In response to a rise in cyber atttacks, CyberSecurity Malayasia has launched a number of cybersecurity projects, according to the agency. First, CyberSecurity Malaysia, part of the Science, Technology, and Innovation Ministry, has kicked off Cyber999, a public service that provides emergency response to cybersecurity emergencies, according to the Benama news agency. In the first quarter of 2011, 3,563 cybersecurity incidents were reported to the country's Cyber999 help desk. Of those, 1,273 incidents were related to online fraud, including 400 phishing attacks targeting Malaysian banks.

"While the number are worrying, we are also happy to see members of the public notifying us when they come across fraudlent websites or emails", said Zahri Yunos, CyberSecurity Malaysia’s chief operating officer. Second, the agency is launching Trust Mark, a public-private partnership in which companies receive a Trust Mark logo on their websites by strengthening their cybersecurity measures.

Third, the government is offering internet users a browser plug-in called DontPhishme to detect fake banking sites, said Zahri. "Users can download the browser plug-in from the official download repositories of Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome", he explained.
