Strategic Alliance to Create a Culture of Information Security. CyberSecurity Malaysia, an agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) signed a Memorandum of Strategic Alliance with HeiTech Padu Berhad to collaborate in awareness programmes towards creating a culture of information security. PERLIS, 13th November 2008 - The National cyber security reference and specialist centre, CyberSecurity Malaysia, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Strategic Alliance (MoSA) with HeiTech Padu Berhad to collaborate in awareness programmes towards creating a culture of information security among Malaysians. The MoSA exchange ceremony was carried out during the Majlis Pameran Sains, Teknologi & Inovasi or "MISTI MOSTI 2008" at the Dewan Wawasan 2020 in Kangar, Perlis. The signatories of the MoSA are Lt. Col. (R) Husin Haji Jazri, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CyberSecurity Malaysia; and Tuan Haji Safiee Mohammad, President of HeiTech Padu Berhad. The MoSA exchange ceremony was witnessed by the DYTM Raja Muda Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin, YAB Menteri Besar of Perlis Dato' Seri Dr. Md. Isa bin Sabu, YB Minister of MOSTI Dato' Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili, and YB Deputy Minister of MOSTI Tuan Haji Fadillah Yusof. 
Y.B. Minister Datuk Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili, said, "MOSTI is the ministry that is responsible for the development of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) in the country. Inculcating the culture of cyber security through awareness programme is an important component in STI development. Therefore, I am proud of CyberSecurity Malaysia which is representing MOSTI and the public sector in this wonderful collaborative effort with a reputable public listed company, HeiTech Padu Berhad. The Information Security Awareness Programme by CyberSecurity Malaysia and HeiTech Padu will benefit Malaysian internet users including those living in the rural areas. Husin Haji Jazri (Retired), "CyberSecurity Malaysia has been implementing the Information Security Awareness or 'Outreach Programme' since 2006, under the 9th Malaysia Plan. The programme is targeted at parents, children, and organisations. We are using innovative methods, and interesting contents such as animation videos to promote and create awareness in information security. We have also created an impartial website www.esecurity.org.my for this purpose. And we are always open to collaboration with interested parties, be it from the public or the private sector in order to expand the Outreach Programme and reach more internet users" President of HeiTech Padu Berhad, Tuan Haji Safiee Mohammad, said that this collaboration is part of HeiTech's ongoing efforts to assist the government in enhancing the level of ICT security awareness amongst the corporate community. "To reach those objectives, the awareness program must inspire and encourage everyone to practice secure computing because everyone - from management to end users - has a vested interest in secure computing. We are glad to have this opportunity to work together with CyberSecurity Malaysia. Together, we will carry out our awareness campaigns in the form of conferences, seminars, workshops, and exhibitions," Safiee added.
