It seems the more connected we are to the internet, the more we take our privacy for granted.

"The sophistication of technology and the convenience of mobile devices with Internet access availability have made online users neglect security aspects while they are accessing the Net and communicating with the rest of the world," CyberSecurity Malaysia chief executive officer Dr Amirudin Abdul Wahab tells The Heat.

"We feel safe and se¬cure as most of us surf the Net from the safety and comfort of our homes, so we tend to share a lot about ourselves online with pictures and com¬ments of what we are doing in our daily lives," he says.

This is an extract of the article that first appeared in the Sept 21 issue of The Heat.
