations Research Lab Kaspersky in Moscow. Apart of reviewing the operation of the laboratory, the delegation also held a discussion with Kaspersky to explore the opportunities for collaboration as well as strategic partnerships and technical on the developing of Malware Research Center. The establishment of Malware research centers is important to strengthen the protection of cyber threats and attacks on critical information infrastructure of the country.

The invitation by Russian for CyberSecurity Malaysia to make presentations at the antifraud conference is an honor and recognition of CyberSecurity Malaysia Russia's expertise in the field of cyber security.

Meanwhile, the visit was an opportunity for CyberSecurity Malaysia to learn about data recovery techniques, strategic cooperation with Russia and strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries through cooperation in the field of cyber security.

 
 
THE 2015 FOURTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON INTERNET APPLICATIONS, PROTOCOLS AND SERVICES (NETAPPS2015), MALAYSIAN COMMUNICATIONS & MULTIMEDIA COMMISSION, CYBERJAYA

CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in The 2015 Fourth International Conference on Internet Applications, Protocols and Services (NETAPPS2015) organized by Multimedia University (MMU). It was held at the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) from 1 to 3 December 2015.

1,000 participants attended the forum which among them were the Head of Departments, Chief Information Officers, Information Technology Managers and officials from various ministries, agencies and state governments.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Dr. Solahuddin Shamsuddin, Chief Technology Officer where he delivered a presentation entitled "Staying Ahead of Evolving Cyber Threats"

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in the forum has further strengthened its position as a technical agency in the field of cyber security in Malaysia.

 
 
THE 1st ANNUAL COORDINATION MEETING OF THE ORGANIZATION OF THE ISLAMIC COOPERATION INSTITUTIONS (ACMOI), JEDDAH, KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA
  7 – 8 DECEMBER 2015
 

First Annual Meeting of the Institutions under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (Annual Coordination Meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation Institutions - ACMOI) was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on 7 and 8 December 2015. Malaysia attended the meeting as the Permanent Secretary of the Computer Emergency Response Team - Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC-CERT), CyberSecurity

Meeting sessions was divided into five (5) Committees and OIC-CERT has been appointed as Vice Chairman of the Committee on Science and Technology.

During the meeting, OIC-CERT proposed three (3) agendas which were to increase promotion of cyber security program, assist OIC members to improve cyber security and its strategic program. All agenda were accepted by the members and OIC-CERT were appointed to present cyber security strategic program at the upcoming OIC Senior Officials Meeting.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation as the Permanent Secretariat of the Computer Emergency Response Team - Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC-CERT) has acknowledged Malaysia in the international arena, especially in the technical aspect of cyber security.

 
 
ADVOCACY ILMUAN NATIONAL PROFESSORS COUNCIL, DEWAN BESAR UTEM, MELAKA

CyberSecurity Malaysia was invited to participate in the Advokasi Ilmuan Majlis Profesor Negara forum which was held at the Technical University of Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) on 17 December 2015.

This forum was organized by National Professor Council, Utusan Malaysia and TV1 RTM. It was held to share information and ideas on positive and negative impact of Social Media.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Dr. Zahri Yunos, Chief Operating Officer. Dr. Zahri was also one of the panels for the forum. Other panels were UTeM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Shahrin Sahib and Melaka Deputy Police Chief, Datuk Ruslan Hassan.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this forum provided an opportunity to promote the agency as an expert in the field of cyber security in Malaysia. In addition, it further strengthened cooperation with National Professor Council, Universities and media as cyber security initiative in Malaysia.

 
 
WORLD TRUSTMARK ALLIANCE (WTA) TASK FORCE AND ANNUAL MEETING, SHENZHEN, CHINA
  15 – 16 DECEMBER 2015
 

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended the World Trustmark Alliance (WTA) Task Force Meeting and WTA Annual Meeting on 15 and 16 December 2015 in Shenzen, China.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in both meeting is in lieu to its position as the WTA Chairman since 2014. Hence, this meeting aimed to discuss proposal presented by China.

During the meeting, CyberSecurity Malaysia reviewed the WTA Code of Conduct and introduced new WTA Governance and Policy as a baseline to continuously improve the WTA. CyberSecurity Malaysia showcased its leadership and became a committed WTA member.

 
 
TECHNICAL COLLABORATION IN DIGITAL FORENSICS BETWEEN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AUTHORITY (ITA) AND CYBERSECURITY MALAYSIA

On 26 December 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia made a working visit to the National Digital Forensics Laboratory (NDFL) of Information Technology Authority (ITA) in Muscat, Oman.

Technical discussion was held between the two agencies on matters concerning digital forensics including the Quality Management System (QMS).

On 11 October 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia and ITA, Oman had signed a MoU for collaboration in the area of cyber security. The working visit has strengthened the strategic working relationship between the two organizations..

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Sarah Khadijah Taylor, Tajul Josalmin Tajul Ariffin and Nor Zarina Zainal Abiddin from Digital Forensics Department.

This was an achievement for CyberSecurity Malaysia in the digital forensics field where CyberSecurity Malaysia expertise was recognized internationally.
