BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- The three-day annual conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation-Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) concluded here on Wednesday, in which cyber experts shared their latest technologies and trends relevant to cyber security, such as cloud computing and big data through international cooperation among members in mitigating cyber threats.

With the theme "Emerging risks versus Opporutunities", the conference aimed at addressing the latest technologies in cyber security.

"Cyber security has tremendous potential for economic development and has great impact on national security. Both the public and private sectors need to comprehend the significance of cyber security, the challenges it brings, the gaps and impacts it has pertaining to the political, economic and political spheres. They need to understand how to mitigate these challenges through government policy initiatives, public-private partnership and legal recourse," said Badar Ali Al-Salehi, chair of the (OIC-CERT) and director general of Oman National CERT.

Brunei's cyber expert Shamsul Bahri Hj Kamis said in his speech that cyber security is not just about technology. It is not just about buying a specific hardware or software. It is about corporate culture, education and awareness.

Some 200 participants from 16 OIC-CERT members, comprising industry leaders and academics from the government and private sectors attended the conference.
