MSC Trustgate.com, the leading provider of Internet trust solutions has recently kicked off its Secure Server ID Test Drive Programme.

According to Peter Rathgeber, Head of Marketing, MSC Trustgate.com, the test drive programme was developed to allow web users to have hands-on experience in using Secure Server ID certificates before purchasing them.

"It's a simple fact that web users won't transact business on a Web site if they can't be certain that it's secure. They need to know -- absolutely and positively -- that the business is real, and they need to be assured that their communications with that business will be private," remarked Peter.

"At the same time, merchants need to protect their data and their business against disputed sales or someone 'spoofing' their site and taking away their customers. The best way to provide assurance and confidence in using Secure Server ID is to allow web users to test drive and have a feel on how easy it is to use. More important, though, is for the users to feel assured that their privacy and data are protected," added Peter.

Under the Test Drive Programme, MSC Trustgate.com is offering free, limited assurance Test Drive Digital IDs for 14 days.

"Web users can order as many certificates as they wish and each certificate has a validity period of 14 days," said Peter.

The Test Drive Digital IDs work with all web browsers and web server software packages such as Netscape, Microsoft, C2 Net Stronghold, Apache Servers and many others.

The Test Drive Programme is also meant to assist web developers to test out the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) features of their web server or browser, and to develop a certificate-based application.

"They can also demonstrate SSL processes to co-workers or students," added Peter.
