JANUARY

On 25 January 2022, CyberSecurity Malaysia, EclectiqIQ and Syntx Sdn. Bhd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) virtually.

This technical collaboration between the three parties aim to develop Malaysia Information Sharing Analysis Center platform to channel technical information on cyber threats to organisations under the Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) in Malaysia.

Dato’ Ts. Dr. Haji Amiruddin Abdul Wahab FASc, Chief Executive Officer and Dr. Ts. Aswami Fadillah Bin Mohd Ariffin, Senior Vice President represented CyberSecurity Malaysia, while Joep Gommers, Founder and Chief Executive Officer represented EclectiqIQ and Fadzril Azhar Md Fatin, Chief Executive Officer represented Syntx Sdn. Bhd.

Through this MoU, CyberSecurity Malaysia is able to develop Cyber Threat intelligence technical capabilities to address cyber threats in line with Malaysian Cyber Security Strategic Plan (MCSS) to increase the ability to address cyber security issues effectively.

On 25 January 2022, CyberSecurity Malaysia welcomed a visit from Sabah State Government Agency led by the Sabah Creative Economy & Innovation Center (SCENIC).

This visit explores potential for strategic cooperation and collaboration with local cyber security industry and other government entities in promoting the development and innovation of Malaysian cyber security products and services.

Dato’ Ts. Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab FASc, Chief Executive Officer led CyberSecurity Malaysia and welcomed the delegation from seven Agencies headed by Mrs. Viviantie Sarjuni, General Manager, Sabah Creative Economy & Innovation Center (SCENIC).

Through this visit, CyberSecurity Malaysia expand cooperation opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Sabah as well as support Cyber Security Empowerment Incentive Program (PGPKS).

FEBRUARY

On 1 February 2022, CyberSecurity Malaysia appointed Mr. Roshdi Ahmad as the new Chief Operating Officer to replace Ts. Dr Zahri Yunos who retired from service. The appointment was made based on the decision of the Board of Directors on 16 December 2021.

Mr. Roshdi joined CyberSecurity Malaysia in November 2007 and has more than 30 years of experience working with large companies such as Malaysia Airlines, Malaysia Resources Corporation Berhad and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation.

He holds a Master of Science in Information Management and a Bachelor's Degree (Hons) in Business Studies (Marketing) from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and a Diploma in Agribusiness from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Prior to his appointment as Chief Operating Officer, he was Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy & Industry Affairs Division, CyberSecurity Malaysia.

On 11 February 2022, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in Cyber Security Seminar organised by Faculty of Science & Information, Albukhary International University (AIU)  at Albukhary International University, Alor Star, Kedah to expose students to the field of cyber security.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Ts. Dr. Solahuddin Shamsuddin, Chief Technology Officer. He delivered a presentation at this seminar attended by 40 students from the faculty.

Through this seminar, CyberSecurity Malaysia successfully provide new knowledge on cyber security to the students of Albukhary International University and at the same time strengthen cooperation with Institutions of Higher Learning in Malaysia.

On 15 February 2022, Malaysian Malay Chamber of Commerce (DPMM) visited CyberSecurity Malaysia to explore cooperation opportunities and strategic collaboration to promote cyber security products and services, development and innovation as well as Cyber Security Empowerment Incentive Program (PGPKS) to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab FASc, Chief Executive Officer welcome DPMM delegation led by Tuan Norsyahrin Hamidon, President of Malaysian Malay Chamber of Commerce Putrajaya.

Through this visit, CyberSecurity Malaysia expand collaboration opportunities with Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Sabah and supporting Cyber Security Empowerment Incentive Program (PGPKS).

On 17 February 2022, CyberSecurity Malaysia and TATI University College (UC TATI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at TATI University College Campus, Chukai, Terengganu.

This collaboration highlights assistance and support in the form of materials and content related to cyber security, placement of UC TATI students and researchers for industrial training, exchange of experience, skills and expertise to UC TATI staff and identify UC TATI potential to be identified as a Training Center for Global ACE Examination.

YBhg. Dato ’Ts. Dr. Haji Amiruddin Abdul Wahab FASc, Chief Executive Officer led CyberSecurity Malaysia delegates accompanied by Mohd Shamil bin Mohd Yusoff, Head of Outreach & Corporate Communications Department. UC TATI was represented by YBhg. Prof. Dr. Anuar Ahmad, Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Computer Media and Technology Management (FKMPT), Dr. Akhyari bin Nasir, Head of UC TATI Postgraduate Program and Ts. Dr. Noor Suhana bint Sulaiman.

This MoU comprehended  CyberSecurity Malaysia opportunity to introduce Global ACE Scheme towards the education sector which is UC TATI as well as support government initiatives in empowering knowledge workers in the field of ICT.

On 22 February 2022 CyberSecurity Malaysia organised a forum entitled "Kita Siber - Dunia Digital Murid-Murid Sekolah Sehingga Kini” in conjunction with Safer Internet Day 2022 - Malaysia Edition in Putrajaya.

Over 300 participants from various Institutions of Higher Learning, youth organisations and government agencies participated in the seminar officiated by YB Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima TPr Annuar Bin Haji Musa, Minister of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia (MenKOMM).

Five panels representing the Ministry of Education Malaysia, industry, parents, academia and teachers participated in this forum.

Through this event, CyberSecurity Malaysia successfully raise awareness on the importance cyber security in schools especially among educators, families, and students.

On 25 February 2022, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in CyberSec OpsAsia Virtual Conference 2022 organised by Escom Events.

This is a platform to identify direction towards a robust and resilient IT security framework when the pandemic undergo irreversible changes and move permanently to new methods to ensure economic stability.

Ts. Dr. Solahuddin Shamsuddin, Chief Technology Officer, represented CyberSecurity Malaysia and delivered a presentation entitled "Optimizing Cyber Security with Zero Trust Approach".

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this virtual seminar impacts positively on the information security industry leveraging cooperative relationship between CyberSecurity Malaysia and the industries.

On 14 - 16 March 2022 CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in an international conference World Police Summit for law enforcement and professionals at Dubai Expo 2020, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

This summit is a platform to discuss issues and methods to shape future of enforcement agencies. The conference was attended by enforcement agencies from 50 different countries.

Dato’ Ts. Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab FASc, Chief Executive Officer and Sarah Khadijah Taylor, Digital Forensics Manager represented CyberSecurity Malaysia at this conference. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Haji Amirudin became a panelist at the forum entitled “Cross-border partnerships to defend the cyberspace: Mitigating next-generation cybercrime through technology and intelligence”.

Through participation in this conference, CyberSecurity Malaysia highlight its expertise in cybersecurity, gained international recognition as well as strengthen cooperation between enforcement agencies, technical agencies and the industry.

On 17 March 2022 CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the INTERPOL Young Global Police Leaders Program (YGPL) at Dubai Expo 2020, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Organised by INTERPOL, this program was attended by investigating officers from 36 countries aims to develop police skills and competencies among enforcement agencies to meet future technological challenges.

Dato’ Ts. Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab FASc, Chief Executive Officer and Sarah Khadijah Taylor, Digital Forensics Manager represented CyberSecurity Malaysia. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Haji Amirudin became a panelist at the forum entitled “Speed challenges on cyber and the Future of Policing”.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this program is a recognition of the agency's capabilities internationally, as well as an opportunity to form cooperation between enforcement agencies, technical and industry players in effort to combat the increasingly complex cybercrime.

On 17 March 2022, CyberSecurity Malaysia organised a webinar entitled KITA SIBER Serumpun: “Keterbukaan Dunia Siber, Tiada Lagi Rahsia” via YouTube Live.

The forum was organised in conjunction with Safer Internet Day (SID) 2022 - Malaysia Edition in cooperation with the Indonesian National Cyber ​​and Password Agency (BSSN), Cyber ​​Security Brunei (CSB) and the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA).

Over 10,000 online viewers from participating countries viewed the webinar which aims to exchange information on current cyber security advancements as well as various approaches set by the regional countries against cyber threats.

Lt Col Mustaffa bin Ahmad (Retired) C/CISO, Senior Vice President, Outreach & Capacity Building Division became a panelist together with other representatives from the Indonesian National Cyber ​​and Password Agency (BSSN), Cyber ​​Security Brunei (CSB) and Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA).

YBhg. Dato' Ustaz Kazim Elias Al Hafiz made a special appearance at the webinar and discussed the topic of cyber openness from religious point of view.

This forum participated by three regional countries is a starting point to expand cyber security awareness programs among the other ASEAN member countries.

On 21 - 23 March 2022 CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in Gulf Information Security (GISEC) 2022 Conference and Expo at Dubai World Trade Center, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) organised by Cyber ​​Security Council UAE.

This is a platform to promote and launch 5G security Framework among OIC-CERT member countries from Gulf countries. The event was attended by 10,000 professionals, from cyber security and information technology field across the globe.

Mohd Shamir Hashim, Senior Vice President, International Relations Division represented CyberSecurity Malaysia and delivered a keynote address on Telecom Cybersecurity track entitled “OIC 5G Security Framework: Building a Coordinated Effort to Harness Deep Tech for Digital Transformation”.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this program expand opportunities to strengthen cooperative relations with OIC-CERT member countries and enhance cyber security ecosystem internationally.

On 23 March 2022, CyberSecurity Malaysia organised Cyber Security Dialogue with industry players at the Royale Chulan Hotel Kuala Lumpur, an initiative under the Cyber Security Collaboration Program (CCP).

YABhg. General Tan Sri Dato' Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi bin Mohamed (Retired), Chairman, Board of Directors, CyberSecurity Malaysia delivered a keynote address at this program, attended by 30 industry partners to discuss cyber security issues during COVID-19 pandemic and identify the direction of the CSM-ACE 2022 annual conference.

This dialogue symbolizes CyberSecurity Malaysia's determination in sustaining cyber security with the industry players through continuous cooperation to further strengthen cyber security ecosystem internationally.

On 23 March 2022, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in Cyber-Security for Smart City webinar organised by the Malaysia Smart Cities Alliance Association (MSCA) and the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MiGHT) via Webex.

This webinar aims to provide an overview of cyber security infrastructure for smart city development as well as effective solutions to ensure cyber security and user privacy in smart cities.

Dato' Ts. Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab FASc, Chief Executive Officer, Mohamad Anwer Mohamed Yusoff, Head of  Industrial Relations and CyberSecurity Cooperation Department and Norhamadi Ja’afar, Senior Executive of MyVAC represented CyberSecurity Malaysia in this webinar. Norhamadi Ja’afar’s delivered a presentation entitled “Cyber-Security for Smart Cities”.

In this webinar, CyberSecurity Malaysia  introduced services and products related to the development of smart cities and provide cybersecurity awareness in support of the country's efforts to address cybersecurity issues.

On 28 to 30 March 2022 CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in Egypt Edition Cybersecurity Innovation Series (CSIS) Conference in Cairo, Egypt organised by Market Solutions Events Management.

This is a platform to discuss cybersecurity and information technology initiatives. The event was attended by 100 participants from North African countries.

Mohd Shamir Hashim, Senior Vice President, International Relations Division and Noraini Abdul Rahman, Head of International Relations Department represented CyberSecurity Malaysia. Mohd Shamir delivered a keynote address entitled "Integrating a Vigorous Framework in Place to Support the Shift Towards Digital Economy".

In this program, CyberSecurity Malaysia highlight its expertise and expand network between Malaysia and other countries to further strengthen cyber security ecosystem internationally.
