CEO’s Message
CyberNEWS or Cyber Networking and Engagement With Stakeholders is the first electronic bulletin by CyberSecurity Malaysia. This bulletin is targeted at Malaysian Digital Community with an objective to share information and highlight programs and activities organized and/or participated by CyberSecurity Malaysia throughout the year 2013.
In the first quarter of 2013, CyberSecurity Malaysia had carried out several activities that contributed towards increasing knowledge and skills in the area of cyber security to enhance the levels of understanding amongst local ICT professionals. This is in line with CyberSecurity Malaysia’s vision of becoming “Globally Recognized National Cyber Security Reference and Specialist Centre by the year 2020”. |

Among the primary activities that were carried out during the first quarter of 2013 includes Cyber Intelligence Asia 2013 Conference organised by Intelligence-Sec Limited, United Kingdom. With the support from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation Malaysia (MOSTI), CyberSecurity Malaysia played an active role in this conference including as the chairperson for the conference and presented papers as speaker.
In addition to that, CyberSecurity Malaysia was once again selected as the Steering Committee for Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT): www.apcert.org during the Annual APCERT Conference that was held in Brisbane, Australia from 24th to 27th March 2013. Being selected as the Steering Committee is an acknowledgement and recognition of CyberSecurity Malaysia’s expertise in the field of cyber security which inevitably enhances Nation’s reputation in the global arena.
Various efforts, initiatives and programs have been carried out since the inception of CyberSecurity Malaysia. These efforts were essential to support the strategic direction of CyberSecurity Malaysia that has stepped into the 10th Malaysia Plan phase. This is a more challenging phase with the goal to “Spearhead National Cyber Security Through Resiliency And Self-Reliance”. This phase will highlight the stronger cooperation between government, industry and the community in addressing cyber security related issues that require concerted effort from all parties.
The implementation of various programs throughout 2013 is expected to benefit everyone. The learning achieved through these programs is expected to be shared and applied by parties/individuals involved at their respective organizations.
