MA-1158.102024: MyCERT Advisory - Critical Vulnerability in FreeBSD


1.0 Introduction
Recently, The FreeBSD Project has released a security update to address a critical vulnerability ( CVE-2024-4172 ) affecting multiple versions of its operating system.

2.0 Impact
This vulnerability could lead an attacker an arbitrary write and remote code execution.

3.0 Affected Products

  • All supported versions of FreeBSD


4.0 Recommendations
CyberSecurity Malaysia encourages users and administrators to review the FreeBSD release and apply the necessary updates.
