4th Annual Coordination Meeting of OIC Institutions (ACMOI), Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

 

On 3rd and 4th December 2018, CyberSecurity Malaysia represented the Organization of Islamic Conference Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) to the 4th Annual Coordination Meeting of OIC Institutions (ACMOI) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The ACMOI meeting was held to facilitate coordination in implementing statements, resolutions, decisions and to identify the implementation strategy as well as proposed "2026 OIC STI Agenda” framework.

CyberSecurity Malaysia as an OIC-CERT Permanent Secretary, developed its reputation among the members of various international institutions and planned the OIC-CERT in line with 2026 OIC STI Agenda.

Interpol Shipborne Forum, Singapore

 

On 9 to 14 December 2018 CyberSecurity Malaysia attended Interpol Shipborne Forum in Singapore. The forum discussed the methods of investigation, analysis and challenges for "shipborne equipment", as well as enhanced the capability of investigating maritime criminal cases.

Mohd Sharizuan Mohd Omar and Nooraiman Noorashid of the Digital Forensic Department represented CyberSecurity Malaysia and present a case study titled "Shipborne Equipment Forensic (GPS Device)" in Malaysia.

In this conference, CyberSecurity Malaysia enhanced its capabilities in maritime investigation and conducted Shipborne equipment analysis for CyberCSI's digital forensic services and operations.

Visit by Minister of Communication and Multimedia to CyberSecurity Malaysia, Seri Kembangan

 

On December 17, 2018, Minister of Communications and Multimedia, YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo visited CyberSecurity Malaysia.

The visit aimed to introduce CyberSecurity Malaysia role and function, to the Minister and its delegation from Ministry Communications and Multimedia (KKMM). They were briefed on CyberSecurity Malaysia’s services and achievements in 21-year of its establishment.

During the visit, the YB Minister and his delegation visited CyberSecurity Malaysia laboratories and at the end of the visit, YB Minister delivered a speech to all staff.

Job Attachment at Alliacom CERT, Paris, France

 

On 19 and 20 December 2018, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in Job Attachment At Alliacom CERT in Paris to learn cyber security latest technologies in order to enhance capabilities through the expertise and technology transfer.

The two-day program organized by Alliacom CERT is a collaborative program between CyberSecurity Malaysia and Alliacom CERT in CERT operations and Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI). It is a platform for specialist and technology transfer in the field of CERT and CTI to improve CERT operating system. Sharifah Roziah Mohd Kassim from Malaysia Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCERT) represented CyberSecurity Malaysia.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was exposed to CTI's theoretical and practical aspects practiced at Alliacom CERT and learned open source tools guidelines as analysis assistance in order to improve the methods of mitigating incidents through CTI.

International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (ICCSIT) 2018, Paris, France

 

On 21 to 23 December 2018, CyberSecurity Malaysia presented a paper at the International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology Conference 2018 in Paris, France.

The ICCSIT Annual conference is a platform for delegates from the academic, industrial, postgraduate students to present research papers. The results of the selected study will be published in the journal.

Sharifah Roziah Mohd Kassim, from Malaysia Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCERT), delivered a presentation titled "Measuring the Effectiveness of Phishing Detection Tool: Comparative Study on Pattern Matching and User Rating Techniques" which was also published in the Journal of Computers.

CyberSecurity Malaysia discussed with the University of Rabat, Morrocco for the publication of journals to be shared by both organizations. Additionally, College of Technological Studies, Kuwait planned to invite CyberSecurity Malaysia to present a paper at the College in April 2019.

Global ACE Scheme Board of Governance Meeting and Committee Workshop, Pullman Putrajaya

 

On December 18, 2018, CyberSecurity Malaysia hosted the Global ACE Scheme Board of Governance Meeting and Committee Workshop in Putrajaya.

This meeting was held to update on the implementation of Cyber Security Professional Certification Scheme. The meeting was chaired by CyberSecurity Malaysia Chief Executive Officer, Dato' Ts. Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab who was also the Chairman of the Board of Governance. This meeting were participated by various representatives from the Ministry of Communications & Multimedia (KKMM), government agencies, academic and industry representatives.

Through this meeting, the quality of the Global Accredited CyberSecurity Education Scheme or "Global ACE Scheme" can be enhanced in line with the goal at creating a world-class competent work force in cyber security and promoting the development of cyber security programs in the region.

Cybersecurity International Workshop, Tokyo, Japan

 

On 11 to 14 December 2018, CyberSecurity Malaysia attended the "Cybersecurity International Workshop" organized by National Center of Incident Readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity (NISC) in Tokyo,Japan.

This program is a platform to share information on cross sectoral threats as well as to learn from the experiences of other countries. Ruhama Mohammed Zain from the Cyber Security Professional Development Department (CSPD) represented CyberSecurity Malaysia at this workshop.

CyberSecurity Malaysia presented the Global ACE Scheme as a human capital development initiative in cyber security during the workshop.
