Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between CyberSecurity Malaysia and Putra Intelek International College (PIIC), Seri Kembangan, Selangor

On January 5, 2016 there was a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signing ceremony between CyberSecurity Malaysia and Intellectual Putra International College (IIC). The ceremony was held at CyberSecurity Malaysia, Seri Kembangan.

The main program under this MoA is Information Security training managed by PIIC in collaboration with CyberSecurity Malaysia.

This MoA was signed by Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia and Dr. M. Barathan K. Muniyandy, Chief Executive Officer of PIIC.

This Memorandum of Agreement will establish a strategic partnership by providing professional training opportunities in cyber security not only to the students but also to the community of cyber security in Malaysia.

MOSTI Social Innovation Program (MSI) - Latihan Peningkatan Kecekapan Keselamatan Siber dan Maklumat for Sarawak dan Sabah
14 – 15 January & 28 – 29 January 2016

CyberSecurity Malaysia organized a training program to enhance the effectiveness of cyber security and information.

This training program was implemented under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI)’s program known as MOSTI Social Innovation or MSI. It was introduced to help the local community and improve the economic well-being through the implementation of services, skills upgrading or innovations that can be implemented in a sustainable manner.

In January 2016, this training program was held in two states, namely Sarawak on 14 and 15 January, and Sabah on 28 and 29 January.

In Sarawak, a total of 35 participants comprising of women entrepreneurs and youth from Kuching, who are also members of the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Associations of Malaysia - FEM and representatives from the Petra Jaya residents. The two (2) days training was organized with the cooperation of Kolej Komuniti Kuching and Pusat Khidmat Ahli Parlimen P194 Petra Jaya.

While in Sabah, a total of 38 participants comprising of members from the Council of Sandakan Women Development and Family and the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Associations of Malaysia - FEM participated in the training program held in cooperation with the Kolej Komuniti Sandakan.

The training program managed to expose participants to the various services provided by CyberSecurity Malaysia, such as Cyber999 Help Center and Malaysia Trustmark.

Kaspersky Lab Partner Summit 2016, Bali, Indonesia
15 January 2016

On January 15, 2016, CyberSecurity Malaysia took part in the Kaspersky Lab Partner Summit 2016 held in Bali, Indonesia.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation at the summit which was organized by NT PT Nusantara Utama Technology, Indonesia is a continuation of a working visit conducted by CyberSecurity Malaysia to the Kaspersky Lab’s headquarters in Russia in 2015.

At this Summit, CyberSecurity Malaysia presented a paperwork titled "Cyber ​​Forensics Investigation Center - CyberFIC". CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Dr. Aswami Mohd Ariffin, Vice President of Cyber ​​Security Response Services and Megat Muazzam Abdul Muttalib, Head of Malaysia Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCERT).

In addition, it is a recognition for CyberSecurity Malaysia’s expertise. Its participation in the Summit has also reinforced the strategic partnership between CyberSecurity Malaysia and Kaspersky in addressing malware threat and threat detection technology or "Advance Persistance Threat" (APT).

CyberSecurity Malaysia’s participation in this Summit demonstrated its commitment in dealing with cyber security incidents.

Malaysian Common Criteria Evaluation Certification Project for Hewlett-Packed Enterprise Products, Beijing, China
16 - 24 January 2016

CyberSecurity Malaysia joined ATE (Functional Testing) group of project testing and evaluation on ​​the products of Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, including HSR 6600 Series, HSR 6800 Series and MSR1000 Series Routers ranging from 16 to 24 January 2016 in Beijing.

The process of testing, evaluation and review of documentation and procedures were carried out in order to award the Malaysian Common Criteria Certification (MyCC) to products manufactured by Hewlett-Packard Enterprise.

The testing that was carried out focused on the safety specification as set out within the scope of the project. The results found that the products meet the criteria underlined by the Common Criteria ISO / IEC 15408 and 18045.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's involvement in the assessment process and tests proved that global organizations recognize the expertise and capabilities of CyberSecurity Malaysia to issue certificates based on the Malaysian Common Criteria certification services (YCC).

Program Amanat Tahun Baru dan Hari Inovasi, National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), Kuala Lumpur

On January 19, 2016, CyberSecurity Malaysia took part in Program Amanat Tahunan dan Hari Inovasi by National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN).

CyberSecurity Malaysia's as an exhibitor was given an opportunity to introduce its functions and roles as an agency expert. CyberSecurity Malaysia also describes its technical services to  PTPTN employees.

The Primary Research 2016 Workshop, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Kedah
21 January 2016

On January 21, 2016, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in "The Primary Research 2016" organized by the Research and Innovation Management Centre (RIMC), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).

The one-day workshop was attended by UUM lecturers and staff. It created awareness about research opportunities and strategies to get research grants from agencies such as the Ministry of Education (MOE) as well as public agencies and the private sector.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Lt. Col. Sazali Sukardi (Retired), Vice President, Strategic Research. At the workshop, CyberSecurity Malaysia became one of the panels at the session entitled "Research That Matters".

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation has successfully introduced CyberSecurity Malaysia to UUM officers and staff. In addition, CyberSecurity Malaysia was recognized and invited to participate in a workshop as this agency is a leader and expert in the field of cyber security.

Work Visit by the H.E Begum Tarana Halim, State Minister of Post and Telecommunication and Information Technology, Government of Bangladesh to CyberSecurity Malaysia
21 January 2016

On January 21, 2016, CyberSecurity Malaysia welcomed a visit from Bangladesh Delegation led by Her Excellency Begum Taranan Halim, Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Bangladesh.

This delegation was welcomed by YABhg. Tan Sri Dato' Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi Mohamed (Retired), Chairman of the Board of Directors, CyberSecurity Malaysia.

During the visit, this delegation was briefed on the functions and role of CyberSecurity Malaysia. They also visited the Digital Forensics Laboratory, MyCERT and Security Assurance.

This visit has strengthened strategic partnership between Malaysia and Bangladesh, especially in the field of cyber security.

MOSTI Social Innovation Program (MSI) - Ops Jelajah Cyber 2.0 Edisi Pahang, Jengka, Pahang
24 - 25 January 2016

On January 24 and 25, 2016, CyberSecurity Malaysia organized ​​Ops Jelajah Cyber 2.0. This initiative was implemented under MOSTI Social Innovation Program or MSI.

The two-day program was held in Dewan Peneroka, Bandar Tun Abdul Razak, Jengka. Among the services offered through this program are Data Recovery, Data Sanitization and Digital Forensics. In addition, this program becomes a platform to introduce Entrepreneurship Development Program MyCyberSecurity Clinic (MyCSC). It is a program to develop MyCSC outlets to spur the development of entrepreneurship in the field of cyber security in Malaysia. MyCSC also is a touch point for the people to experience cyber security services provided by CyberSecurity Malaysia.

Ops Jelajah Cyber 2.0 aims to nurture and create public awareness about cyber security, especially among Internet users, hence, increasing the number of IT literate among Malaysians.

Ops Jelajah Cyber 2.0 is a continuation of Ops Jelajah Cyber organized by CyberSecurity Malaysia in 2015 following the massive flood that hit the country in 2014. It was conducted to help flood victims recover data and information stored in their electronic devices and ICT gadgets destroyed in the flood.

Seminar on Consumer Protection Knowledge in the Digital Era: Consumer Protection Policy on Cross-border Purchasing in ASEAN, Bangkok, Thailand

CyberSecurity Malaysia was invited to participate in a seminar on Consumer Protection Knowledge in the Digital Era: Consumer Protection Policy on Cross-border Purchasing in ASEAN held in Bangkok, Thailand.

This seminar organized by the Office of the Consumer Protection Board, Thailand, was attended by more than 120 participants.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Mr Lee Hwee Hsiung, Head of the Cyber Security Professional Development Department. He also became a panel in the second session of the seminar entitled "The Importance of Cyber Security for Consumer and The Best Practice on Consumer Data Privacy."

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation has strengthened its  position as a cyber security specialist center in Southeast Asia.

CyberSecurity Forum: International Collaboration For Safer World 2016, Manila, Filipina
26 January 2016

On January 26, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in a Forum: International Collaboration For Safer World 2016, organized by CONNECT2SEA in Manila.

This annual event was organized by Asia Pacific Advanced Network (APAN) and attended by more than 300 participants from various organizations, research and education networks, academies and government economic countries in Asia and Oceania.

The purpose of this forum was to gather researchers from North America and Europe as well as ICT policy makers to discuss and exchange ideas and experiences on cyber security initiatives in their countries.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Ismamuradi Bin Dato' Hj Abdul Kadir, Head of the Department of Strategic Management. He delivered a presentation titled "Game Changer in the Making of the ASEAN Country as Cybersecurity Hub".

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in the forum was an opportunity for a strategic partnership in the field of cyber security among organizations ASEAN countries of as well as others, specifically the European Union.

2016 International Conference On Information In Business And Technology Management (I2BM 2016), Melaka
26 – 28 January 2016

On January 26 and 28, 2016, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the International Conference on Information Technology in Business and Management organized by the Malaysian Technical Scientist Association Malaysia (MALTESAS) and University Malaysia Perlis (UMP).

This conference combined three (3) significant conferences that are :

  1. 2016 Applied Mathematics in Science & Engineering International Conference (APPEMSE);
  2. 2016 International Symposium on Information and Internet Technology (SYMINTECH);
  3. 2016 International Conference on Information in Business & Technology (I2BM).

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Mohd Shamir Hashim, Senior Vice President, International and Government Relations Division of CyberSecurity Malaysia. He presented a journal entitled "Elements in the Cyber ​​Security Framework for Protecting the Critical Information Infrastructure Against Cyber ​​Threats".

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this conference was an opportunity to share expertise, experience and information relating to the national security of critical information from cyber threats. In addition, it strengthened the existing network of research collaborations between CyberSecurity Malaysia with various parties in the conference.

Seminar Defending Cyber Threats - Insider & Beyond, Putrajaya

CyberSecurity Malaysia took part in Seminar Defending Cyber-Insider Threats & Beyond, organized by Originex Sdn Bhd at Dewan Perdana Putra, Putrajaya Shangri La Hotel. This seminar was held on January 28, 2016. It exposed participants towards cyber security issues that widespread in the country.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Lt. Col. Sazali Sukardi (Retired), Vice President, Strategic Research. He delivered a presentation on "The Current Landscape Cyber Security - How To Stay Ahead".

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this seminar was an opportunity to introduce CyberSecurity Malaysia as the lead agency for cyber security. In addition, it is also an honor for CyberSecurity Malaysia to deliver a presentation at the seminar.
