NISER holds first ICT Security show

KUALA LUMPUR: The National ICT Security and Emergency Response Centre (NISER) is holding its inaugural conference and exhibition - e-Secure Malaysia 2005 - in a few days.

The event to be held at the Putra World Trade Centre from Sept 28 to Oct 1 is aimed not just at ICT (information and communications technology) professionals but also at the general public, along with educational talks on PC security for the home user.

The professional part of the event is aimed at security experts, IT professionals. corporate players, policy makers,and researchers.

It features a comprehensive six-track conference on information security, the MyCrypt2005 international conference on cryptology, a boot camp for Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP)candidates and a trade-visitorsonly exhibition featuring some 45 exhibitors.

(CISSP is a professional qualification administered by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, also known as ISC2.)

Microsoft (M) Sdn Bhd will also hold a PC clinic in the exhibition hall during e-Secure Malaysia 2005.

For the public, free talks on "Positive Use of the Internet" will be held on Sept 30 and Oct 1.

Security experts and educators will deliver papers aimed at home users and parents, on these topics: "The Changing face of the Net: Challenges and Opportunities for Children," "How to be a Net-Mum or Net-Dad: Teaching Media Literacy," "Chat Rooms: Doyou know who is behind the Windows?" and "parenting the Net Generation,"

e-Secure Malaysia 2005's main sponsors are Microsoft, Computer Associates(M) Sdn Bhd, Symantec Corporation (M) Sdn Bhd, McAfee(Singapore) Pre Ltd,and Cisco Systems (M) Sdn Bhd.
