Working Visit from Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) to CyberSecurity Malaysia
2 November 2016

CyberSecurity Malaysia welcomed a visit from Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) on 2 November 2016. A delegation of five people was led by Kee-Seung Baik, President & CEO of KISA, South Korea.

The purpose of this visit is to exchange information on cyber security landscape particularly in Malaysia, share experience in cyber security incident handling and effective control measures. In addition, the delegation was briefed about the training program and cyber security related services offered by CyberSecurity Malaysia.

The delegation was informed about CyberSecurity Malaysia's roles and responsibilities by Dato' Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer. They also visited the laboratories at CyberSecurity Malaysia.

During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between CyberSecurity Malaysia and KISA to foster cooperation and share experiences on cyber security.

This MoU will accelerate the development of expertise and resources in the field of cyber security, exchange of knowledge, promote bilateral cooperation and implement joint projects in the field of cyber security.

Academic Visit to Royal Holloway University of London, United Kingdom and University of Caen, France
2 – 10 November 2016

CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in a series of academic visit to the Royal Holloway University of London in the United Kingdom, the University of Caen in France and Bletchley Park, Milton Keynes in the United Kingdom from 2 until 10 November 2016. The visit was organized by the Institute of Mathematics (institute), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Hazlin Abdul Rani and Wan Zariman Omar of Cryptology Development Department together with representatives from the INSPEM UPM and the Malaysian Society of Cryptology Research (MSCR).

The purpose of the visit was to explore collaboration opportunities, update and learn about the current developments in cryptology. In addition, this opportunity was also taken to obtain information and research material from cryptography experts from Royal Holloway University of London and the University of Caen, France in the field of cryptology and mathematics undergraduate research project.

As a result of discussions held with the cryptologist, some consensuses have been reached in order to enhance the development of the field of cryptology in Malaysia especially in CyberSecurity Malaysia.

Working Visit to United Kingdom For The Development of Strategic Roadmap
7 – 11 November 2016

CyberSecurity Malaysia visited the United Kingdom on 7 to 11 November 2016 to gather information and obtain technology exposure and operation model to become a benchmark for the development of strategic roadmap in the future.

The delegation led by Dato' Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer and accompanied by Roshdi Hj. Ahmad, Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Industrial Affairs, Mohamed Anwer Mohamed Yusoff, Head of Industrial Relations and Collaboration Department as well as Ismamuradi Dato' Hj. Abdul Kadir, Head of Strategy Management Department, CyberSecurity Malaysia.

During the visit, the delegation organized few discussions with several organizations based in the United Kingdom, namely the UK Government Communication Headquarters (GCHQ), QinetiQ, Malvern Technology Centre, Oxford Cyber Centre, Oxford Martin School, Cyber Division, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), BAE Systems and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).

The visit managed to strengthen strategic relationships with organizations that CyberSecurity Malaysia visited. In addition, it is also an opportunity for CyberSecurity Malaysia to explore opportunities for cooperation in the field of cyber security.

Presentation Paper "Cyber Security Situational Awareness among Students: A Case Study in Malaysia", Sydney, Australia
7 – 10 November 2016

CyberSecurity Malaysia delivered a presentation entitled "Cyber Security Situational Awareness among Students: A Case Study in Malaysia" at SecEdu Cyber Education Division, University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia. The presentation was delivered by Lt. Col. Mustafa Ahmad (Retired), Senior Vice President of Outreach and Capacity Building Division and Ramona Susanty Abdul Hamid, Manager Corporate Communications & Outreach Department.

During this visit, the delegates held several meetings namely, with Cyber Response Teams of the Commonwealth Bank on 7 November 2016, Police Cyber Education and Response Unit on 8 November 2016 and Australia's eSafety Commissioner on 10 November 2016.

Through this working visit, relevant information was collected to assist the development of cyber security awareness modules. In addition, it also helps in discussions with the Educational Technology Division (ETD), the Ministry of Education's pilot project implementation at the national level.

'Ops Jelajah Cyber 2.0' Edition Kedah, Alor Setar, Kedah
8 – 9 November 2016

CyberSecurity Malaysia organized 'Ops Jelajah Cyber 2.0' Edition Kedah in Wisma Darulaman, Alor Setar on 8 November 2016. It was an initiative of MOSTI Social Innovation Program (MSI) in partnership with the Digital Kedah Transformation Centre (DTC) to provide cyber security-related services to the local community.

MOSTI Social Innovation program was developed specifically to help the local community and improve the economic well-being through the implementation of services, skills upgrading or innovations that can be implemented in a sustainable manner.

The two-day program was officiated by YB Dato' Norsabrina Mohd Nor, Chairman of the Committee on Science, Innovation and Information Technology, Communications and High Technology and Human Resources and Member of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly Bandar Baharu N-36. CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Mohd Shamir Hashim, Senior Vice President, International and Government Relations Division.

Among services offered through 'Ops Jelajah Cyber 2.0' are Data Recovery, Data Sanitization and Digital Forensics. In addition, it is also a platform to introduce MyCyberSecurity Clinic Entrepreneurship Development Program (MyCSC) which is a program under the MyCSC Outlet network developed by CyberSecurity Malaysia.

International Conference in Combating Child Pornography, Bangkok, Thailand
9 – 12 November 2016

CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the International Conference on Combating Child Pornography in Bangkok, Thailand on 9 to 12 December 2016.

The conference organized by Thammasat University in Bangkok, Goethe-University Frank am Main, Westfälische Wilhelms-University Munster and the University of Passau, Germany, was attended by 40 participants from ASEAN countries, NGOs and government agencies in Thailand. It was held to exchange views, ideas and information to create legislation, strategies, policies and effective implementation of best practices in addressing issues relating to child pornography among ASEAN member countries.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Elina Binti Abdul Mubin of Outreach and Corporate Communications Department, where she made a presentation entitled "Stand Against Childs Por-NO!-graphy! Malaysia's CyberSAFE Awareness Protection Measures ".

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this conference is a recognition for its expertise and capabilities in preserving issues relating to cyber security in Southeast Asia.

2nd International Conference on Electronics and Software Science 2016, Takamatsu, Japan
14 – 16 November 2016

On 14 to 16 November 2016, 2nd International Conference on Electronics and Software Science 2016 took place in Takamatsu, Japan.

The conference which was organized by the Society of Digital Information and Wireless Communication (SDIWC) is a platform for researchers to share and discuss latest information on security and computer science.

A total of 30 participants from various security companies and universities representing several countries participated in this conference.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Wira Zanoramy Ansiry Zakaria from the Malaysia Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCERT). At the conference, Wira Zanoramy delivered a presentation entitled "Exploitation of Android Mobile Malware in Phishing Modus Operandi: A Malaysian Case Study".

Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC), Gran Via Venue, Barcelona, Spain
15 – 17 November 2016

CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) in Barcelona, Spain from 15 to 17 November 2016.

The congress is an international conference that brought together more than 400 researchers, organizations and influential global innovators to share knowledge, debate the challenges faced while encouraging thinking outside the box in an effort to develop the sustainability of Smart City.

SCEWC was first held in 2011 and has become a global reference event to support the development of Smart City. It was a platform to discuss ideas, expand network, share experiences and create international business deals.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Maslina Daud, Senior Vice President of Cyber Security Proactive Division, Norahana Salimin, Head of MySEF Department and Hafizah Che Hasan, Head of MyVAC Department.

Smart City congress was attended by nearly 105 countries from around the world. CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation at this international congress was an opportunity to strengthen cooperation and collaboration in the development of Smart City initiative in Malaysia.

Bangladesh Banking Summit, Dhaka, Bangladesh
15 – 16 November 2016

On 15 and 16 November 2016, Bangladesh Banking Summit was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The conference which was co-organized by Fleming Events, Bangladesh Bank, Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (IBM) focuses on banking issues and emphasis on cyber security.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Fazlan Abdullah, Head of Government Relations, where he delivered a presentation entitled "A Holistic Approach For Cyber Security and Critical Information Infrastructure Protection".

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation at this summit was an opportunity to share experiences on the implementation of the National Cyber Security Policy, to establish close cooperation with the agency and the participants as well as explore potential opportunities for collaboration with agencies of the countries involved.

The Internet of Things World Europe, Dublin, Ireland
20 – 22 November 2016

CyberSecurity Malaysia took part in The Internet of Things World Europe 2016 in Dublin, Ireland from 20 to 22 November 2016.

The conference which was organized by KNect360 is the Europe's largest event. It provides opportunities for trade to discuss on current issues related to the development of IoT security, and data privacy, accountability and honesty as well as big challenges IoT operation.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Maslina Daud, Senior Vice President of Cyber Security Proactive Division, Norahana Salimin, Head of MySEF Department and Hafizah Che Hasan, Head of MyVAC Department.

IoT is a hot topic discussed in European industry, where the government and the people began to take note of the huge potential of this technology to improve the economy and lifestyle.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this conference was to provide technical disclosure in a more comprehensive framework for the development of IoT security model in addition to assisting in the development of the IoT security model in Malaysia.

International Conference on Cyberlaw, Cybercrime & Cybersecurity (ICCC), New Delhi, India
16 – 18 November 2016

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended the International Conference on Cyberlaw, Cybercrime and Cybersecurity (ICCC) held at India International Centre, New Delhi, India from 17 to 18 November 2016.

CyberSecurity Malaysia delegation led by Dr. Zahri Yunus, Chief Operating Officer accompanied by Dr. Asmawi Mohd Ariffin, Senior Vice President of Cyber Security Response Service Division and Megat Muazzam Abdul Muttalib, Head of the Malaysia Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCERT).

CyberSecurity Malaysia's delegation also held a series of discussions with various parties, including on related initiatives The No More Ransom Project in an effort to attack the threat of ransomware.

In addition, the delegation also held discussions on human capital development and training related to cyber security module together with representatives of NASSCOM India.

CyberSecurity Malaysia also conducted strategic discussions with the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-India) to share expertise relating to cyber threats. The meeting was held following the memorandum of understanding signed between CyberSecurity Malaysia and CERT-India on 23 November 2015.

A total of 200 participants from several international organizations such as UNESCO and INTERPOL, and industry such as Microsoft and Huawei attended the conference.

This visit to India is an opportunity to promote CyberSecurity Malaysia as an agency expert in the field of cyber security and strengthen bilateral cooperation and good relations with stakeholders in cyber security initiatives.

Signing Ceremony of CyberSecurity Malaysia Corporate Integrity Pledge, Seri Kembangan, Selangor
21 November 2016

On 21 November 2016, CyberSecurity Malaysia signed the Corporate Integrity Pledge.

The pledge signing ceremony was officiated by Dato' Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer and Dato' Hj. Mohamad Yusoff Akope, Director of Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), witnessed by Mr. Kua Abun, Deputy Secretary General (Planning and Commercialization), Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and General Tan Sri Dato' Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi Mohamed (Retired), Chairman of the Board of Directors, CyberSecurity Malaysia.

This pledge assures that CyberSecurity Malaysia will commit to provide cyber security expertise with dedication and free from any form of corruption in order to uphold the principles of anti corruption among corporations in Malaysia.

At the same event, all staff in CyberSecurity Malaysia pledged together with Dato' Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab.

Public Sector CIO Convex 2016, Sepang, Selangor
22 – 23 November 2016

CyberSecurity Malaysia took part in the exhibition at the Public Sector CIO CONVEX 2016 on 22 to 23 November 2016 organized by the Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) of Prime Minister's Department. This event was officiated by the Honorable Tan Sri Dr. Ali Hamsa, the Secretary General.

With the theme 'Towards Digital Government Model Citizens', this conference was held to promote the culture of Digital Government in public sector service delivery. In addition, it also introduced a number of public sector ICT projects and presented awards to public sector agencies that successfully implemented ICT projects with excellence.

CyberSecurity Malaysia took the opportunity to introduce cyber security services and promote the latest digital forensics product innovations, Kloner and Pendua.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's involvement in this program further strengthened its position as a specialist center of cyber security and the opportunity to network with various agencies that participated.

Working Visit from Global Malaysia eCommerce Expo, Kuala Lumpur
22 – 24 November 2016

CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in Malaysia eCommerce Expo from 22 to 24 November 2016 at the MATRADE, Kuala Lumpur.

The exhibition organized by the Malaysian Association of e-Commerce was participated by 150 organizations and e-commerce platform for e-commerce practitioners consisting of local and international entrepreneurs to showcase programs and initiatives related to e-commerce.

CyberSecurity Malaysia introduced Malaysia Trustmark service as a service to verify and audit the authenticity and ethics of the e-commerce company based on the guidelines set by the World Trustmark Alliance (WTA).

MU-CERT 2016 FIRST Technical Colloquium, Mauritius
22 – 24 November 2016

CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the MU-CERT FIRST Technical Colloquium from 22 to 24 November 2016 in Mauritius.

The conference organized by CERT-MU was held to discuss on various issues related to Smart City technology, Internet of Thing (IoT), as well as cloud computing (cloud computing). In addition, the conference was held to identify the latest security design for the development of IoT devices and how to develop IoT devices with regard to safety aspects in the initial phase of development (Secure by Design).

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Abdul Fuad Abdul Rahman from MyVAC. The three-day conference was also attended by participants from South Africa and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). At this conference, CyberSecurity Malaysia presented Security IoT initiative entitled "IoT Security".

Based on the feedback, many foreign countries were impressed by Malaysia's initiative in addressing the IoT Security and this has highlighted the country's effort towards IoT development.
