Strategic Working Visit to AlliaCERT, Paris, France

On June 1 - 2, 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia conducted a working visit to AlliaCERT (Alliacom Computer Emergency Response Team) headquarters in Paris, France; which was a required activity in relations to AlliaCERT request for CyberSecurity Malaysia to become the main sponsor for AlliaCERT's membership application with the Forum for Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST). Dr. Zahri Hj Yunos, Chief Operating Officer and Megat Muazzam Abdul Mutalib, Head of MyCERT represented CyberSecurity Malaysia.

During the visit, they reviewed the activities, operations and procedures of AlliaCERT. Meanwhile, a series of discussions was also held to foster a strategic partnership between CyberSecurity Malaysia and Alliacom on various matters including issues related to cyber security incidents.

The knowledge gained has helped CyberSecurity Malaysia to implement projects under the Centre of Excellence (COE) initiative. Both organizations also agreed on mutual sharing of experience, technical expertise and cooperation in carrying out research projects such as "Honeynet" and malware threat as well as cyber security programs for Security Operation Center based in France. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed between Alliacom and CyberSecurity Malaysia to realize this strategic partnership.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's involvement in the assessment of AlliaCERT as a member of FIRST is a recognition of CyberSecurity Malaysia at the international level. This shows that, the expertise and credibility of CyberSecurity Malaysia as a leader in cyber security agency recognized not only in the country but also globally.

 
Visit from The Ambassador and Delegation of ICT Industry, Czech Republic

On June 2, 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia received a courtesy visit from the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Malaysia, His Excellency Rudolf Hykl with a delegation from the ICT industry of the republic. The delegation was received by Dr. Amirudin bin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer, CyberSecurity Malaysia.

During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the functions and roles of CyberSecurity Malaysia as an agency that is mandated by the Government to lead the online security field in Malaysia related to cyber security and CyberSecurity Malaysia's role as Permanent Secretariat of the Computer Emergency Response Team for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation or the OIC-CERT.

Also discussed were opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation between the two countries in terms of ICT, particularly in the area of cyber security, including cyber security specialist training program.

 
FIRST Technical Colloquia (TC'S) 2015, Amsterdam, Netherlands

CyberSecurity Malaysia has attended FIRST Technical Colloquium 2015 Seminar from 4 to 6 June 2015 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The seminar which was organized by CISCO Systems Amsterdam has been attended by over 100 participants from various countries around the world.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Norlinda Jaafar and Ahmad Aizuddin Aizat Arif Tajul of MyCERT Department. Norlinda presented a working paper entitled "Mobile Threats - MyCERT Case Study" at the seminar with the theme For Memory Forensic Incident Responders.

This seminar is a platform for the regional FIRST members to discuss and share information on exposure, incidents and issues affecting the operation of the reaction security forces.

At this seminar, the case study research conducted by MyCERT on "Mobile Threats" has been accepted by the organizers as a topic of discussion. This is a recognition to CyberSecurity Malaysia at the international level.

 
Cyber Security Day, Kuala Lumpur

On June 8, 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia organized a seminar on Cyber Security Day 2015 to introduce and promote the services of CyberSecurity Malaysia to CNII organizations either government agencies or the private sector.

The seminar provided an opportunity for potential customers to interact directly in order to obtain detail information about the focus, perspective and services offered by CyberSecurity Malaysia. At this seminar, the current cyber security landscape was also presented, besides it also opens opportunities for collaboration between CyberSecurity Malaysia established by various agencies CNII.

This one-day seminar was attended by various CNII organizations and graced by Dr. Amirudin bin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia. Several presentations were also made by CyberSecurity Malaysia officials, including Lt. Col. Sazali bin Sukardi (Retired) with the title of "2015 Cyber Security Trends and Threats", Carrine Teoh Choi Shi - "Our Cyber Security Solutions to your Needs" and Sharifah Roziah bt Mohd Kassim - "Cyber Security Landscape in India".

The seminar was successfully introduce services offered by CyberSecurity Malaysia to CNII agencies, government agencies and the private sector as well as creating awareness among these agencies about the product / service CyberSecurity Malaysia.

 
National ICT Seminar - MyGOV Tech 2015

On June 9, 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the National ICT Seminar - MyGOV Tech 2015. The event took place at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre. A-one day seminar and exhibition was organized by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and was officiated by YAB Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Amongst CyberSecurity Malaysia's involvement at this event are as exhibitor, where CyberSecurity Malaysia exhibited cyber security-related services such as data recovery, data filtering, MyCyberSecurity Clinic, Cyber999 services and certification services.

CyberSecurity Malaysia also participated as presenters, where Sharifah Roziah Mohd Kassim, Specialist of the Department MyCERT had made a presentation entitled "Current Security Threats in Malaysia".

CyberSecurity Malaysia's involvement in MyGov-Tech 2015 event attracted many people, especially from the staff of the Ministry and the Department of Government, where it has opened an opportunity for them individually to send their data storage ICT equipment for data recovery.

 
Asia PKI Conference 2015

On the 9 and 10 June 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia took part in the ASIA Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Conference 2015 which was held in Kuala Lumpur. The opening ceremony was officiated by YB Datuk Dr. Abu Bakar Mohamed Diah, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The conference organized by SecureMetric Technology Sdn Bhd and Asia PKI Consortium was held to provide an opportunity for cyber security experts to share information, experiences and expertise in the field of cryptography and digital safety issues encountered in relation to the implementation of the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) in Asian countries.

In addition, it also aims to create a platform for effective network to further strengthen cooperation among PKI industry players worldwide A total of 300 participants took part in this program.

 
Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between CyberSecurity Malaysia and Moroccan National Defense through the General Direction of Information System Security (DGSSI), Kuala Lumpur

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between CyberSecurity Malaysia and the Moroccan National Defense through the General Direction of Information System Security (DGSSI) was held on June 10, 2015. The ceremony was graced by the Chief Executive Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia, Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab witnessed by the Ambassador of Morocco to Malaysia, His Excellency Ahmed Faouzi. Earlier, the document was signed by representatives of the Government of Morocco is responsible for the administration of defense, Mr Abdeltif Loudyi.

In line with the roles of CyberSecurity Malaysia as the technical and a specialist agency, continued efforts should be made to further expand the reach of services offered CyberSecurity Malaysia either within or outside the country.

Through the platform of the OIC-CERT (Computer Security Response Team - Organisation of Islamic Countries), both agencies of CyberSecurity Malaysia and Morocco Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) - an entity under Moroccan National Defense through the General Direction of Information System Security (DGSSI) have agreed to strengthen cooperation in cyber security industry in both countries.

Through this MoU, technical expertise and support services for issues dealing with cyber threats can be implemented. In addition, it also increases the chance to exchange views, share knowledge and experiences, expertise and research to improve the development of information systems security and development program to spearhead the implementation of cyber security across industries and sectors of the economy.

 
OWASP Malaysia Meet Up Q2 2015

On June 12, 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia has organized a session for the annual meeting of OWASP Association in Malaysia. OWASP or Open Web Application Security Project is an organization that was held specifically for the online community website for security applications.

Q2 annual meeting was held to discuss and share information about safety of website. The opening ceremony was graced by Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia. Over 60 participants consisting of professionals, specialists web application security field, university students, computer security companies, programmers, web application and OWASP Malaysia members attended the session.

CyberSecurity Malaysia has taken the opportunity to shed light on the function and role of CyberSecurity Malaysia to OWASP members in addition to introducing the services and programs implemented by CyberSecurity Malaysia.

 
Signing Ceremony of Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between International College of Yayasan Melaka (ICYM) and CyberSecurity Malaysia

On June 12, 2015, a Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (Reseller & Licensing Agreement) between CyberSecurity Malaysia and the International College of Yayasan Melaka (iCYM) or Yayasan Melaka International College was held. The MoU signing ceremony was held as a follow-up based on the discussions to establish cooperation between organizations under the Scheme and Licensing Reseller.

With the signing of this agreement, both organizations are now committed to provide continuous human capital development through skills training programs that use the expertise of both organizations.

On the event, the MoA was signed by Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia, while iCYM was represented by Datuk Saroni Judi, CEO iCYM.

 
Cyber Security Professional Certification Scheme Workshop, Post Dickson

On 12 and 13 June 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia in collaboration with Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UteM) organized a cyber security professional certification workshop with the objective to establish cyber security professional certification scheme for Malaysia, the OIC countries and countries in the region.

The two-day workshop discussed issues relating to the governance structure of professional certification, updating the existing structure as the structure of the scheme, discuss professional certification criteria, skills and sub-skills that will be applied to the scheme as well as marketing strategies and professional expertise for the scheme.

A total of 19 participants participated in the workshop.

 
FIRST (Forum for Incident Response and Security Teams) Conference and AGM 2015, Berlin, Germany

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended the FIRST Conference and Annual Meeting 2015 from 14 until 19 June 2015 in Berlin, Germany. This is an annual participation of CyberSecurity Malaysia as a member of FIRST.

More than 700 participants from around the world attended this conference and CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Sharifah Roziah Mohd Kassim and Muhammad Nasim Abdul Aziz of MyCERT Department. At this conference, a presentation of case studies have been made by Sharifah Roziah entitled "Unifying Incident Response Teams Via Multi Lateral Cyber Exercise for Mitigating Cross Border Incidents: CERT Malaysia Case Study".

CyberSecurity Malaysia's active participation in the conference has managed to strengthen the position and the name of CyberSecurity Malaysia in the field of cyber security globally.

 
Strategic Meetings and Research Collaboration on Biometrics Forensics as well as Working Visit to Mobotix AG Research Centre, Langmeil, Germany

On June 16, 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia attended a Strategic Meeting & Research Collaboration on Biometrics Forensics, as well as a working visit to Mobotix AG Forensics Research Centre at Langmeil, Germany.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by it's Vice President of Cyber Security Responsive Services Division, Dr. Aswami Fadillah Mohd Ariffin. He was accompanied by Mohd Zabri Adil Talib, Head of Digital Forensics Department and Zaharudin Darus Ahmad, Senior Researcher of Digital Forensics Department.

The purpose of the meeting was to explore opportunities such as to establish cooperation and collaboration on forensic investigation of biometric physical security and monitoring system (CCTV system and gate control system) with the Mobotix AG. In addition, it also aimed to establish a professional relationship with the German multimedia specialist in the field of physical security and forensic readiness / evidence readiness.

They exchanged views, experiences and share ideas and expertise in the production of lenses by Mobotix CCTV system and management of video evidence in court by CyberSecurity Malaysia. It is hoped that through co-operation will be established later, it can be said MOSTI desire to produce innovation than research carried out in CyberSecurity Malaysia.

 
Persada Transformasi Perkhidmatan Awam 2015 Program, PICC

Public Service Transformation Showcase 2015 was held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre on June 17, 2015 in conjunction with the 14th Premier Public Service Ceremony at Putrajaya International Convention Centre.

With the theme "Facing the Country's New Realities: Firming up Solidarity, Strengthening Integrity", the program was officiated by YAB Dato 'Sri Mohd. Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, Prime Minister.

The National Transformation Showcase Program was attended by various ministries and agencies listed as high-impact transformation initiatives. CyberSecurity Malaysia's involvement in the program provides an opportunity to promote MyCyberSecurity Clinic (MyCSC) as one of the high-impact initiatives.

 
Strategic Meetings and Research Collaboration on Biometrics Forensics as well as Working Visit to Open Technology Real Services (OTRS), Straubing, Germany

On June 18, 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia attended a Strategic Meeting and Research Collaboration on Biometrics Forensics as well as working visit to the Research Centre of the Open Technology Real Services (OTRS) in Straubing, Germany.

The purpose of the meeting was to conduct collaborative research on physical security monitoring system (CCTV system and gate control system), in addition to improving management systems through the application of digital forensic services based OTRS ticket. Discussions pertaining to aspects of innovation adopted by OTRS AG in their products.

The opportunity was also taken CyberSecurity Malaysia's representatives comprising Dr. Aswami Fadillah Mohd Ariffin, Vice President of Cyber Security Responsive Services, Mohd Zabri Adil Talib, Head of Digital Forensics and Zaharudin Darus Ahmad, Senior Researcher, Department of Digital Forensics to study the technology used and to better understand the best practices in the German work culture.

 
NatCSIRT Meeting 2015, Berlin, Germany

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended National CSIRT (NatCSIRT) Meeting 2015 on 20 and 21 June 2015 in Berlin, Germany. The meeting was organized by Carnegie Mellon University, USA was attended by 200 participants from various countries around the world.

At this meeting, CyberSecurity Malaysia which was represented by Sharifah Roziah Mohd Kassim, Specialist from MyCERT Department has made a presentation on "Coordinated Malware Eradication in Malaysia" and participated in the forum as a panelist under the topic of "CyberSecurity Attitude in a Government Culture".

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this event has strengthened its position as a specialist agency CyberSecurity Malaysia cyber security at the international level.

 
Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between Thailand Computer Emergency Response Team (ThaiCERT, Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) dan CyberSecurity Malaysia, Bangkok, Thailand

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Thai Computer Emergency Response Team (ThaiCERT), Electronic Transactions Development Agency (TDA) (referred to as ThaiCERT / TDA) and CyberSecurity Malaysia was held on June 26, 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Ceremony was held at the Office ThaiCERT / TDA, in which CyberSecurity Malaysia delegation was headed by Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia.

The MoU was signed to continue cooperation in the area of cybersecurity, particularly in cyber security incident response, digital forensics expertise and training programs, exchange of manpower, field research on malware and cyber security product certification.

 
Strategic Meeting and Research Collaboration as well as Working Visit to Computer Forensic Laboratory Operations Center of the Royal Thai Police, Bangkok, Thailand

On June 26, 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia has entered into a research collaboration and strategic meetings and working visits to computer forensics laboratory operations center of Royal Thai Police. The purpose of the meeting and the visit was to strengthen bonds of friendship with the computer forensics lab team Royal Thai Police and strengthen cooperation in combating cyber crime between the two countries.

CyberSecurity Malaysia delegation comprising Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Aswami Fadillah Mohd Ariffin, Senior Vice President, Service Division reaction Cyber Security and Mohd Zabri Adil Talib, Head of Digital Forensics.

Through the visit, the two countries can share expertise and experience in solving criminal cases involving digital evidence material more efficiently, to understand the issues and challenges faced by the authorities of both countries as well as solutions and strengthen diplomatic and strategic relationship that has existed as a nation neighbors.
