OIC-CERT Cyber Drill Coordination Successful In Addressing Targeted Cyber Crisis

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 (Bernama) - The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation - Computer Emergency Response Teams (OIC-CERT) had its first cyber drill themed "Targeted Attacks and Cyber Crisis Coordination" among its members this year.

The cyber drill, held early this week, is to assess the response capability of Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRT) from respective OIC-CERT teams in mitigating targeted cyber attacks.

This was according to a statement jointly issued by OIC-CERT Secretariat: TunCERT (Tunisian Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Center) and CyberSecurity Malaysia (Multilateral Engagement Department).

The OIC-CERT Drill 2012 objectives, namely, measuring incident response coordination, handling capabilities and readiness in facing cyber attacks, were successfully achieved.

"As the Chair of the OIC-CERT, we are indeed proud to play host to this inaugural cyber drill amongst members this year. We hope through this exercise, it will enhance the readiness of the computer emergency response teams in addressing the growing threats of cyber crimes," said Lt Col (R) Prof Datuk Husin Jazri, chief executive officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia.
