Handing Over Ceremony of MyCSC Premium Licensing to KPerak, Ipoh, Perak

A handover ceremony of MyCyberSecurity Clinic (MyCSC) Premium License to KPerak Implementation and Coordination Corporation (KPerak) was held at the Office of the Chief Minister of Perak on July 1, 2015. The ceremony was officiated by Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia and Mr. Nazaruddin Mohd Yusoff, Chief Executive Officer of KPerak witnessed by the Chief Minister of Perak, Dato' Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry bin Abdul Kadir.

MyCSC Premium License is a K-entrepreneurial program among local entrepreneurs in the technical field of data recovery (data recovery) and Data Sanitization through training, business networks (business networking), marketing assistance and technical assistance. MyCSC Premium License is expected to encourage the growth of MyCyberSecurity Clinic network throughout Malaysia. Under this program, MyCSC Premium License will produce more skilled entrepreneurs, competitive and knowledgeable (Knowledge Entreprenuers) in the field of science and technology, particularly in the field of cyber security.

KPerak is the first government agency in Malaysia to be awarded the MyCSC Premium License. With MyCSC Premium License, KPerak will be able to produce more entrepreneurs among local young people through the use of technology, at the same time create more employment opportunities. Indirectly, this program will have an impact on the economic development of the State of Perak, with K-economy, increase competitiveness, and enhance employment opportunities

 
 
Soft Launch of the CSM-ACE 2015, APCERT and OIC-CERT Conference, Kuala Lumpur

On July 2, 2015 there was a Soft Launch of CSM-ACE 2015, an annual event organized by CyberSecurity Malaysia. The soft launch event which includes three main elements, namely cyber security conference, exhibition and awards was officiated by YB. Datuk Dr. Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Themed "Bridging The World - Go Cyber Green", CSM-ACE 2015 was also jointly organized with two international conferences organized by the APCERT (Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team) and the OIC-CERT (Organization of the Islamic Cooperation - Computer Emergency Response Team) Conference. The combination of these three simultaneous events would make the CSM-ACE 2015 an international event.

It is expected that about 900 participants from local and abroad will attend the event which will take place over five days, from 6 to 10 September 2015 at the Royale Chulan Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

 
 
Meeting on Cyber Security and Desktop Drill organized by the Ministry of Defence Thailand with cooperation from CyberSecurity Malaysia, and UBM Malaysia in Bangkok, Thailand

On July 2, 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia attended a meeting with the Ministry of Defense of Thailand and UBM Malaysia to discuss on the organization of Cyber ​​Security Seminar and Desktop Drill. The Meetings was held at the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Defense in Bangkok Thailand.

The Cyber ​​Security Seminar and Desktop Drill will be held in November 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand. The meeting was chaired by the Director of Defence Information and Space Technology Department (STD), Ministry of Defence Thailand and attended by representatives of CyberSecurity Malaysia, namely Dr. Zahri Hj. Yunos, Chief Operating Officer and Ooi Seong Hoe, Head of Strategic Research & Advisory, CyberSecurity Malaysia.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's involvement in the organization Cyber ​​Security Seminar and Desktop Drill is a recognition given by the Government of Thailand for CyberSecurity Malaysia's expertise in the field of cyber security. In addition, it also strengthens strategic relations between CyberSecurity Malaysia and Thailand Ministry of Defense in the field of cyber security.

 
 
PETRONAS Security Awareness Program 2015 - KLCC

On July 9, 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the PETRONAS Security Awareness Program 2015 at the Philharmonic Hall Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) organized by the PETRONAS.

CyberSecurity Malaysia has introduced and promoted Data Recovery Service (Data Recovery), MyCyberSecurity Clinic (MyCSC) and also CyberSAFE program.

Presentation on MyCSC was done by Muhammad Anis Farhan Bin Yahya and Mohammad Hazim bin Zahri, while Aaron Ikram Mokhtar did a presentation on CyberSAFE.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's involvement in PETRONAS Security Awareness program 2015 attracted the interest of many of PETRONAS staff to the services offered by CyberSecurity Malaysia.

 
 
“Shopping Raya” Programme with Anak-anak Bait Al Amin, Perak

On July 11, 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia organized a "Shopping Raya bersama Anak-anak Bait Al Amin” program. The program was held at AEON Mall Taiping, Perak.

The "Shopping Raya" is part of the CyberSecurity Malaysia activities in fulfilling its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The program, which began in 2008 has now become a tradition for CyberSecurity Malaysia whenever there comes the month of Ramadan.

A total of 83 orphans of home the Bait Al Amin were celebrated in preparation for the Hari Raya Aidil Fitri. The program also received good cooperation from Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), where UTP students have been involved as Mentors to the children under CyberSAFE program.

 
 
Youth Intellectual Dialogue “Belia dan Pengaruh Media Sosial” - Pusat Belia Antarabangsa, Kuala Lumpur

CyberSecurity Malaysia has participated in the Dialogue of Intellectual Youth "Youth and Social Media Influence" on July 11, 2015 organized by the Research Institute of Youth Development.

The seminar was held with the aim to provide information and disclosures about the importance of cyber security, social media influence and impact of social media abuse in cyberspace can have a negative impact on the youth. CyberSecurity Malaysia is represented by Lt. Col. Sazali Sukardi (Retired), Vice President of Strategic Research, where he delivered a keynote at the seminar.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in the seminar has been successfully introduced to the youth as an agency expert in the field of cyber security as well as the main reference point for the public on the issue of cyber security.

 
 
Working Visit to HUAWEI Headquarters in Shenzen, China and Visit to “SOC” Automated Systems Holdings Limited, Hongkong

On 26 to 29 July 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia visited the headquarters of HUAWEI in Shenzen, China, and also the "SOC" Automated (ASL) Systems Holdings Limited in Hong Kong.

The working visit to HUAWEI’s headquarters is a follow up of the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the HUAWEI in 2014.

While a visit to the "SOC" Automated (ASL) Systems Holdings Limited located in Hong Kong for the purpose of obtaining exposure to the service "SOC" offered by the organization.

 
 
Digital Forensic for First Responder, Seri Kembangan

On 27 to 30 July 2015, a program known as Digital Forensic for First Responder Training Center was held at CyberSecurity Malaysia. Organized by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM) and Bank Negara Malaysia, the program was attended by 21 participants from various government agencies, such as the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia, Bank Negara Malaysia, the Royal Malaysian Police, the Companies Commission of Malaysia, the Customs Department Royal Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

The training objectives include imparting the folllowing knowledge:

  1. Digital forensic responsibility, rules, terms, and process;
  2. Understanding how to behave at a crime scene and how to handle digital evidence;
  3. Operating, and maintaining the validity of seizing digital evidence;
  4. Understanding the laws that govern digital materials, chain custody and handling expert witnesses.
 
 
Technical Colloquium 2015, Seri Kembangan

On July 28, 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia organized a Technical Colloquium Workshop 2015. Activities include knowledgde sharing & how to produce technical writing based on their major or field of work work.

The objectives of the workshop are:

  1. to improve and enhance the quality of scientific writing;
  2. a platform for sharing information and technical knowledge that result from the sharing of knowledge is expected to generate new knowledge;
  3. improve skills in technical writing and presentation;
  4. motivate staff and reward quality writing income;
  5. CyberSecurity Malaysia enriches the knowledge assets.

A total of 12 papers were presented. The article entitled "Terrorist Use of the Internet" was chosen as the best writing for category 'Published' and the article "Morphology Based Application Rules and Order Stemming Stemming Error Approach to Solve Affixation Reducer Stemming Errors" was selected for the category 'Unpublished'.

Through this workshop, the quality of technical writing among the staff can be improved and enriched especially in the field of cyber security in order to create a worker or specialist who is knowledgeable.

 
 
ASEAN REGIONAL FORUM (ARF) Workshop on Cyber Security Capacity Building, Beijing, China

CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) held in Beijing, China from 28 to 30 July 2015. At the forum, CyberSecurity Malaysia was involved in the conference, a moderator and presenting papers at the workshop titled ARF "Cyber Security Capacity Building".

Workshop co-chaired by the National Security Council (NSC) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China is a continuation of ARF Framework for Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) under Priority Area 3: Security of and the use of Information and Communications Technologies ( ICTs) led by Malaysia, Russia and Australia.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Dr. Zahri Hj. Yunus, Chief Operating Officer and Megat Muazzam Abdul Mutalib, Head of MyCERT. At the workshop, CyberSecurity Malaysia has been involved in Session II: "Approaches to Enhancing Capacity and dimensions of Building and Session III: The Role of Governmental and Non-Governmental Actors on Capacity Building". CyberSecurity Malaysia has also presented papers in Session II entitled "Approaches to and dimensions of Enhancing Capacity Building - Malaysia Experience" and a moderator for Session III.

 
 
5th Annual Cyber Security For Government Summit - Putrajaya

On 29 and 30 July 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated and supported the 5th Annual Cyber Security Summit for Government Summit which was organized by IQPC Asia.

The summit has been held to discuss issues regarding cyber security becoming increasingly important in the development of an organization.

As the supporting organization to this summit, CyberSecurity Malaysia has also involved in presentation and panel discussion. Representative of CyberSecurity Malaysia is Lt. Col. Sazali bin Sukardi (Retired) the Vice President of Strategic Research Division who gave two presentations entitled "APT Detection" and "Safeguarding Your Government Critical Infrastructure Against APTs Modern".

CyberSecurity Malaysia’s participation in this summit is hoped to strengthened the position of CyberSecurity Malaysia as a leading cyber security not only at local level but also at the global level. In addition, it is also a recognition of CyberSecurity Malaysia in terms of leadership and commitment in the field of cyber security.
