CyberSecurity Malaysia and MCS agree MoU

CyberSecurity Malaysia and MCS Microsystems have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covering smart card technology-based test services for applications in trusted ID' transportation' banking' health' education' telecommunications and retail.
The MoU also seeks to establish globally recognised security assurance levels of Malaysian projects encompassing card operating systems and applets' PC software' readers and terminals' and ICs.

"Being a Malaysian Security Evaluation Facility (MySEF) of the Common Criteria IT security standard' this collaboration enables CyberSecurity Malaysia to provide functionality test' vulnerability assessment' electrical test' performance benchmarking' physical inspection and reliability test services based on international standards'" says Lt Col Dato’ Husin Jazri' chief executive officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia.

"This cooperation enhances CyberSecurity Malaysia’s position as the national cyber security specialist under the purview of the Ministry of Science' Technology and Innovation of Malaysia (MOSTI) and recognises MCS’ expertise within the Malaysian smart card industry'" says Dato’ Husin.

"This event marks a significant milestone in the establishment of a certified security assessment centre for smart card technology in Malaysia. Such a facility will serve to provide both the public and private sectors a recognised avenue to seek security assurances on their smart technology based projects.
