"Computer-related crimes are on the rise and Malaysia is also facing the threat from such crimes and thus should be prepared to face the problems of information war which can bring adverse effects," he said when launching the Diploma of Investigative Science Programme for the 2003/2004 session, here Wednesday.

He said trespassing, virus attacks on computer data and thefts of information were among the latest criminal activities now which needed more serious attention.

He also said that the uncertain situation worldwide and the widespread threat from terrorists called for a change in the approach on investigation and enforcement with a wider work scope for the police.
