Government Launches National Cyber Crisis Management Policy And Mechanism
KUALA LUMPUR (27 November 2013) - In addressing the emerging issue of cyber threat which poses serious challenges to the economic wellbeing and security of the nation, the National Security Council (NSC) has organised the National Cyber Crisis Exercise 2013 (X-MAYA 5). This annual event aims to test the effectiveness of the procedures that have been developed under the Malaysian National Cyber Crisis Management Plan and to assess the readiness and preparedness of critical national infrastructure agencies against cyber attacks. X-MAYA 5 2013 marks a significant milestone in the history of the event with the achievement of highest number of participations, 98 public and private agencies across the 10 Critical National Information Infrastructure - namely Health, Water, Banking and Finance, Information and Communications, Energy, Transport, Defense and Security, Government, Food and Agriculture and Emergency Services.

Malaysian school children says it is important to learn about internet safety but many don't know how
(SHAH ALAM) - Partners of DiGi's CyberSAFE in Schools, a nationwide outreach programme aimed at raising the awareness of child safety on the Internet, today shared the results of an inaugural survey which polled views of almost 10,000 children from 460 schools nationwide on internet safety. The announcement was made at the Cyber Security Malaysia Awards, Conference and Exhibition (CSM-ACE) 2013 to mark the completion of its second year programme which successfully doubled its reach to more students and teachers nationwide.

Preparing Digital Citizens To Stay Safe In Cyberspace
(KUALA LUMPUR) - Sekolah Menengah Agama Persekutuan, Kajang, Selangor emerged as the champion of Malaysia's first ever National-level ICT Security Debate - CyberSAFE Challenge Trophy 2013. The debaters from Sekolah Menengah Agama Persekutuan, Kajang beat those from seven other participating schools to win the coveted challenge trophy, RM2,000 and certificates. This debate is part of a series of activities under CyberSAFE - a program to raise awareness on the importance of cyber safety and personal information security in Malaysia. It encourages both students and teachers to be more responsible in using the Internet and other online technologies.

Cyber Security Is Critical To Malaysia's Nation Building And Sovereignty
(KUALA LUMPUR) - The 2013 edition of Cyber Security Malaysia - Awards, Conference and Exhibition (CSM-ACE 2013) was officially opened today at The Royale Chulan Hotel with a call by the Deputy Minister of Science Technology and Innovations’ (MOSTI) Y.B. Datuk Dr. Abu Bakar bin Mohamad Diah for Malaysian companies to ensure their digital assets are protected and safeguarded against cyber security risks such as data loss, damages, cyber-attacks and other cyber-criminal acts.

Cyber Security Scenario In Malaysia First Half 2013 Review
(KUALA LUMPUR) - As Malaysia moves towards becoming a developed Nation, information and communication technology (ICT) become significantly important across all sectors. The rapid development of ICT supported by various innovation-based activities enhances the socio-economic quality of the country. However, there are side effects caused by high usage of ICT, namely cyber security incidents and threats. If these threats are not controlled and the community is not given a proper education and awareness, the threats could undermine and destroy the country's well-being.

CyberSecurity Malaysia Launch Malaysia Trustmark For Private Sector Programme

Soft Launch Of The Cyber Security Malaysia Awards, Conference & Exhibition 2013 (CSM-ACE 2013)
(KUALA LUMPUR) - CyberSecurity Malaysia, the national cyber security specialist centre under the purview of the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI) today pre-launched its flagship event, the Cyber Security Malaysia Awards, Conference & Exhibition 2013 (CSM-ACE 2013), which will be held on 13-14 November 2013. The CSM-ACE 2013 Soft Launch is held today to announce that the event is now open for registration and participation from organisations as well as industry partners. "Securing Cyberspace for Economic Growth" is the overall theme for CSM-ACE 2013, which is aimed at catalysing innovation and growth in the cyber security industry.

"Then, Now And Beyond" APCERT Annual General Meeting And Conference 2013
(KUALA LUMPUR) - CyberSecurity Malaysia, the national cyber security specialist centre and an agency under the purview of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) has been re-elected to the Steering Committee of the Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT - www.apcert.org) at the 10th APCERT Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Conference 2013 held in Brisbane, Australia from 24 - 27 March 2013. This year, the annual event is hosted by CERT Australia. APCERT is a collaboration of 30 Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) from 20 economies within the Asia Pacific Region since 2003.

Kuiz Keselamatan Siber Untuk Para Pelajar Sekolah Dilancarkan
(KUALA LUMPUR) - CyberSecurity Malaysia, sebuah agensi pakar keselamatan siber Negara di bawah kawalselia Kementerian Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi (MOSTI) dengan kerjasama Kumpulan Media Karangkraf, melalui Majalah e-Baca hari ini melancarkan Kuiz CyberSAFE e-Baca. Pelancaran Kuiz diadakan sempena sambutan 'Safer Internet Day' (SID) dan berlangsung sewaktu Karnival Kumpulan Media Karangkraf pada hari Ahad, 3 Februari 2013. Majlis Pelancaran Kuiz CyberSAFE e-Baca telah disempurnakan oleh Y.B. Datuk Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof, Timbalan Menteri Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi.

APCERT Embarks On Global Coordination To Mitigate Large Scale Denial Of Service Attack
(KUALA LUMPUR) - The Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT) today has successfully completed its annual drill to test the response capability of leading Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRT) from the Asia Pacific economies. For the second time, APCERT involved the participation of members from the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation - Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) in this annual drill, following a Memorandum of Understanding on collaboration signed in September, 2011.

CyberSecurity Malaysia Names Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab As Its New Chief Executive Officer

CyberSecurity Malaysia Appointed As Secretariat Of The OIC-CERT
(KUALA LUMPUR) - CyberSecurity Malaysia, an agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) has been appointed as the Secretariat to the Organisation of the Islamic Conference-Computer Emergency Response Team or in short OIC-CERT at the OIC-CERT Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2012 which was recently held in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. With this appointment, CyberSecurity Malaysia is now holding the Chair and also Secretariat position of the OIC-CERT.

Cyber Security Against Emerging Threats
(KUALA LUMPUR) - The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation - Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) 4th Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2012 was recently held in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman from the 29 - 31 December 2012. This event which is hosted by the Oman National Computer Emergency Readiness Team (OCERT), an initiative under the Information Telecommunications Authority of Oman (ITA) and jointly organised by CyberSecurity Malaysia, the national cyber security technical specialist centre under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), has drawn interest from participants of 20 countries. The Minister of Legal Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, HE Dr. Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Said Al Saeedi, officiated the event.
