3rd International Conference Recent Treads in Engineering and Technology (ICRET'2015), Istanbul, Turkey

On 2 and 3 September 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the 3rd International Conference Recent Treads in Engineering and Technology (ICREST'2015) in Istanbul, Turkey.

The conference was organized by the International Institute of Engineers (IIE) and attended by IT experts and academicians. This conference is a platform in which academicians, researchers and scholars gather to exchange opinions and share their experiences and research results about all aspects related to innovation in engineering and technology to discuss the challenges and solutions.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Zanoramy Ansiry Wira bin Zakaria, Senior Analyst, MyCERT. He presented a research paper entitled "Application of Case Based Reasoning in IT Security Incident Response". He made us so proud when his research paper was selected as the best research paper at the conference. This recognition enhanced CyberSecurity Malaysia's image and reputation in the international arena.

 
 
Working Visit by Director General of Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) to CyberSecurity Malaysia

On 4 September 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia had the pleasure of receiving the Director General of the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU), YBhg. Dato' Seri Zainal Rahim bin Seman, along with 13 delegates of MAMPU.

The visit was organized to discuss various issues on cyber security, understanding the cyber security services offered by CyberSecurity Malaysia as well as reviewing the response activities of the national cyber security conducted by the laboratories of digital forensics, computer emergency response and security.

The visit was to strengthen the strategic relationship between MAMPU and CyberSecurity Malaysia in efforts to strengthen cyber security field in Malaysia.

 
 
Annual General Meeting and Conference of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation – Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) and the Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT), Kuala Lumpur

From 6 to 10 September 2015, there was an Annual General Meeting and Conference of the Computer Emergency Response Team - Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC-CERT) and the Computer Emergency Response Team Asia Pacific (APCERT) in Kuala Lumpur.

The main program of the Annual General Meeting and Conference 2015 OIC-CERT and APCERT that lasted for 5 days includes the Steering Committee Meeting, Desktop Technical Workshop and Exercise, the Annual General Meeting; and the Annual Conference of the OIC-CERT and APCERT.

This is the first annual Conference of OIC-CERT and APCERT that was jointly organized with Cyber Security Malaysia - Awards, Conference and Exhibition (CSM-ACE) 2015, which is the annual event by CyberSecurity Malaysia. The opening ceremony was officiated by YB. Datuk Seri Panglima Madius Tangau, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation on 10 September 2015.

A total of 726 participants from 36 countries attended the conference. 16 speakers from 9 countries delivered presentation regarding the paperwork and the results of their research projects.

During the APCERT Annual General Meeting, CyberSecurity Malaysia was elected as Deputy Chairman of APCERT. This appointment signifies that members of APCERT look up to the staff of CyberSecurity Malaysia.

The event has succeeded in strengthening ties between Malaysia and our peers from the Asia Pacific countries, enhancing cooperation in dealing with cyber threats through information sharing and highlighting the contribution and role played by Malaysia in the field of cyber security at the international level, especially to OIC member countries and Asia Pacific.

 
 
Advanced Computer and Network Intrusion Course (ACNIC)

CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the Advanced Course on Computer and Network Intrusion (ACNIC) organized by the International Law Enforcement Academy, Bangkok, Thailand, in collaboration with the International Narcotic Law Enforcement (INL) in Bangkok, Thailand from 7 to 11 September 2015.

ACNIC is the advanced-level courses on the analysis of evidence of cyber attacks that occur in the various networks (networks) and the database (database). Gathering evidence of cyber attack involves software-existing software like Wireshark, Pivot Table, regular expression, and many others.

A total of 30 enforcement officers from ASEAN member countries such as Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Malaysia attended the course. CyberSecurity Malaysia is represented by Mohamad Nizam Kassim of Strategic Research and Advisory Department and Tajul Josalmin Tajul Ariffin Ismail and Muhammad Zahid of Digital Forensics Department. CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this course has established close relations with enforcement organizations among ASEAN member countries.

 
 
Finale of the National ICT Security Discourse – CyberSAFE Challenge Trophy (NICTSeD) 2015, Kuala Lumpur

On 8 September 2015 there was the finale of the National ICT Security Discourse: CyberSAFE Challenge Trophy 2015. The final competition witnessed two schools, namely SMK Iskandar Shah, Jasin, Melaka and SMK Sultan Ismail, Johor Bahru, Johor compete to win the CyberSAFE Challenge Trophy 2015.

NICTSED 2015 is a competition in the form of discussion and presentation of proposals (discourse) aimed at promoting awareness and encouraging creative and critical thinking among secondary school students and teachers on current issues related to ICT, cyber security and Internet usage positively.

NICTSED is organized by CyberSecurity Malaysia in collaboration with the Educational Technology Division (ETD) and supported by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).

At the end of the final competition, SMK Iskandar Shah, Jasin, Melaka was declared as the winner, while SMK Sultan Ismail, Johor Bahru, Johor was second runner up. The winner took home CyberSAFE Challenge Cup, a cash prize of RM5,000 and a certificate of participation.

The prizes were presented by the YB. Mr. P.Kamalanathan s / o P.Panchanathan, Deputy Minister of Education. Present at the event were YB. Datuk Dr. Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.

 
 
CLOUD EXPO KOREA 2015, Korea

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended Cloud Expo Korea 2015 held in Busan, Korea on 8 to 12 September 2015. The conference is hosted by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, Korea and organized by the NIPA (National IT Industry Promotion Agency), Korea ,

The Cloud Expo Korea 2015 was held to explore various areas of computing public and share information on the latest technology and market trends to enable buyers and sellers to expand their business opportunities in Korea. In addition, there is also a program "Business Matching" service aims to provide an opportunity to strengthen the network of technology-related Business Cloud.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Ismamuradi Dato' Hj Abdul Kadir, Head of Strategic Planning Department.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this program has helped to foster knowledge and understanding in the area of Cloud in particular, especially in parts of cyber security. In addition, it is also an opportunity for CyberSecurity Malaysia to implement a strategic partnership to enable CyberSecurity Malaysia venture into Cloud security.

 
 
Malaysian Cyber Security Awards 2015 Gala Dinner, Kuala Lumpur

On 9 September 2015 we organised a Gala Dinner for presentation of the Malaysia Cyber Security Awards 2015. The dinner was held at the Hotel Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur and officiated by YB. Datuk Dr. Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Cyber Security Awards were introduced by CyberSecurity Malaysia to recognize and appreciate the contributions made by industry players in Malaysia cyber security commitment, leadership, preparation program and education initiative, and promote innovation. This award also trigger strategic alliances among local ICT security industry, and underscoring the growing importance of cyber security in the country's ICT landscape that is so dynamic and competitive. Opening of the Cyber Security Malaysia – Awards, Conference and Exhibition 2015 and APCERT Conference and OIC-CERT Conference 2015, Kuala Lumpur

The Opening Ceremony of Cyber Security Malaysia - Awards, Conference and Exhibition (CSM-ACE) 2015 and the Conference of Computer Emergency Response Team Asia Pacific (APCERT) and the Conference of Computer Emergency Response Team - Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC-CERT) was held on 10 September 2015 and officiated by YB. Datuk Seri Panglima Madius Tangau, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.

This the sixth time CyberSecurity Malaysia organizes CSM-ACE, where the event was held as one of the initiatives to meet the mandate and the responsibility given by the Malaysian Government to establish infrastructure and secure cyber environment more conducive. CSM-ACE 2015 is the only event of cyber security that includes three (3) components, the Cyber Security Malaysia Awards, Conference and Exhibition cyber security under one roof in the Southeast Asian region.

Themed "Bridging The World, Go Cyber Green", CSM-ACE 2015 was also organized for the first time with two (2) international conference, the International Conference and Annual General Meeting of Computer Emergency Response Team Asia Pacific (APCERT) and Conference and Annual General Meeting of Computer Emergency Response Team - Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC-CERT). A total of 36 countries from the Asia-Pacific and a member of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to attend this conference.

CSM-ACE 2015 is also offering various training programs and the development of human capital to increase the skills of the labor officers and IT personnel from public and private organizations so that they can play a role and contribute to the construction of an eco-system cyber security in Malaysia. Through this training program, more knowledgeable workforce and skill can be generated and be able to defend the organization from attacks and cyber threats. A total of 210 participants including staff and officials from various industries attended the training program in conjunction with the CSM-ACE 2015 which began from 6 to 10 September 2015.

Meanwhile, the Cyber Security Technology exhibition saw the participation of 40 organizations as exhibitors. Two (2) organizations also took the opportunity to launch their products and services in which the most recent launch was officiated by YB. Datuk Seri Panglima Madius Tangau.

In addition, the CSM-ACE 2015 also worked with Fortinet Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) to organize satellite events of 361 Security Symposium and UTP-Hax 2015.

The organization of CSM-ACE has managed to put a name and CyberSecurity Malaysia's reputation as a leader in the field of cyber security agency not only in Malaysia but also in the international arena.

 
 
Launch of "Buku Kisah Benar Cyber999", Kuala Lumpur

On 10 September 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia has launched a compilation of short stories based cyber security incidents reported by Internet users in Malaysia through the Help Center Cyber999.

The book "Kisah Benar Cyber999" featuring 27 incidents or the true story of cyber security in the form of creative writing. It is published in collaboration with Media Group Book Group Karangkraf. The book was published as one of the initiatives in its efforts to disseminate, raise awareness and foster public awareness about the importance of cyber security. The book also highlights tips and advice on issues of cyber security to Internet users know the procedure and ethics as they are in cyberspace and use the Internet and its applications.

The launch was officiated by YB. Datuk Seri Panglima Madius Tangau, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, during the opening ceremony of the conference CSM-ACE 2015 at the Royale Chulan Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

 
 
Development of Cyber Security Framework for the Public Sector Workshop 2016 - 2020 with Industry, Kuala Lumpur

On 11 September 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia organized the second Development Workshop Cyber Security Framework for Public Sector (RAKKSSA) 2016-2020 with Industries.

CyberSecurity Malaysia has been appointed by the Malaysian Administrative Modernization and Management Planning (MAMPU) to implement a cyber security framework for the public sector. RAKKSSA to be developed will be a guide to the public sector in managing cyber security protection and government ICT assets. In addition, RAKKSSA expected to strengthen the future direction of ICT security in line with current and in line with the 11th Malaysia Plan.

In addition to MAMPU and CyberSecurity Malaysia, are also involved in the development of this project is the Office of the Chief Government Security Office (CGSO) and MIMOS Berhad.

 
 
China-ASEAN Information Harbor Forum, Quangzi, China

CyberSecurity Malaysia took part in the Forum of China-ASEAN Information Harbor, held at the Regional However, Quangzi, China on 13 and 14 September 2015. The two-day Forum was inaugurated by Mr. Lu Wei, Chinese Minister of Cyberspace Administration (CAC).

In addition to attending the Forum, CyberSecurity Malaysia also participated in a closed meeting of the National Cyber Security between China and ASEAN membership. CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Sharifah Roziah Bt Mohd Kassim from the Department of Khadijah MyCERT and Sarah Taylor of Digital Forensics Department.

 
 
Strategic Working Visit and International Common Criteria Conference, United Kingdom

On 16 to 25 September 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia made a strategic working visit on "Internet of Things (IoT)" and in the same time attending the Annual Conference of the International Common Criteria (International Common Criteria Conference, ICCC) in 2015 in the United Kingdom.

Among the location of the working visit was to IBM Innovation Center (IBM Innovation Centre), Galileo Centre, University of Surrey and Intel Corporation (UK) Ltd. The visit aims to collect information on the Internet of Things (IoT) is able to assist in the development and evaluation of research laboratories in CyberSecurity Malaysia.

IoT strategic visit was attended by Dr. Solahuddin Shamsuddin, Chief Technology Officer, Maslina Daud, Vice President of Cyber Security Proactive Service and Ahmad Dahari Jarno, Senior Analyst, Security Assurance Department, CyberSecurity Malaysia.

Meanwhile, the Common Criteria International Annual Conference was held at the Beaumont Estate, United Kingdom. Common Criteria Annual Conference is a platform for collaboration opportunities with potential in the service organization Common Criteria (CC) and gathering new information on the equipment in the development of CC and new techniques from the perspective of the evaluation and certification of ICT products.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this conference and have been able to create a basic requirement and focus research on the development of IOT Lab Testing and Research Laboratory of IOT.

 
 
Workshop on Basic Server Security Threat From Hackers

On 21 September 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia has joined the Workshop Foundation Server Security Threat From Hackers, organized by the Information Assurance and Security Research Group (AISRG), Faculty of Computing, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in collaboration with the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) Malaysia.

The workshop aims to share knowledge on server hacking, hacking techniques and basic methods of web sites Forensic Server. The workshop will also expose participants to the steps to be taken to curb the problem of hacking, hacker attacks and curb describes the impact the attacks on the server.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this workshop increased the knowledge with regards to hacking techniques, server, and steps to be taken in case of hacking activities as well as to create awareness of web application threats that exist and knowledge about Server forensic science

 
 
4th International Industrial Security Seminar, Pulau Pinang

CyberSecurity Malaysia joined the 4th International Industry Security Seminar organized by Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (CPF), the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, on 28 and 29 September 2015.

The seminar was held to review the security risks in Africa in relation to the threat of terrorism and was inaugurated by the YBhg. Tan Sri Datuk Seri Lee Lam Thye, Vice President, Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Lt. Col. Sazali Sukardi (Retired), Vice President of Strategic Research. He gave a lecture entitled "Illicit Use of the Internet for Terrorist and Criminal Activities"
