Message from the CEO

I am delighted to present to you the second edition of CyberNEWS for Qtr 2, 2015.

Throughout the second quarter of 2015, CyberSecurity Malaysia was engaged and actively involved in organizing and participating in various activities, events or programs related to cyber security, whether locally or internationally.

CyberSAFE, the ‘cyber security for everyone’ program continued to meet the demands and invitations from outsiders who require CyberSecurity Malaysia to share information and knowledge on the importance of cyber security, including emerging cyber security threats. In the second quarter, there were more than 20 invitations for cyber security awareness program that has been filled by CyberSecurity Malaysia.

More Invitation to attend our CyberSAFE program or cyber security awareness program shows that more and more organizations are realizing the importance of cyber security. Accordingly, the number of cyber security incidents reported to the Help Center Cyber999 has increased by 44.5% for the first six months of 2015 compared to 4,117 incidents within the same period last year (2014)

An increasing number of cyber security incidents are due to several factors such as the increase in the number of of Internet users in Malaysia, the attitude of Internet users who do not give priority to cyber security issues and the lack of knowledge about cyber security. Hence, various efforts and initiatives undertaken by CyberSecurity Malaysia by offering services and products that feature innovative cyber security ssuch as CyberDEF, organizing workshops and seminars as well as attending skills training program to improve the efficiency of staff CyberSecurity Malaysia in handling issues or matters relating to cyber security. The CyberNEWS second edition features a variety of programs and activities involving CyberSecurity Malaysia.

It is hoped that with the active participation of CyberSecurity Malaysia in various events and programs, it can improve the quality of services and thus can carry out the mandates given, icuding the need promote cyber security industry in Malaysia.
