KUALA LUMPUR, The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT) to collaborate on initiatives to address cyber threats and incidents.

In a joint statement today, the organisations said the signing ceremony was held at the OIC-CERT 3rd Annual Conference and General Meeting held recently in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

APCERT chair Yurie Ito said the MOU is significant for both parties to address global efforts required to solve common cyber security challenges.

"Through networking, members of both organisations will improve their ability to respond to new threats and vulnerabilities across continents and political boundaries," she added.

At the OIC-CERT Annual General Meeting, CyberSecurity Malaysia was re-elected for another term of two years as OIC-CERT chair.

OIC-CERT, established in 2005, has 22 members and two professional members from 18 OIC countries, while APCERT comprises 27 CERTs and Computer Security Incident Response Teams from 18 Asia-Pacific nations.
