ICT SABAH 2015 SEMINAR, KOTA KINABALU, SABAH

CyberSecurity Malaysia took part in the 2015 International ICT Seminar held at Auditorium Tun Datu Mustapha, Campus Sabah, Kota Kinabalu.

The Seminar that was jointly organized by the Institute of Public Administration (INTAN), the Malaysian Cocoa Board, Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning (ABLE), Sabah State Computer Services Department and Universiti Malaysia Sabah officiated by YB. Datuk Siringan Gubat, Minister of Resource Development and Information Technology Sabah.

A total of 100 participants from various government agencies attended the seminar. Among the objectives of this seminar is to discuss the policies, regulations and laws as well as procedures in managing the government's official information, identify corrective measures and precautions to ensure the security of government information and practical practices to overcome and prevent threats from occurring leakage of classified information.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Fazlan Abdullah, Head of Government Engagement Department. He delivered a presentation entitled "A Holistic Approach For Cyber Security and Critical Information Infrastructure Protection".

The seminar was a success. It raised awareness on cyber security among participants. Moreover, it shared best practices to establish close cooperation among the agencies and the participants as a strategic cyber security approach and a platform to explore potential collaboration within the agencies.

 
 
CYBER SECURITY SEMINAR AND DESKTOP EXERCISE, BANGKOK, THAILAND

On 4 November 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in Cyber Security Seminar and Desktop Exercise organized by the Ministry of Defence of Thailand in IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok, Thailand.

This activity was collaboration between the Ministry of Defence Thailand and CyberSecurity Malaysia in conjunction with the Defence and Security 2015 that took place from 2 to 5 November 2015 in Bangkok.

The opening ceremony of the Seminar and Desktop Exercise was officiated by Deputy Secretary of Defence Thailand, Admiral Anuthai Rattarangsi.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by YABhg. General Tan Sri Dato' Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi bin Mohamed (Retired), Chairman of the Board of Directors, CyberSecurity Malaysia who delivered a presentation entitled "Cyber Security Collaboration between Thailand and Malaysia."

A total of 250 participants attended the Desktop Exercise. They represented Ministry of Defence Thailand and critical information infrastructure agencies in Thailand. Among the objective of this program was to provide an opportunity for participants to share experiences and suggestions on actions to be taken by respective organizations in the event of cyber attacks. In addition, it aimed to strengthen the cooperation to overcome cyber threat at the organization and state level as well as across Asia Pacific.

At the end of the training, Lt. Col. Sazali Sukardi (Retired), Vice President of Strategic Research, CyberSecurity Malaysia delivered a presentation on the formulation of the training.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in the program served as an opportunity to share its experiences and expertise in the field of cyber security with external parties. It was also a recognition for Malaysia as a country that actively engage in this field within Southeast Asia.

 
 
PRESENTATION OF WORKING PAPER AND WORKING VISIT - NASARAWA STATE UNIVERSITY, KEFFI, NIGERIA AND CONSULTANCY SUPPORT SERVICES (CS2) LIMITED, ABUJA, NIGERIA

Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nigeria invited Dr. Zahri Yunos, Chief Operating Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia to deliver a keynote during the CyberAbuja Conference 2015 in Nigeria. With the theme "Governance of Cyberspace", the conference supported by IEEE Section of Nigeria was held at the Shehu Musa Yar 'Adua Centre, Abuja. 150 participants attended the conference that took place on 4 to 6 December 2015.

At the conference, Dr. Zahri delivered a keynote entitled "The Art of Terrorism in the Cyber Space". The organizer also invited two experts from Digital Forensics, CyberSecurity Malaysia - Mohd Sharizuan and Fauzi Mohd Darus, to present about "Digital Forensics: Issues and Challenges on Bringing Cyber Criminals To Justice" and share their experiences about digital forensics.

In Abuja, Nigeria, CyberSecurity Malaysia visited several organizations that are interested to participate in CyberSecurity Malaysia's training. Among the organizations are, Defence Space Agency, National Information Technology Development Agency and Galaxy Backbone Limited. CyberSecurity Malaysia also visited Malaysian High Commission in Abuja, Hon. Datuk Lim Juay Jin and had a discussion with General Aliyu Mohammed Gusau (Retired), former Nigerian Defence Minister and former National Security Advisor, Nigeria.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this conference was an international recognition as an expert agency in the field of cyber security. In addition, it strengthened the strategic cooperation with stakeholders in Nigeria.

 
 
EXCHANGE OF THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN CYBERSECURITY MALAYSIA AND THE MALAYSIAN COMMUNICATIONS AND MULTIMEDIA COMMISSION (MCMC), CYBERJAYA
  9 NOVEMBER 2015
 

On 9 November 2015 there was a Memorandum of Understanding exchange between CyberSecurity Malaysia and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) at the MCMC's headquarters in Cyberjaya.

The objective of the MoU exchange was to acknowledge the strategic cooperation and strengthen existing relations between the two organizations, particularly in the field of cyber security. This collaboration prioritized training programs to increase competencies and expertise in cyber security, cyber security incident handling, digital forensics, security assurance and certified information security and international relations.

During the ceremony, both Head of the Organizations, Dato' Sri Dr. Halim Shafie, Chairman of MCMC and Dr. Amirudin Abd Wahab, Chief Executive Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia exchanged a memorandum of understanding.

With this Memorandum of Understanding, the present cooperation in the field of cyber security can be strengthened and refined to overcome cyber threats in Malaysia.

 
 
INTERNATIONAL INFORMATION SYSTEM SECURITY CERTIFICATION CONSORTIUM CONFERENCE, KUALA LUMPUR

On 11 November 2015 there was a conference on the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium organized by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, Inc. (ISC)² held at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur.

The conference served as a platform for participants to exchange experiences, brainstorming ideas and developed professional skills of cyber security. In addition, it was an opportunity for members to network with various industry resources and educational information.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Dr. Solahuddin Shamsuddin, Chief Technology Officer where he also delivered a presentation entitled "Staying Ahead of Evolving Cyber Threats"

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in the conference was an opportunity to strengthen its position as the lead agency in the field of cyber security in Malaysia. It also received an international recognition for its expertise in the field of cyber security.

 
 
E-DAGANG CYBERSAFE TRAINING PROGRAM, KUALA TERENGGANU, TERENGGANU
  11 – 12 NOVEMBER 2015
 

On 11 and 12 November 2015, E-Commerce CyberSAFE Training Program was held in Kuala Terengganu.

The program was organized by CyberSecurity Malaysia in collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Associations of Malaysia (FEM). It was one of the initiatives under MOSTI Social Innovation Program (MSI), to overcome public's issues and improve the economy and well-being through projects implementation, or innovations in a sustainable manner.

The training program aimed to improve efficiency of cyber security among local communities, particularly online entrepreneurs. A total of 30 women entrepreneurs from Terengganu who are members of the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Associations of Malaysia (FEM) participated in the training program held at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT).

At the end of the training, these women entrepreneurs called as Cyberpreneur gained new knowledge and understanding of cyber security issues such as threat, risk, and the latest cyber-crime modus operandi. They became more confident in to operate and manage their online businesses.

 
 
VISIT BY INFORMATION COMMUNICATION AND TECHNOLOGY SECRETARY CLUSTER, NATIONAL PROFESSOR COUNCIL TO CYBERSECURITY MALAYSIA, SERI KEMBANGAN

On 12 November 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia welcomed a courtesy visit from the Information Communication and Technology Secretary Cluster, National Professor Council, YBrs. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Zaki Abu Bakar and Prof Dr. Rabiah Ahmad.

The visit was organized to discuss current cyber security issues and cooperation between NPC and CyberSecurity Malaysia. In addition, the discussion was also on the initiative to produce a TV series based on the book, Kisah Benar Cyber999 published by CyberSecurity Malaysia.

This visit has established cooperation with the academia at the national level to enhance cyber security in Malaysia.

 
 
COMPETITION & EXHIBITION - UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI PETRONAS NATIONAL HACKING COMPETITION 2015 (UTP-HAX'15), SERI ISKANDAR, PERAK
  13 - 14 NOVEMBER 2015
 

On 13 and 14 November 2015, there was a Competition and Exhibition in conjunction with Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS 2015 National Hacking Competition (UTP-HAX'15). This event was collaboration between KPerak, CyberSecurity Malaysia, Yayasan UTP and UTP Alumni and supported by the EC Council and UTP Syntech Organisation.

The ceremony was officiated by Datuk Ir. (Dr.) Abdul Rahim B Hj Hashim, Vice-Chancellor, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Dr. Amirudin bin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer.

Other than the university students, academicians and administrative staff, the program was attended by 200 participants mainly UTP graduates and degree holders as well as representatives from related industries.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation had strengthened the cooperation with Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. In addition, this served as a platform to promote CyberSecurity Malaysia's products and services.

 
 
KARNIVAL INOVASI – CREATIVITY & SCIENCE 4U, ZONE TIMUR, KUALA TERENGGANU, TERENGGANU
  14 - 15 NOVEMBER 2015
 

On 14 and 15 November 2015, Karnival Inovasi – Creativity & Science 4U for Zone Timur was held at Terengganu Trade Center in Kuala Terengganu. CyberSecurity Malaysia was entrusted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) to led this carnival.

The carnival is an annual event organized by MOSTI aimed to increase and strengthen knowledge of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) among Malaysians in order to develop wealth, knowledge and welfare.

This two-day carnival was officiated by YB. Dato' Hj. Mohd Zubir Embong, the President of the State Legislative Council representing Hon. Chief Minister of Terengganu. Also present were the Dato' Dr. Mohd Azhar Haji Yahaya, Deputy Secretary General (Policy) MOSTI.

Other than the local community, the carnival was attended by youngsters, university students, civil servants, and representatives from neighbouring states, Kelantan and Pahang.

In addition to STI's exhibition by MOSTI and its participating agencies - CyberSecurity Malaysia, Malaysian Nuclear Agency (ANM), Astronaut Foundation Malaysia (YAM), Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB) and Yayasan Sultan Mizan Antarctic Research (YPASM) and Cyberpreneurs, many activities were conducted during the carnival. This was to attract and entertain the visitors. Among the activities were, "Battle of the Buskers", "Waziboys Circuit" and "Buskers.balcony.TV".

 
 
INDUCTION PROGRAMME/MYSEF REVISION, KUALA LUMPUR
  17 - 19 NOVEMBER 2015
 

The Induction Programme / MySEF Revision was held on 17 and 19 November 2015 to educate and assist new staff to adapt to new working environment. Organized by the Security Assurance Department (MySEF), this program was also a practice to existing staff.

The objective of the program was to provide information to new employees about their new working environment. Hence, enable these employees to produce quality work consistently and effectively. This program incorporated MySEF Quality Management System such as policies, guidelines, policies and other relevant documents.

The three-day program was attended by 15 participants from Proactive Cyber Security Division, including trainees from UNISZA.

 
 
MOSTI COMMERCIALIZATION CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION (MCCE) 2015, KUALA LUMPUR
  18 – 19 NOV 2015
 

CyberSecurity Malaysia took part in MOSTI Commercialization Conference and Exhibition held on 18 and 19 November 2015 at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), Kuala Lumpur.

MCCE was an annual event organised by Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) that included conferences, product demonstrations, exhibitions / sales on R&D product as well as business matching session. MCCE 2015 was the continuation of MCCE 2014 and was held as a preparation towards Malaysia Commercialization Year 2016 (MCY2016).

This program which engaged with the stakeholders is held to promote MOSTI as the leader in R & D product commercialization. With the theme, "360° Humanising Innovation", it focused on Government, Researcher, Industry and Community. MCCE 2015 was officiated by YB. Datuk Seri Panglima Madius Tangau, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.

More than 5,000 visitors including entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, civil servants and university students attended the program.

MCCE 2015 is a platform for CyberSecurity Malaysia to introduce new products and services, create awareness in the industry, government and private sectors; as well as to engage with potential customers. These aimed at increasing and strengthening CyberSecurity Malaysia branding.

 
 
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) ON COOPERATION BETWEEN CYBERSECURITY MALAYSIA AND THE INDIAN COMPUTER EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (CERT-IN), PUTRAJAYA
  23 NOVEMBER 2015
 

CyberSecurity Malaysia and the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) sealed a memorandum of understanding on 23 November 2015 at the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya. The event was held in conjunction with the state visit by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to Malaysia during the Twenty Seventh ASEAN Summit 2015.

The collaboration between CyberSecurity Malaysia and Cert-In aimed to enhance and preserve the strategic cooperation in cyber security field. In addition, it became a platform for both countries to exchange views and ideas to manage cyber security incidents, and provide professional training programs in cyber security.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato' Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak and also the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.

 
 
SARAWAK IT SECURITY SEMINAR 2015, KUCHING, SARAWAK
  25 - 26 NOVEMBER 2015
 

CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in Sarawak IT Security Seminar 2015 held in Kuching on 25 and 26 November 2015.

The seminar was organized by the Computer Faculty, University College of Technology of Sarawak (UCTS) and attended by over 1,000 participants among them were, Head of Departments, Chief Information Officers, Information Technology Managers and officers from different Ministries, agencies and the State Government.

The purpose of the seminar was to create awareness and educate people about the importance of cyber security. CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Dr. Solahuddin Shamsuddin, Chief Technology Officer. He delivered a talk titled "Staying Ahead of Evolving Cyber Threats".

CyberSecurity Malaysia participation served as an opportunity to further strengthened the position of CyberSecurity Malaysia as a leading agency in its field.

 
 
2015 SSR INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SOCIAL SCIENCES AND INFORMATION, TOKYO, JAPAN
  29 - 30 NOVEMBER 2015
 

CyberSecurity Malaysia took part in the 2015 SSR International Conference on Social Sciences and Information in Tokyo, Japan on 29 and 30 November 2015.

This conference was a platform for academicians and industry professionals to share knowledge, exchange ideas and reveal latest research and latest innovation in the field of Social Sciences and Information.

The conference that was jointly sponsored by the Academic Conference Institute of United States and Singapore Institute of Management Sciences Sports had been participated by various countries such as Germany, China, Thailand, Jordan, Kuwait, Indonesia, Russia, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Taiwan, Netherlands, Italy, India, Finland, Poland, Austria and Malaysia.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Dr Zahri Yunos, Chief Operating Officer, Lt. Col. Mustaffa Ahmad (Retired), Vice President of Outreach and Capacity Development and Ramona Susanty Abd Hamid, Manager of Outreach. CyberSecurity Malaysia delivered a presentation entitled "Developing a Master Plan for Cyber Security Awareness in Malaysia: A Focus Group Discussion Approach".

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this conference was an opportunity to share knowledge and experience and network with the participants in order to further explore potential collaborations with the relevant agencies.
