Cybersecurity incidents continue to increase
The Sun Daily (20 Sept 2011)

Cybersecurity incidents reported to Cyber999 from January to August 2011 totalled 10,700 compared with just 8,090 for the whole of last year.

CyberSecurity Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Datuk Husin Jazri said the number was expected to increase by year-end.

"Based on previous statistics, the number reported never comes down but it's always going up. What we want to do now, to address this issue, is to reduce the rate of increase," he said.

Both the government and private sector should invest in preventive programmes including outreach as well as education programmes, he told reporters after the launch of Norton 2012 products here today.

"We have plans but a plan without support from the government and private sector will remain a plan.

"That's why I'm calling everybody, not only the government but also the private sector, to come together and address this issue because this issue is not only about an individual but it's about all of us," he said.

The new Norton products are Norton AntiVirus 2012 and Norton Internet Security 2012.

They are already available in the market at RM79 for Norton AntiVirus 2012 (one year of protection for one PC) and RM159 for Norton Internet Security 2012 (one year of protection for up to three PCs).
