AITI to hold 3-day event on online safety at Times Square

THE Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) in collaboration with E-Government National Centre (EGNC) and IT Protective Security Services (ITPSS) as Brunei Computer Emergency Response Team (BruCert), is going to hold a three-day event from November 9-11.

The event themed "Be Aware, Secure and Vigilant" is organised in conjunction with the Cyber Security Awareness Week 2012.

To be held at Times Square, the event will highlight the importance of being safe online. A number of games and interactive sessions have also been planned duringthe duration of the event.

There will also be number of talks and an exhibition on ICT-related services and security solutions by various vendors, according to the press release issued by AITI.

Ahmad Ismadi Yazid Sukaimi, from Cybersecurity Malaysia, will officially launched the event tomorrow at 2pm with a talk on "Securing Your Online Identity". This will be followed with another talk on "Fundamentals of Mobile Services" at 4pm.

Other speaker will be the Royal Brunei Police Force who will deliver a presentation titled, "Sexual Predators and Online Grooming" at 10am on November 10, followed by a talk by the EGNC at 2.30pm on "IT Security Incidents".

On the last day of the event, Md Izzudin Hj Md Hussin from Tech One Global will give a talk on "Protect: Your Computer, Your Family and Yourself" at 2.30pm.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend these free talks by submitting their names and the title of the talk to: ismawati.ismail@aiti.gov.bn and assideq.naim@aiti.gov.bn for reservation by November 8 at 4pm. This is due to the limited seating space and the seat availability being on a first-come-first-served basis.
