We are pleased to meet you again in the first edition of CyberNEWS for 2017. I wish to express my highest gratitude and appreciation for the continuous support for this quarterly publication. Since it’s the first publication for 2017, I would like to take this opportunity to wish Happy New Year to CyberNEWS loyal readers.
2017 is expected to be a year faced with tougher cyber security challenges. This is in view of the technology trends, which have exposed weaknesses that can be exploited by cyber criminals to continue with their cyber threats agenda. Cyber espionage, hacktivism, malware infection and social media abuse are threats that all parties should give more attention to. Similary, cyber attaks against the national critical information infrastructure are expected to increase at the global level involving various sectors including banking and finance as well as health and medical. Cyber crimes have become major threats to not only the private sector, individuals but also to the Government and the country.
Given these factors, cyber security has drawn universal attention. In this context, CyberSecurity Malaysia will continue to push ahead with the national cyber security agenda and mobilise efforts through various programmes and initiatives with more comprehensive and holistic approaches to counter the current cyber challenges.
2017 will see CyberSecurity Malaysia’s active involvement in various programmes and events. Apart from that, more collaborations are expected to be sealed to establish closer ties and cooperation in cyber security that will be realised through public-private partnerships to ensure a safer and reliable cyber environment.
I hope that you will continue to be with us throughout 2017 to witness cyber security developments in Malaysia. Continue to support us and spread information on cyber security to your families and friends.
Thank you.
