Cyber Intelligence Asia Conference 2013
  12 – 15 March 2013
  Cyber Intelligence Asia 2013, organised by Intelligence-Sec Limited, headquartered in United Kingdom is the first Asia Pacific conference held in Kuala Lumpur. CyberSecurity Malaysia was involved as a “Supporting Organisation” and was appointed as the chairman of the conference this year.

This conference was organised based on the fact that the global trend of cyber threat against Critical National organisations and government agencies has been on the rise during the last few years. Hence, preventive measures and preemptive measures must be put in place to further strengthen critical national information infrastructure of the countries involved.

Kuala Lumpur was selected as the venue for this conference due to its strategic geographical location in the Asia Pacific region and the availability of Malaysian Government’s various initiatives and programs to protect Critical National Information against cyber threats.

The conference this year attracted more than 100 participants from 16 countries, successfully attracting high number of cyber security experts both from industry as well as the Governments including Mr. Howard Schmidt, Former Special Assistant to President, Cyber Security Coordinator, Executive office of President Obama, United States.

This conference provided an opportunity to the speakers to share their experience in implementing various initiatives that were carried out by their organisations and governments to combat cyber threats and incidents. It also acted as a platform for the experts to discuss and analyse various techniques deployed in protecting their organisations and the critical national information of their respective countries.
 
Cyber Intelligence Asia Conference 2013

  In conjunction with Cyber Intelligence Asia 2013 Conference, Mr. Howard Schmidt, Former Special Assistant to President, Cyber Security Coordinator, Executive office of President Obama, United States made his first official visit to CyberSecurity Malaysia where he shared his experience and his views on development in the cyber world with CyberSecurity Malaysia’s staff members.

This visit by Mr Schmidt highlighted his support and acknowledgement of CyberSecurity Malaysia as the driver of cyber security industry in Malaysia
 
Seminar: “Business Online…New Opportunities”
  12 March 2013
  On 12th March 2013, CyberSecurity Malaysia in conjunction with SME Corp Malaysia Perak and MITI Perak organised a half day seminar on “Business Online... New Opportunities” at Pusing Hall, Kinta Riverfront Hotel& Suites, Ipoh, Perak. This is seminar was aimed to expose Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) entrepreneurs and budding entrepreneurs to the potential of online business and best methods to optmize business opportunities online.

Of 100 participants at this seminar, vast majority were entrepreneurs and some representatives from government agenices as Inland Revenue Board and FAMA. The speakers and topics presented include:

  2. Mdm. Sabariah Ghazali, Ketua Penolong Pengarah Kanan, Bahagian Dasar Pelaburan dan Fasilitasi Perdagangan Seksyen Fasilitasi Perdagangan dan Teknologi Unit E-Dagang, MITI – “Overview of Malaysia Trustmark”
  3. Mdm. Carrine Teoh & Mdm. Hasnida bt Zainuddin, CyberSecurity Malaysia – “Online Business with Malaysia Trustmark”
  4. Mr. Mohamad Rozlan Mohamad Razalli, Director, SME Corp. Malaysia Perak – ”SME Corp. Programmes and Grant”
  5. Mr. Syed Zahirulddin Syed Ali, Pegawai Bertugas, Business Information Centre, MATRADE – “Venturing Into Export Market with MATRADE”
CyberSecurity Malaysia succssfully received 13 applications for Malaysia Trustmark as a result of this seminar.
 
Annual APCERT Conference (Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team)
  24 – 27 March 2013
  CyberSecurity Malaysia had paricipated in the Annual Conference of Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT): www.apcert.org, a body of 30 Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs) members from 20 countries across the Asia Pacific region.

At the APCERT annual general meeting and conference which was held in Brisbane, Australia, CyberSecurity Malaysia was once again elected as the Steering Committee for two terms from 2013 to 2015.

CyberSecurity Malaysia’s selection as the APCERT Steering Committee is an achievement and acknowledgement given to the leadership, professinalisme and the technical expertice available within this organisation.

CyberSecurity Malaysia’s involvement in international arena creates opportunities for continuous implementation of various cyber security programs and initiatives based on the mandate given by Malaysian government. CyberSecurity Malaysia also takes this opportunity to forge closer relationship and cooperation with other global organisations to collectively protect global cyber security.
