WORKSHOP ON EMPOWERING NEW TECHNOLOGY IN CONTRIBUTING TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF FISHERIES ENGINEERING, MORIB, SELANGOR

On October 4, 2015, a Workshop on Empowering New Technology in Contributing to the Development of Fisheries Engineering was organized by the Engineering Division, Department of Fisheries Malaysia in Morib, Selangor.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness about the importance of cyber security to engineering development of fisheries. CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Lt. Col. Sazali Sukardi (Retired), Vice President of Strategic Research. He delivered a presentation entitled "Cyber Security Current Issues and Challenges".

The workshop was an opportunity for CyberSecurity Malaysia to share information about cyber security. It was an appreciation and recognition to CyberSecurity Malaysia as the technical agency on cyber security field in Malaysia.

 
 
WORKING VISIT BY THE NATIONAL COMMISSION ON RESEARCH, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (NCRST), NAMIBIA
  4 OCTOBER 2015
 

On October 4, 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia welcomed a visit from The National Commission of Research, Science and Technology, Namibia. The delegation was headed by Ebenhezer Kauhonina, Senior Program Officer, Department of Research, Science, Technology, Innovation and Infrastructure Coordination, Namibia.

The delegation was welcomed by Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer while briefing on the functions, roles and services offered by CyberSecurity Malaysia to the government and public was delivered by Mohd Shamir Hashim, Senior Vice President of Government Relations and International CyberSecurity Malaysia.

The delegates visited Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCERT) and Digital Forensics Lab. The visit is expected to establish good relationship between Malaysia and Namibia in the field of cyber security.

 
 
WORKSHOP ON MULTIMEDIA FORENSICS ANALYSIS TECHNIQUE AND ETDA SECURITY HEALTH CHECK DAY 2015, BANGKOK, THAILAND

CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the Technical Workshop on Multimedia Forensics Analysis Technique and Seminar Security Health Check Day 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand on October 6, 2015. The workshop and seminar were initiatives of the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (TDA), Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Thailand and were held simultaneously with the CTF Thailand Competition 2015.

Forensic technical multimedia workshop was held to share information on how to carry out a forensic examination and analysis of multimedia. Meanwhile, the Security Health Check Day Seminar was held to raise awareness about the threat of cyber attacks on government and public organizations in Thailand.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Mohd Zabri Adil Talib, Head of Digital Forensics and Mohammad Zaharudin Darus Ahmad, Senior Scientist, Department of Digital Forensics. They delivered a presentation entitled "Multimedia Forensics Analysis Technique" during the technical workshop on multimedia forensics and "Point of View of National Cyber Security Management" in the Security Health Check Day.

Participation of CyberSecurity Malaysia in the workshop was recognized as a reference center for technical agencies in the field of digital forensics in this region. CyberSecurity Malaysia also shared their experience on how to manage electronic evidence in proving a case in court.

 
 
3RD BIG DATA WORLD SHOW MALAYSIA 2015, KUALA LUMPUR
  6 – 7 OCTOBER 2015
 

CyberSecurity Malaysia took part in the 3rd Big Data Show Malaysia 2015 Conference which was held in Kuala Lumpur on 6 and 7 October 2015.

The conference aimed to improve understanding and knowledge about Big Data to form a series of positive business. In addition, the conference also discussed the challenges and ways to improve data management efficiency in order to maximize business revenues.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Dr. Solahuddin Shamsuddin, Chief Technology Officer, who delivered a presentation entitled "Investing in Big Data Facility: Are We Ready?"

 
 
MANAGEMENT COURSE FOR GRADES 27-38 ASSISTANT CHIEF SECURITY OFFICER OF THE MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT, PRIME MINISTER DEPARTMENT, PORT DICKSON, NEGERI SEMBILAN
  7 OCTOBER 2015
 

This course was organized by the Office of the Chief Security Officer of the Malaysian Government, the Prime Minister Department on 7 October 2015 in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan.

The course provided exposure to cyber security threats, especially threats to the Critical National Information Infrastructure. In addition, this course also explained the National Cyber Security Policy that is designed to address cyber threats and explain the participants' role to protect cyber security in their respective agencies.

About 80 participants throughout the country attended this course. CyberSecurity Malaysia's involvement has further strengthened the collaboration between CyberSecurity Malaysia and the Office of the Chief Security Officer of the Malaysian Government. In addition, it provided awareness on the importance of cyber security to the participants.

 
 
CYBER AWARENESS SEMINAR, POLITEKNIK MUADZAM SHAH, KUANTAN, PAHANG

On October 7, 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the Cyber Awareness Seminar organized by the Department of Information and Communication Technology, Politeknik Muadzam Shah, Kuantan, Pahang.

Lt. Col. Sazali Sukardi (Retired), Vice President of Strategic Research represented CyberSecurity Malaysia and delivered a presentation entitled "Current Cyber Security Landscape".

The seminar was held to share knowledge and exchange ideas between students and industries on current issues related to cyber security.

 
 
CLOUD SOUTH EAST ASIA CONFERENCE 2015, KUALA LUMPUR
  7 - 8 OCTOBER 2015
 

CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in Could South East Asia Conferences 2015 held in Kuala Lumpur on 7 and 8 October 2015.

The conference was hosted by the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDEC). It was a field for simulation, knowledge sharing and discussion between experts from the cloud computing industry addressing issues on the implementation of cloud computing in southeast Asian countries.

It was also held to promote technology standards and cloud interoperability in Asian countries. In addition, it aimed to create an effective network platform to strengthen cooperation among the cloud industry throughout Southeast Asia as well as with other continents. A total of 400 participants attended the conference.

 
 
FORUM AND DIGITAL SERVICES PLATFORM FOR GOVERNMENT 2015, PUTRAJAYA
  8 OCTOBER 2015
 

On October 8, 2015 there was a Forum and Digital Services Platform for Government 2015, organized by Malaysia Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) in Putrajaya.

The one day forum was inaugurated by Tan Sri Dr. Ali Hamsa, the Chief Secretary to the Government and attended by over 1,000 participants consisting of heads of departments, heads Information Officer, Information Technology Manager and Public Sector officials from various ministries, agencies and state governments.

The forum was held to discuss recent developments regarding the implementation of digital services covering global development of IoT (Internet of Things), which can impact the government services.

Dr. Solahuddin Shamsuddin, Chief Technology Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia delivered a presentation entitled "Investing in Big Data Facility: Are We Ready?" in this Forum. Moreover, CyberSecurity Malaysia also participated in the exhibition during the program by displaying information about the services offered by CyberSecurity Malaysia.

 
 
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) BETWEEN CYBERSECURITY MALAYSIA AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AUTHORITY (ITA), OMAN
  11 OCTOBER 2015
 

On October 11, 2015 there was a ceremony on the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between CyberSecurity Malaysia and Information Technology Authority (ITA), Oman.

Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer represented CyberSecurity Malaysia while Dr. Salim Sultan Al Ruzaiqi, CEO, Information Technology Authority (ITA) represented Oman.

The MoU was signed to uphold the desire of both organizations to overcome threats and cyber attacks. It also addressed on training and consultancy to develop safety testing laboratory in Oman.

 
 
3RD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND COMPUTER SCIENCE (AICS 2015), PULAU PINANG
  12 – 13 OCTOBER 2015
 

On 12 and 13 October 2015 there was a 3rd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science (AICS 2015).

This Forum was organized by the International Islamic University for the purpose of gathering academicians, researchers and scholars to exchange views as well as to share experiences and research results related to innovation in engineering and technology.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Zanoramy Ansiry bin Zakaria from MyCERT Department. He presented his research paper entitled "Application of Case Based Reasoning in IT Security Incident Response".

 
 
FIREEYE SPECIAL CUSTOMER APPRECIATION & AWARDS IN CONJUNCTION WITH CYBER DEFENSE SUMMIT 2015, WASHINGTON D.C, AMERIKA SYARIKAT
  12 – 16 OCTOBER 2015
 

CyberSecurity Malaysia received an award for Cyber Security Best Innovation from FireEye Inc., a leading organization on international cyber security technology research, based in the United States. The award was presented during the Customer Appreciation and Awards Event in conjunction with Cyber Defense Summit 2015, held in Washington DC, USA.

The Cyber Security Best Innovation Award was awarded to CyberSecurity Malaysia due to the development CyberDEF. It was developed specifically to overcome issues related to digital forensics and malware attacks. CyberSecurity Malaysia also participated in the conference alongside with over 1,700 participants from more than 40 countries around the world.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation at the conference organized by FireEye was an opportunity to establish strategic cooperation in the field of cyber security with industry players in the United States. CyberSecurity Malaysia also visited and had discussions with several organizations in the United States that are US-CERT, Kroll Ontrack, CSIRT Gadgets Foundation and CyberGreen and Lastline.

 
 
FALAK CARNIVAL IN CONJUNCTION WITH MAAL HIJRAH 1437H, MELAKA
  14 - 18 OCTOBER 2015
 

On 14 to 18 October 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the Falak Carnival in conjunction with Maal Hijrah 1437H celebration for Melaka State level.

The carnival was held at the Islamic Centre, Bukit Palah, Melaka and organized jointly by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and the Melaka Islamic Religious Council (Maim).

The purpose of this carnival was to elevate and civilizing science, technology and innovation to the general public, especially residents of Malacca. This carnival was inaugurated by His Excellency the Gavenor of Malacca Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob.

In addition to religious content, the carnival included exhibitions by agencies and departments under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

 
 
ASEAN REGIONAL FORUM SEMINAR ON OPERATIONALIZING CYBER CONFIDENCE-BUILDING MEASURES, SINGAPORE
  21 – 22 OCTOBER 2015
 

On 21 and 22 October 2015, there was an ASEAN Regional Forum Seminar on Cyber Operationalizing Confidence-Building Measures organized by the Department of Homeland Security United States in Singapore.

The seminar was held to identify cyber threats that could jeopardize the economic growth of developing countries. Eventually, it increased cross-border cooperation between developing countries and members of the ASEAN Regional Forum in tackling and combating cyber threat incidents.

CyberSecurity Malaysia, took the opportunity to introduce its organization as a leading cyber security agency at the international level through the involvement in the Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT).

 
 
IEC/ISO PRE-PLENARY WORKSHOP FOR DEVELOPING COUNTRIES & 30th MEETING OF ISO/IEC JOINT TECHNICAL COMMITTEE (JTC) 1, BEIJING, CHINA
  25 - 31 OCTOBER 2015
 

CyberSecurity Malaysia was invited to attend a workshop and strategic meetings at the international level on standardization matters related to the Information Communications Technology (ICT). The event was held from 25 to 31 October 2015 and was represented by Maslina Daud, Vice President of Cyber Security Proactive Services, CyberSecurity Malaysia.

A total of 200 participants in the National Standards Body (NB) from different countries attended the program.

The workshop and the meeting assisted Malaysia in providing guidance for the strategic direction in the development and implementation of ICT, especially projects related to Smart Cities, IoT and Big Data. In addition, it was also a platform to identify the direction of global technology and assist countries in developing strategies, approaches and opportunities for ICT through a network of ICT experts at the global level.

 
 
FIRST TECHNICAL COLLOQUIUM: PEMBENTANGAN KERTAS KERJA & PERBINCANGAN PANEL: BUILDING AN EFFECTIVE NATIONAL CERT TEAM, ISTANBUL, TURKEY
  26 – 27 OCTOBER 2015
 

On 26 and 27 October 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the Paper Presentation and Discussion Panel at the FIRST Technical Colloquium held in Istanbul, Turkey.

Organized by the United Nation Development Program (UNDP), it was a platform for learning, sharing and discussion on the issues and challenges faced by the global community to overcome cyber security threats. CyberSecurity Malaysia is represented by Sharifah Roziah Mohd Kassim, Cyber Security Specialist of the Department MyCERT

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation impacted the visibility in the international arena in terms of cyber security. The global community is aware of the progress and development of Malaysia in cyber security. In addition, it was also an opportunity to network with experts who will help to resolve security incidents reported to MyCERT.

 
 
TECHNOLOGY AND APPLICATIONS FOR DISASTER MANAGEMENT INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE 2015 (TADMIC 2015), KUALA LUMPUR

On October 28, 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia took part in the Technology and Applications for Disaster Management International Conference 2015 (TADMIC 2015) held in Kuala Lumpur.

The conference organized by Astronautic Technology (M) Sdn. Bhd. (ATSB) was conducted to create awareness about disaster in Malaysia. It was also a platform to share knowledge on engineering technology and application in disaster management. Disaster Management focuses on prevention, early warning, rescue and recovery.

At the seminar, CyberSecurity Malaysia's representative, Tajul Josalmin Tajul Ariffin of Digital Forensics Department delivered a presentation entitled "Disaster Management: CyberSecurity Malaysia's Perspective".

This seminar has enabled CyberSecurity Malaysia to expose to the public about disaster preparedness in the context of storage and preservation of digital data.

 
 
ASEAN CERT INCIDENT DRILL 2015 (ACID DRILL)

On October 28, 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the ASEAN CERT Incident Drill 2015 or ACID DRILL organized by SingCERT.

It was an annual event held by ASEAN countries to evaluate the effectiveness of communication among ASEAN members to overcome cyber threats.

In 2015, 14 countries, namely Malaysia, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam ,Australia, Japan, China, India attended this cyber training.

This training aimed to enhance cooperation between CyberSecurity Malaysia and CERT bodies among ASEAN members. In addition, it also exposed CyberSecurity Malaysia to overcome cyber threats in cooperation with the ASEAN CERT. CyberSecurity Malaysia's involvement has publicized this agency the ASEAN region and international arena.

 
 
TALKING ASEAN CONFERENCE: "THE ROLE OF MEDIA IN COUNTERING RELIGIOUS EXTREMISM", KUALA LUMPUR

On October 30, 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia took part in the Talking ASEAN Conference organized by IMAN Research and The Habibie Centre of Indonesia.

The conference was inaugurated by the former Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tan Sri Dato' Haji Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, who is also the patron of IMAN Research Malaysia. 100 over participants from Malaysia and Indonesia attended the conference.

At the conference, Dr. Zahri Yunus, Chief Operating Officer delivered a presentation entitled "The Role of Media in Influencing Terrorism and Extremism".

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this conference was an opportunity to share information on cyber threats' current trend, promote CyberSecurity Malaysia as an agency specialized in the area of cyber security and strengthen the cooperation with the industries as a cyber security initiative in Malaysia.

 
 
POWER SUCCESS COURSE FOR LEADERS: TOWARDS EXCELLENCE PERFORMANCE FOR ADMINISTRATIVE AND DIPLOMATIC OFFICER (PTD) AND ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER (PPT), CAMERON HIGHLAND, PAHANG

On October 31, 2015, the Power Success Course for Leaders: Towards Excellence Performance For Administrative And Diplomatic Officer (PTD) and Assistant Administrative Officer (PPT) organized by Perak State Health Department was held at the Heritage Hotel, Cameron Highland.

The one-day course was organized to create awareness about the importance of cyber security among Administrative And Diplomatic Officer (PTD) and Assistant Administrative Officer (PPT).

CyberSecurity Malaysia was invited to deliver a presentation entitled "Current Trends and Cyber Security Challenges". Presentations were delivered by Lt. Col. Sazali Sukardi (Ret), Vice President of Strategic Research CyberSecurity Malaysia.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's involvement was recognized in order to further strengthen its position as a reference center and cyber security expert in Malaysia.
