Karnival Creativity & Science 4U, Kuching, Sarawak
4 – 6 March 2016

CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the Karnival Creativity & Science 4U organized by Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) at Dewan Suarah, Kuching, Sarawak from 4 to 6 March 2016. The event was officiated by the Hon. Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Haji Adenan bin Haji Satem, Chief Minister of Sarawak. More than 5,000 visitors attended the carnival held over three days.

Karnival Creativity & Science 4U is an annual program of MOSTI in its efforts to disseminate the importance of science, technology and innovation (STI) among Malaysians.

At the event, CyberSecurity Malaysia introduced its services and programs to the people of Sarawak. In addition, CyberSAFE Quest involving school students were organized to provide insight to students about the importance of cyber security.

Strategic Collaboration in Digital Forensics Quality Management System, Information Technology Authority, Oman, Oman
6 – 17 March 2016

From 6 to 17 March 2016, CyberSecurity Malaysia organized a workshop to provide Quality Management System (QMS) for digital forensic laboratory of National Digital Forensics Laboratory, Information Technology Authority, Oman.

The QMS training program provided by CyberSecurity Malaysia to the officials of the Information Technology Authority, Oman includes testing the efficiency and competency.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Sarah Khadijah Taylor, Senior Digital Forensic Analyst Project as Head of Project Development, while Tajul Josalmin Tajul Ariffin, Senior Digital Forensic Analyst as the Manager of Project Development.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's involvement in the provision of this service proved its digital forensics ability is recognized in the international arena. CyberSecurity Malaysia also strengthened its position as a reference center for cyber security not only locally but also internationally.

Steering Committee Meeting Vol. 2/2016 For Organization of Islamic Coopertaion – Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT), Yogyakarta, Indonesia
15 - 16 March 2016

On 15 and 16 March 2016, CyberSecurity Malaysia organized Steering Committee Meeting Vol. 2/2016 of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation - Computer Emergency Response Team - (OIC-CERT) in Yogjakarta, Indonesia.

The meeting which was co-organized by the Indonesia Security Incident Response Team on Internet Infrastructure (IDSIRTII) was held to share information and discuss strategic directions, challenges and current issues related to cyber security among OIC-CERT members. In addition, it was also a platform to enhance cooperation in the field of cyber security.

In this meeting, CyberSecurity Malaysia tabled four (4) papers, which are Cybersecurity Strategic Plan for the OIC Member States, Global Accredited Cybersecurity Education (ACE) Scheme, OIC-CERT Malware Research and Coordination Facility and the OIC-CERT Financial Utilization Guideline.

CyberSecurity Malaysia participation as the Permanent Secretariat of the OIC-CERT at this conference created an opportunity to highlight the contributions, expertise and roles of CyberSecurity Malaysia in the field of cyber security for OIC members. In addition, it also improves CyberSecurity Malaysia ability in facing cyber threats through the sharing of information, expertise, research and best practices with OIC-CERT computer emergency response team.

2016 Conference On Advanced Research on Business, Management and Humanities (ARBUHUM2016), Bandung, Indonesia
15 - 17 March 2016

On 15 until 17 March 2016, CyberSecurity Malaysia attended the 2016 Conference On Advanced Research on Business, Management and Humanities (ARBUHUM2016) organized by Malaysian Technical Scientist Congress (NTSC) supported by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

Roshdi Ahmad, Senior Vice President, Corporate & Strategic Industries Development represented CyberSecurity Malaysia. He delivered a presentation entitled "Influencing Factor User Adoption of Malaysia Cyber ​​Security Clinic (MyCSC) Services".

The conference was participated by researchers, academics and organizations from the private and government sector. It has strengthened the existing cooperation in order to reinforce future researches.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this conference was an opportunity to promote and introduce this agency to the international community and strengthen its position as a cyber security specialist in the region.

3rd International Conference on Communication and Computer Engineering (ICOCOE 2016), Bandung, Indonesia
15 – 17 March 2016

CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the 3rd International Conference on Communication and Computer Engineering (ICOCOE 2016) in Bandung, Indonesia from 15 to 17 March 2016.

This conference which was organized by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Malaysia Technical Scientist Association (MALTESAS) has became a platform for intellectual discussion among researchers and industry practitioners to share new ideas, research results and practical development in areas related to computers and communications.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Mohamad Nizam Kassim, Senior Analyst, Department of Strategic Research and Advisory Services. He delivered a presentation entitled "Enhanced Affixation Word Stemmer with Reducer to Solve Error Stemming Stemming Affixation Errors".

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this conference is recognition by the organizers on the expertise and abilities of CyberSecurity Malaysia in the field of cyber security in the region. It was also an opportunity for CyberSecurity Malaysia to strengthen its position as an industry leader in cyber security.

Development of the Data Visualization System and Digital Forensics Imager (Forensic Imager X-Tool) and Working Visit to Kharismatic System Development Center (Indonesia) Sdn Bhd / Hartama Technology, Bandung, Indonesia
16 - 19 March 2016

CyberSecurity Malaysia aims to establish strategic cooperation with Kharismatic (Indonesia) Sdn Bhd and Hartama Technology Indonesia to develop data visualization system related to cyber threats (Botnet) and the development of forensic imager (Forensic Imager X-Tool). The meeting was held in Bandung, Indonesia from 16 to 19 March 2016.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's delegation consisted of Dr. Zahri Yunos, Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Aswami Fadillah Mohd Ariffin, Vice President of Cyber ​​Security Responsive Services, Mohd Zabri Adil Talib, Head of Digital Forensics and Fadzlee Mohamed Sulaiman, Senior Analyst Digital Forensic Department.

Through this strategic partnership, the entity agreed to share its expertise and experience in developing competitive systems for data visualization for CyberSecurity Malaysia especially for CyberDEF services. It will be a model project and a new concept for data visualization system associated with cyber threats (botnet).

In addition, product innovation will also be produced by including elements of forensic readiness to complete the security aspect for the purpose of preserving digital evidence to maintain its integrity and to be accepted and applied to the legislative process.

Courtesy Visit by YB. Dato’ Norsabrina Mohd Nor, Kedah EXCO for Science, Innovation, and Information Technology, Communication and Human Resources to CyberSecurity Malaysia
21 March 2016

On March 21, 2016, CyberSecurity Malaysia received a courtesy visit from the Hon. Dato’ Norsabrina Mohd Nor, Kedah EXCO for Science, Innovation, and Information Technology, Communication and Human Resources to CyberSecurity Malaysia. The visit which inclusive of three Kedah officials aimed to review closely on the role and responsibilities of CyberSecurity Malaysia in the construction and development of cyber security industry in Malaysia.

In this session, the delegation was presented about CyberSecurity Malaysia corporate services by Lt. Col. Mustaffa Ahmad (Retired), Vice President of Outreach and Capacity Development. The delegation also visited Digital Forensics lab, incident control centers and malware in MyCERT Department.

The visit created a strategic collaboration between CyberSecurity Malaysia and Kedah State Government in preserving the cyber security industry, particularly in the state of Kedah Darul Aman.

CyberSecurity Malaysia Appreciation Ceremony 2015, Kuala Lumpur
22 March 2016

On March 22, 2016, CyberSecurity Malaysia organized an Appreciation Ceremony for 2015. The event was officiated by Hon. Datuk Seri Panglima Madius Tangau, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation and was attended by the Hon. Datuk Dr. Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dato' Sri Dr. Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur, Secretary General of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and Tan Sri Dato' Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi Mohamed, Chairman of the Board of Directors, CyberSecurity Malaysia.

The annual event was held as a tribute to the local media who supported cyber security issues. There were nine (9) categories awarded to the most supportive media. They were awarded based on the PR value of published articles and media coverage provided by the local media during 2015. (Link to Press Release)

Meanwhile, at that event, certificates were presented to the recipients who provide services to CyberSecurity Malaysia. 16 recipients locally and foreigners received respective certifications on CyberSecurity Malaysia Information Security Management System Audit and Certification (CSM27001) Scheme, Malaysia Common Criteria (MyCC) Scheme, Malaysia Trustmark for Private Sector. CyberSecurity Malaysia Appreciation Ceremony strengthened the cooperation and good relations with the media and organizations from various sectors. In addition it further strengthened its position as a leader in cyber security in Malaysia.

4th Annual Cyber Intelligence Asia Conference and Exhibition Bangkok, Thailand
22 – 23 March 2016

On 22 and 23 March 2016, CyberSecurity Malaysia took part in 4th Annual Cyber ​​Intelligence Asia Conference and Exhibition held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The conference was organized by the Intelligence-Sec Limited (UK), in association with Thailand's National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC) (as the Official Partner). It was held in order to share information and discuss issues relating to cybercrime faced in the Asia-Pacific region and share knowledge with representatives from the Asia Pacific and Thailand's development strategy about cyber security.

Various issues related to cyber security were discussed in this conference. CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Fazlan Abdullah, Head of Government Relations. He delivered a presentation entitled "A Holistic Approach For Cyber ​​Security and Critical Information Infrastructure Protection".

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this conference provided numerous positive impacts. It discussed the case study and best practices in implementation of cyber security of other countries and share experiences on the implementation of the National Cyber ​​Security Policy to the participants, to establish close cooperation among the agency and other participants for cyber safety and to explore opportunities for potential collaboration.

Exhibition at the Hari Bersama Pelanggan Pusat Teknologi dan Komunikasi (PTMK) 2016, Kuala Lumpur
24 March 2016

CyberSecurity Malaysia was invited to participate in the exhibition in conjunction with the customer day of the Pusat Teknologi dan Komunikasi (PTMK). This event was organized by the National Defence University of Malaysia (UPNM) on March 24, 2016.

The program was conducted to provide information and disclosure about the latest cyber security issues to UPNM and the public who attended the program.

CyberSecurity Malaysia demonstrated cyber security services including MyCyberSecurity Clinic (MyCSC). More than 300 visitors attended the exhibition space to obtain information about cyber security.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this program provided an opportunity for agencies to promote and introduce its services to the public, especially to UPNM.

Work Visit by YB. Dato’ Shahaniza Shamsuddin, Pahang EXCO of Women Development, Communications and Multimedia to CyberSecurity Malaysia

On March 24, 2016, there was a work visit by a delegation from the Pahang State Secretary Office, headed by the Hon. Dato' Shahaniza Shamsuddin, EXCO of Women Development, Communications and Multimedia of Pahang to CyberSecurity Malaysia.

This delegation of 40 officials was welcomed by Dr. Zahri Yunos, Chief Operating Officer, CyberSecurity Malaysia. The delegates visited MyCyberSecurity Clinic, Digital Forensics Laboratory, Malware Research Center and Incident Control Centre at MyCERT.

In addition to understanding the roles and responsibilities of CyberSecurity Malaysia, this work visit was an opportunity for both sides to establish strategic cooperation in the field of cyber security.

International Conference on ICT in Education 2016, Tanjung Malim, Perak

On March 25, 2016, CyberSecurity Malaysia took part in the bi-annually International Conference on ICT in Education Conference 2016 organized by Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI).

This conference was a platform for researchers, scholars, educators, practitioners, and application developers to share and disseminate knowledge and information related to Information and Communication Technology that focused on education.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Dr. Solahuddin Shamsuddin, Chief Technology Officer, where he delivered a presentation titled "Staying Ahead of Evolving Cyber Threats".

CyberSecurity Malaysia’s participation in this conference was an opportunity to further strengthen its position as a leading agency in the field of cyber security.

Regional Workshop On Undergraduates and Radicalisation, Kuala Lumpur
31 March 2016

CyberSecurity Malaysia took part in the Regional Workshop On Undergraduates and Radicalisation organized by the Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism (SEARCCT) on 31 March 2016.

The program was attended by 40 government officials from ASEAN countries, including Brunei, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines and Malaysia.

The program was organized to provide exposure to issues of radicalization in universities and to discuss trends and methods of radicalization committed by the terrorists. They also discussed the use of social media as a tool for and to share best practices to prevent radicalization at the university.

Dr. Zahri Yunos, Chief Operating Officer, CyberSecurity Malaysia was invited as a panel in a session entitled "The Force Awakens: Social Media as a tool for Radicalisation and De-Radicalisation" to share his in that field. Dr Zahri also presented a paper entitled "The Influence of Social Media in Radicalisation" in the program.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's involvement in this program was an opportunity to promote CyberSecurity Malaysia as an expert in the field of cyber security, as well as to strengthen cooperation and good relations with the industry in cyber security initiatives in Malaysia.

Signing Ceremony of the Implementation, Adaptation and Certification of ISO 22301 Project – Business Continuity Management Systems, Kuala Lumpur
31 March 2016

On March 31, 2016 there was a signing ceremony for the Implementation, Adaptation and Certification of ISO 22301 Project - Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS).

The ceremony was held to officiate the beginning of ISO 22301 - BCMS for two selected pilot agencies, namely Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) and the Malaysian Nuclear Agency (ANM). CyberSecurity Malaysia acts as the certification body for certifying both the pilot agency.

The ceremony was officiated by the Hon. Dato' Seri Zainal Rahim bin Seman, Director General of MAMPU, Hon. Dato' Dr. Mohammed Bin Lebai Juri, Director General of ANM and YBrs. Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia.

With the implementation of this pilot project, it will standardize service continuity management system in the public sector. The project will also serve as a benchmark for the level of preparedness of public sector agencies, led by MAMPU. In addition, it will help CyberSecurity Malaysia to become ISO 22301 Certification Body.

BlackHat Asia 2016, Singapore
31 March - 1 April 2016

On 31 March to 1 April 2016, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the Blackhat Asia 2016 organized by the US Blackhat community in Singapore.

The cyber ​​security technical conference was a platform for experts, researchers, scholars and practitioners of IT security professionals to share information on IT information security research, product development and safety technology on the latest trends related to cyber threats.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Dr. Aswami Ariffin, Vice President of Cyber ​​Security Responsive Services and Megat Muazzam Abdul Muttalib, Head of Malaysia Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCERT).

CyberSecurity Malaysia participation in this conference further strengthened its position as a leading agency in the field of cyber security as well as improved efforts to address issues and problems related to cyber threats.

In addition, information and case studies that were obtained will be used for the development projects, Coordinated Malware Eradication and Remediation Project (CMERP) and also support services CyberDEF in CyberSecurity Malaysia.
