The Malaysian Ministry of Education, Digi Telecommunications, CyberSecurity Malaysia, and Childline Malaysia have launched the Digi CyberSafe Programme, a nationwide outreach campaign aimed at raising the awareness of child safety on the internet. The main thrust of the Digi CyberSafe Programme is a series of educational workshops that will be conducted at schools and community broadband centres around the country. The target is to reach out to more than 5,000 students by September. The programme looks to spread the knowledge and equip students, parents and teachers with tools to enable a family friendly internet experience.

The programme's collaboration with Childline Malaysia means that children facing issues online will be able to call a telephone helpline especially set up for children. The programme will offer a half-day workshop identifying the risks and threats online like cyberbullying, cyber stalking, identity theft, child pornography and cyber grooming. The workshop will also seek to teach children on safe chatting and social networking habits, give them tips to stay safe, and provide guides for parents on how to create a safe computing environment, as well as information of the helpline and assistance accessible via call and e-mail. Digi and programme partners recently launched a guidebook for parents and caregivers to spread awareness and tips on the best ways to create a safer internet experience for children.
