ConnectGov Leader Summit, Ulaanbataar, Mongolia
5 - 7 July 2017

CyberSecurity Malaysia was invited to attend the ConnectGov Leader Summit organized by CIO Academy Asia in Ulaanbataar, Mongolia from July 5-7, 2017. This summit is a platform for ASEAN countries to discuss the latest developments related to cyber security.

Lt Col Sazali Sukardi (Retired), Senior Vice President, Strategic Research Division has represented CyberSecurity Malaysia. He has made a presentation entitled "Responding to the ever shifting cyber security landscape". At the presentation, he shared statistics on cyber security incidents in Malaysia, where in general ICT advancement will also increase the percentage of cyber crime threats in a country, including Malaysia.

The involvement of CyberSecurity Malaysia at this summit is a recognition and provides opportunities for CyberSecurity Malaysia to be globally known as well as sharing expertise in cyber security.

17th Regional Asia Information Security Exchange (RAISE) Forum Meeting, Hong Kong
6 - 7 July 2017

CyberSecurity Malaysia has attended 17th Regional Information Security Exchange (RAISE) Forum Meeting in Hong Kong on 6 and 7 July 2017.

The RAISE Forum began in 2004 as a platform for the Asian regional standard community to discuss and exchange information on information security issues. It also serves as an avenue for delegates to discuss matters on information security strategies, policies and practices, including discussions on issues of development, implementation and standardization related to security in Asia.

At this forum, participation consists of representatives from Singapore, Japan, South Korea, China-Taipei, China and Malaysia. CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Sabariah Ahmad, Head of Security and Best Practice Management Department. The RAISE Forum also addresses various issues related to information security standards where information sharing and discussion on new issues have provided useful information to CyberSecurity Malaysia. Additionally, the participation has also opened up opportunities for CyberSecurity Malaysia to establish business collaboration relationships with other organizations in the Asian region.

Strategic Research Collaboration Meetings And Working Visit to INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation, Singapore
7 July 2017

On 7 July 2017, CyberSecurity Malaysia has attended strategic research and collaboration meetings as well as a working visit to INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI) in Singapore.

The purpose of this strategic visit was to learn INTERPOL's digital forensic laboratory methodology, gain the exposure of technology used, exchange views and experience in operations, coordination and collaboration with industry experts as well as seek opportunities to collaborate with INTERPOL.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Mohd Zabri Adil Talib and Tajul Josalmin Tajul Ariffin of the Digital Forensic Department. Representatives from Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) also participated in the visits and meetings.

Trend Micro Deep Discovery Application Installation and Application Training, Manila, Philippines
11 - 13 July 2017

CyberSecurity Malaysia has participated in the Trend Micro Deep Discovery Application Installation and Application Training in Manila, Philippines on 11 to 13 July 2017.

The course organized by Trend Micro Malaysia was held to give participants exposure on detection, analysis and response to cyber threats on computer networks in an organization using the Trend Micro Deep Discovery application.

CyberSecurity Malaysia delegation consists of Dr. Aswami Fadillah Mohd Ariffin, Senior Vice President, Cyber Security Response Service Division, Mohamed Fadzlee Sulaiman, Mohd Fauzi Darus, Zainurrasyid Abdullah and Muhammad Fadzlan Zainal from the Digital Forensic Department.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this training has strengthened its capabilities and improved CyberDEF's team skills in particular and CyberSecurity Malaysia in general towards becoming the National Reference Center on cyber security matters. In addition, it also fosters good relations and collaboration with various stakeholders in the initiative to strengthen the capabilities of cyber threats.

AICB Global Banking Discourse Series: Cyber Landscape in the Malaysian Financial Industry, Kuala Lumpur

On July 17, 2017 CyberSecurity Malaysia has attended the AICB Global Banking Discourse Series: Cyber Landscape in the Malaysian Financial Industry. The program organized by the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB) was held at Sasana Kijang, Kuala Lumpur.

CyberSecurity Malaysia participation in this program aims to share information on strengthening cyber resistance especially in the banking industry.

Lt Col Sazali Sukardi (Retired), Senior Vice President, Strategic Research Division represented CyberSecurity Malaysia and was one of the panelists at a discussion session entitled "Building Cyber Resilience". During the session, he shared the importance of strengthening cyber defense infrastructure in an organization, including financial institutions in the face of various risks of cyber threats.

The involvement of CyberSecurity Malaysia in this program demonstrates the recognition of the financial and banking industry in Malaysia on the expertise and skills of this agency in cyber security.

The Memorandum of Agreement Exchange between CyberSecurity Malaysia, Myung Information Technologies (MIT) and Myung Inovasi Terkini Sdn Bhd (Myung Malaysia) and Strategic Working Visit to Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) and Myung Information Technologies (MIT), Seoul, South Korea
17 – 18 July 2017

On 17 to 18 July 2017, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) exchange ceremony was held between CyberSecurity Malaysia, Myung Information Technologies (MIT) and Myung Inovasi Terkini Sdn Bhd (Myung Malaysia). At the same time a strategic work visit to Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) and Myung Information Technologies (MIT) Headquarters were held in Seoul, South Korea.

The tripartite MOA exchange was witnessed by YB Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation. Also presented were General Tan Sri Dato' Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi Mohamed (Retired), Chairman, Board of Directors, CyberSecurity Malaysia.

The exchange of tripartite agreements was done by Dato' Dr. Haji Amirudin Bin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia, Mr Myung Jae Lee, Chief Executive Officer of Myung Information Technologies Co. Ltd while Dato' Zakaria Nordin, who is the Chairman of Myung Inovasi Terkini Sdn Bhd (Myung Malaysia), represented the organization.

Through the signing of the agreement, MIT Korea and Myung Malaysia will be technical partners with CyberSecurity Malaysia to provide technical expertise and digital forensic training program to MyCyberSecurity Clinic (MyCSC). This Technology Exchange has also enhanced the technical capabilities and expertise of CyberSecurity Malaysia in the digital forensic field in Malaysia especially with regard to data recovery.

The Malaysian delegation also visited several technology companies in South Korea, including Digital Forensic Myung Information Technologies Co. Ltd and Ochang Scientific Local Industrial Complex.

Through a series of visits and signing of this agreement, CyberSecurity Malaysia, in particular the MyCyberSecurity Clinic will be able to learn the latest techniques and use of state-of-the-art tools and get guidance from Myung IT experts in handling cases related to data recovery services.

In addition, it also provides an opportunity for both countries to further collaborate on potential areas of cyber security such as capacity building and research.

Cyber Security Awareness & Acculturation Program - CyberSAFE 2017 Dialogue: "The Evolution of Current Digital Media - Challenges And Roles In Unifying National Unity ", Putrajaya

On July 30, 2017, Cyber Security Awareness & Acculturation Program - CyberSAFE 2017 Dialogue entitled "The Evolution of Current Digital Media - Challenges And Role In Unifying National Unity " took place in Putrajaya.

This first CyberSAFE Dialogue serves as a platform for all parties to understand and identify issues related to cyber security, to provide the parties with the opportunity to respond promptly and effectively to a cyber threat, assist in the development of more effective policies and strategies for addressing increasingly complex cyber security issues and strengthening their respective roles in the pursuit of the State's prosperity and security.

At the Dialogue, five panelists delivered their insights and discussed arising issues. They are Lt Kol Mustaffa bin Ahmad (Retired), Senior Vice President, Outreach and Capacity Development, CyberSecurity Malaysia, Puan Ong Chin Lan, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Division, Bukit Aman (PDRM), Puan Hashimah Hashim, Director, Community Engagement Department, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Puan Kavitha Muthy, Senior Consultant, EC Council representing the industry and Mr. Afiq Hanif, Senior Correspondent, Harian Metro representing the media.

At the end of the program, question and answer session was held regarding cyber security issues between the guests and the panelists. The success of CyberSAFE Dialogue sets a benchmark for it to be CyberSecurity Malaysia's annual event.

Armed Forces Defense Training College (MPAT) Course 37/2017, Kuala Lumpur
21 July 2017

On July 21, 2017 CyberSecurity Malaysia was invited to deliver a talk on cyber security as well as the current trends at the course organized by the Armed Forces Defense College (MPAT) held together with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

The course was attended by officers ranked Lieutenant Colonel and Colonel of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and from foreign countries such as Brunei Darul Salam, the Philippines, Jordan, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and the United States.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Lt Col Sazali Sukardi (Retired), Senior Vice President, Strategic Research Division. At the talk entitled "The Cyber Warfare," he described the concepts and implications of cyber warfare, explaining the nature and anatomy of cyber attacks and sharing information on measures to address the cyber crime threats and initiatives CyberSecurity Malaysia has done to address this problem.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this program has provided the opportunity to showcase leadership as a reference agency and expert in cyber security in Malaysia. It also enhances the visibility and commitment of CyberSecurity Malaysia in strengthening security in Malaysia.

ICPSES 2017 - 19th International Conference of Pedagogical Sciences and Education Strategies, Istanbul, Turkey

CyberSecurity Malaysia has participated in the 19th International Conference of Pedagogical Sciences and Education Strategies (ICPSES) organized by the World Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology (WASET) in Istanbul from 23 to 27 July 2017.

ICPSES 2017 is a platform for scientists, researchers and academicians to present research findings and share knowledge in Pedagogical Science and Education Strategy. It also provides forums for participants to discuss and find solutions to the latest innovations, trends and cyber threats faced in this technological era which also includes the discipline of Pedagogical Science and Education Strategy.

A total of 100 scientists, educators, researchers and ICT engineers from various countries including Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Algeria, Korea, Pakistan and Turkey attended the two-day conference.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Lt Kol Mustaffa bin Ahmad (Retired), Senior Vice President, Outreach & Capacity Development Division. At this conference, he presented a paper titled "Cyber Security Situational Awareness among Students: A Case Study in Malaysia".

CyberSecurity Malaysia's involvement at this conference has increased the credibility of CyberSecurity Malaysia internationally, raising cyber security awareness to participants from around the world, expanding collaborative networks with researchers, scientists and educators as well as gaining input to improve the content of cyber security awareness programs.

Industrial Control System – Cyber Security Management (ICS – CSMS) Course, Bandung, Indonesia

CyberSecurity Malaysia has attended the Industrial Control System - Cyber Security Management (ICS - CSMS) Course on 24 to 28 July 2017 organized by PT. Fedco International in Bandung, Indonesia.

As an agency entrusted with implementing SCADA Security Control Systems and SCADA Security Test Simulation Laboratory Project, CyberSecurity Malaysia always look for opportunities to improve its expertise and skills in the field.

Hence, in this course attendees learn the latest techniques on SCADA safety controls. Additionally, the course has also helped in establishing SCADA Security Experiments Simulation Laboratory at CyberSecurity Malaysia.

Zahrotul Munawwroh Muis from MyVAC Department represented CyberSecurity Malaysia.

DiGi’s Security Awareness Week, Shah Alam, Selangor
25 – 26 July 2017

CyberSecurity Malaysia has participated in DiGi's Security Awareness Week program at the DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd headquarters in Shah Alam, Selangor.

The security awareness week organized by DiGi Telecommunications was held to provide exposure to DiGi staff on cyber security. In the program, CyberSecurity Malaysia's representatives Faiszatulnasro Mohd Maksom and Afiq Asraf Mohd Azhar of the Malaysian Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCERT) have delivered a presentation about cyber security incidents reported by Internet users via the Cyber999 Help Center and shared the latest cyber security scenarios Malaysia as well as best practices and the importance of safeguarding personal data.

About 40 DiGi Telecommunications employees presented at this two-day program. In the program, CyberSecurity Malaysia also held an exhibition to publicize its functions, roles and services to DiGi's staff.

Launching of e-Lelong System Pilot Project for Affected Property Auction In High Court of Malaya, Kuantan, Pahang
27 July 2017

On July 27, 2017, e-Lelong System Pilot Project for Affected Properties Auction was launched in the High Court of Malaya. The ceremony took place in Kuantan, Pahang and was officiated by the Chief Justice, YAA Tan Sri Dato' Seri Md Raus bin Sharif.

The e-Auction system was introduced for the High Court to operate the Public Property Auction including the properties to be displayed for auction online. This system will enhance the quality of services provided by the High Court in Malaysia. The system also ensures confidentiality and can prevent information leakage. Meanwhile bidding can also be done without pressure and intervention from third parties or syndicates.

CyberSecurity Malaysia is committed to provide forensic readiness service. Through this service, the ability to store log data to process auctions can be enhanced. It also strives to block the system from any incidents or cyber threats such as malware infections besides ensuring the system can operate without interruption through periodic testing of stress tests.

The involvement of CyberSecurity Malaysia in strengthening the auction system of the High Court in Malaysia is a recognition of its expertise in cyber security. It has indirectly boosted CyberSecurity Malaysia's name as the leading cyber security agency in Malaysia.

2017 APISC Security Training Course, Seoul, Korea Selatan
31 July - 4 August 2017

CyberSecurity Malaysia has participated in the APISC Security Training Course security training program in Seoul, South Korea from July 31 to August 4, 2017.

The program organized by KrCERT/CC, Korea Internet Security Agency (KISA) was attended by 21 participants among them are police and operation and technical safety officers.

The APISC 2017 program is a platform for trainees from participating countries to study and share experiences on computer incident response and general cyber security areas, learn CSIRT's establishment and operations; and, share their own country experience in policy, legal and technological perspectives.
