Recognising this importance, beginning this second quarter, CyberSecurity Malaysia continuously intensified its effort with several strategic visits to various agencies such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, Bank Negara Malaysia and MIMOS Berhad. This strategic initiative has enabled CyberSecurity Malaysia to function more efficiently and effectively within the context of cyber security eco-system of the Nation.
Under its community outreach efforts, CyberSecurity Malaysia had taken proactive and innovative approach. CyberSecurity Malaysia organised various programs that focused on education and ethical Internet usage practices acculturation especially among students and local communities. Programs organised include Cyber Security Poster and Video Design Competition. The competition was carried out via social media platform Facebook over four months period from December 2012 to March 2013. The winners were rewarded during the prize giving ceremony held on 6th June 2013. The competition received encouraging reception with participants from all over the Nation showcased their creativity in producing cyber security posters and videos in accordance to the set theme.
Realising the importance of human asset to this agency, CyberSecurity Malaysia organised a staff retreat for a teambuilding program on 14th and 15th June 2013 at Institute Budaya Baru Malaysia at Kemensah. This program was especially organised to instill the spirit of teamwork and strengthen the relationship amongst the staff members of CyberSecurity Malaysia in order to create an effective work environment and increased productivity.
CyberSecurity Malaysia continuously encourages its staff members to obtain certification in various fields of cyber security. This effort is important to ensure CyberSecurity Malaysia personnel possess sufficient knowledge to address the cyber threats. This effort was extended in this second quarter with 32 personnel obtaining professional certification in their respective fields of expertise.
In the meantime, CyberSecurity Malaysia has been invited to give cyber security presentations during conferences, seminars and meetings that were held both in Malaysia and overseas. A total of 19 presentations were delivered by CyberSecurity Malaysia personnel including at six international events.

- Cyber Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) National Responsibility Meeting at Bangkok, Thailand on 22 June 2013 by Dr. Solahuddin Shamsuddin on the topic: “Enhancing Cyber Space Security Through National Policy, Governance and Best Practice”;
- Business Continuity Planning & Crisis Management for Financial Institutions in Singapore on 13 June 2013 by Maslina Daud on the topic: “A Focus On Mitigation And Management of Cyber Threats”;
- The 12th IISS Asia Security Summit The Shangri-La Dialogue 2013 on 1 June 2013 in Singapore by Sazali Sukardi on the topic: “Cyber Dimension”;
- Cyber Secure Pakistan 2013 on 18 - 20 April 2013 at Islamabad, Pakistan by Zahri Yunos on the topic: “Malaysia’s National Cyber Security Policy - An Integrated Approach For Cyber Security And Critical National Information Infrastructure Protection”;
- Cards and Payments Asia 2013 Conference on 24 April 2013 in Singapore by Syahrir Mat Ali on the topic: “The Role of Enterprise in Ensuring Cyber Security - The Malaysian Experience"; and
- FIRST Technical Colloquium (TC) on 3 April 2013 in Amsterdam by Sharifah Roziah Mohd Kassim on the topic: “In-house Developed Tools to Enhance Incident Response - Sharing MyCERT's Experience”.
It is hoped the programs implemented throughout the second quarter of the year 2013 achieved its objectives in alignment with our aim to build a conducive cyber environment
