CSM-ACE is the premier cyber security event in Malaysia as it covers three main components; Conference, Exhibition and Awards. This year, CSM-ACE theme is Securing Cyberspace for Economic Growth. This theme was selected to reflect the importance of cyber security industry to the Nation and its contribution to the growth of Nation’s economy.
The CSM-ACE conference this year was divided into two sessions where Track 1 - Governance, Risk and Management and Track 2 – Technical. This year also witnessed CyberSAFE activities covering three main events such as CyberSAFE Ambassador Program with Girl Guide Association of Malaysia, Closing of DiGi CyberSAFE in Shools Program and the Finals of National ICT Debate 2013. Similar to the previous years, CSM-ACE 2013 was well received by both public and private sectors.
In the meantime, CSM-ACE Exhibition received encouraging participation from various organisations from cyber security industry. Through this exhibition, they were able to showcase their products and services based on latest technologies, built relationships and expanded their businesses.
Malaysia Cyber Security Awards Night was held on the last day of CSM-ACE, where CyberSecurity Malaysia recognised organisations and individuals who contributed to the growth of cyber security industry in Malaysia. 11 award recipients from 7 categories received the recognition from YB Datuk Dr. Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).
CyberSecurity Malaysia also involved in organising the National Cyber Crisis Exercise or X-MAYA 5 which was held on 25 November 2013. This annual event was jointly organised with National Security Council (MKN) aimed to test the effectiveness of procedures developed under the National Cyber Crisis Management Plan through evaluation of Critical National Information Insfrastructure (CNII) agencies’ preparedness and response to cyber attacks.
X-MAYA 5 recorded highest participation in the history of the program since its inception in 2008 with participation from 98 public and private agencies who represent 10 CNII sectors. The closing ceremony of National Cyber Crisis Exercise was officiated by Yang Amat Berhormat Tan Sri Dato' Hj. Muhyiddin Bin Hj. Mohd Yassin, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia on 26 November 2013 at Royale Bintang Hotel, Damansara.
In line with its roles and functions, CyberSecurity Malaysia provided the infrastructure and technical support for the success of X-MAYA 5 based on the experience of organising regional cyber practical trainings with Organisation of the Islamic Conference - Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) and Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT) as well as CyberSecurity Malaysia’s capability and expertise in handling various cyber security incidents through Cyber999 Help Centre and Malware Research Centre.
We hope that every events, programs and activities organised and participated by CyberSecurity Malaysia throughout the year 2013 have achieved its objectives in line with the Malaysia’s aspiration to become a developed nation via digital economy by 2020 through wide application of Information Technology and Communication (ICT) in every aspects. Programs and events organised were part of an important initiatives to create a secured eco-system within conducive and safe cyber environment.
