CONFLUENCE 2017 - 7th International Conference On Cloud Computing, Data Science and Engineering, Uttar Pradesh, India
12 – 13 January 2017

On 12 and 13 January 2017, CyberSecurity Malaysia has participated in Confluence 2017 – 7th International Conference On Cloud Computing, Data Science and Engineering organized by Amity School of Engineering & Technology, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida, India.

 

CONFLUENCE 2017 is a seminar that incorporates technical symposium, tutorial and workshop to discuss research findings on cloud computerization, data science and engineering. It serves as a platform for academics, scientists and industry players to exchange opinions and share information on the development of IT security.

 

A total of 150 participants attended the seminar. CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Wafa binti Mohd Kharudin and Nur Afifah binti Mohd Saupi from its Digital Forensics Department. CyberSecurity Malaysia representatives also presented research papers under Track 7 – Image and Video Processing.

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia’s involvement in the seminar promotes its expertise in the field of digital forensics apart from enhancing knowledge to further strengthen handling of cases which related to digital evidence analysis.

National e-Commerce Strategic Roadmap-NeSR Workshop, Kuala Lumpur
16 - 17 January 2017

On 16 and 17 January 2017, CyberSecurity Malaysia has taken part in the National e-Commerce Strategic Roadmap-NeSR workshop organised by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI).

 

This workshop was held to identify and specify programs to be implemented in 2017 under the National e-Commerce Strategic Roadmap-NeSR. It was attended by 100 participants from various Government agencies, organisations and local industry.

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia involvement in NeSR reflects its important role in supporting e-Commerce at the national level. CyberSecurity Malaysia also helps local e-Commerce industry to ensure online business in Malaysia could be trusted and indirectly increase the country’s economy.

Discover the Evolution of Cybersecurity Seminar, Kuala Lumpur
17 January 2017

CyberSecurity Malaysia has taken part in Discover the Evolution of Cybersecurity Seminar organised by INGRAM Micro on 17 January 2017. The seminar was held to share information on the accelerating pace of technological evolution which is moving in equal pace as the rampant cybercrime activities.

 

At the seminar, CyberSecurity Malaysia Strategic Research Division Senior Vice President Lt. Col. Sazali Sukardi (Retired) delivered a presentation on the current trends of cyber security. He also shared his views on initiatives that should be taken by all quarters in strengthening cyber defence to reduce cyber crime cases.

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia’s participation in the seminar has reinforced its position as a lead agency in the field of cyber security in Malaysia besides sharing information and expertise related to cyber security with participants at the seminar.

TF-CSIRT 50th Meeting and Europe FIRST 2017 Annual Conference, Valencia, Spain
23 - 25 January 2017

CyberSecurity Malaysia has participated in a technical symposium, presentation of working paper and & committee member meeting  during Europe FIRST 2017 Annual Conference in Valencia, Spain from 23 to 25 January 2017.

 

The conference which was organized by the U.S. FIRST serves as a forum for discussion amongst FIRST members in the region to share information on the latest IT security threats, incidents, IT devices and issues that affect response operations and security team.. The seminar also discussed mechanism and methods curb system and network intrusion by external parties by implementing the best security measures.

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Sharifah Roziah Mohd Kassim from the Malaysia Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCERT). She also delivered a presentation of a working paper entitled “Building a Safe Cyber Security Nation through Threat Intelligent Information Sharing between CSIRTs and CNII: Malaysia Case Study”. More than 100 participants from various countries including Japan, Bangladesh, Australia, Norway, the U.S., the U.K., Lithuania, Switzerland and Portugal were present at the seminar.

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia’s participation  has successfully strengthen Malaysia’s position at in the field of informtion  technology security the international level through knowledge sharing with IT experts from all over the world.

Workshop to Refine the National ICT Security Discourse (NICTSeD) 2017 Competition, Kuala Lumpur
24 – 25 January 2017

On 24 dan 25 January 2017, a workshop was held to refine National ICT Security Discourse (NICTSeD) - CyberSAFE Challenge Trophy 2017.

 

The workshop updated the terms and conditions of the competition while the topics of competition were identified and discussed.

 

A total of 15 participants who are officers from the Education Technology Division, Ministry of Education and selected teachers with experience in planning, rules and management of discourse at the national level were present at the workshop organized by CyberSecurity Malaysia.

The International Cybersecurity Forum (FIC), Lille, France
24 - 25 January 2017

CyberSecurity Malaysia has participated in The International Cybersecurity Forum (FIC) 2017 organised by Gendarmerie Nationale, CEIS & Euratechnoloogies in Lille, Perancis on 24 and 25 January 2017.

 

FIC is a cyber security event under the auspices of France President, His Excellency François Hollande where it is the biggest cyber security event in France incorporating conference, workshop and exhibition. A total of 6,200 participants, 250 presenters and 300 exhibitors were involved in the FIC 2017 which which comprised of 30 workshops and 20 conference sessions.

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia ws represented by its Chief Operating Officer Dr. Zahri Yunos and Cyber Security Pro-Ative Services Division Senior Vice President Dr. Mohd Aswami Ariffin. During the event, Dr. Zahri was invited to present a working paper entitled “Building SOC v2.0”.

 

Apart from that, CyberSecurity Malaysia’s participation was also to look at possibility of collaboration in the field of cyber security with international agencies which also involves FIC 2017, including Alliacom which is a French cyber security organisation headquartered in Paris.

 

The invitation to this presentation was an international recognition on CyberSecurity Malaysia’s capability and expertise in the field of cyber security apart from an opportunity for the agency to strengthen its position internationally.
