We also continued to receive a number of visits. For the second quarter of 2014, we received two foreign visits and 10 local ones, including the maiden visit by the Deputy Secretary General (Science), Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, YBrs. Dr. Zulkifli Mohamed Hashim, who visited us to learn more about the function and role of CyberSecurity Malaysia, as well as to observe our laboratory facilities.
The second quarter also witnessed the launching of the first outlet of MyCyberSecurity Clinic (MyCSC) and Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP).
MyCSC’s opening ceremony was solemnized by the Hon. Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Dr. Ewon Ebin. MyCSC is a new initiative of CyberSecurity Malaysia in the provision of cyber security services to the Internet users in Malaysia. MyCSC Outlet will become a touch point for people to access digital forensics services or to make a face-to-face report/complaints after going through a cyber security incident. Meanwhile, the Entrepreneurship Development Program is expected to provide opportunities to create new entrepreneurs in the field of science and technology, particularly in the ICT sector and at the same time providing employment opportunities for Malaysians nationwide.
In an effort to disseminate information on the importance of cyber security and make it as a part of society’s culture, various forms of cooperation have already been implemented by CyberSecurity Malaysia. One of the greatest collaboration is with the Girl Guides Association of Malaysia (PPM). Through the CyberSAFE Ambassador Program implemented with PPM, CyberSecurity Malaysia has successfully trained 207 Girl Guides from all over Malaysia to become CyberSAFE Ambassadors, who are qualified to provide basic education on cyber safety and to help us promote cyber security awareness among their members and acquintances. Recently, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the Girl Guides National Carnival 2014 held at Putrajaya and officiated by YABhg. Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of the Prime Minister of Malaysia. It generated so much interest and publicity on our CyberSAFE program and of the importance of cyber security. I must say, we achieved a lot in terms of outreach, where the message of cyber security was heard by so many people. Thus, we consider it as a very important event throughout our collaboration with the PPM.
During the second quarter, we also supported a number of organization in organizing cyber security events in Malaysia; such as the Defense Services Asia (DSA) 2014. I hope you enjoy reading the full report on those events on our CyberNEWS Q2 2014.
We shall continue to strengthen the cyber security in Malaysia, so that we can all remain connected online with peace of mind.
Before I sign-off, I just want to remind the readers that the cyber world is not only for email, social networking, YouTube or search engines. The Internet or the cyber world is an enabler of economic prosperity, social harmony and general wellbeing.
And cyber security allows us to use the Internet without fear. So now we can use the Internet for our mutual benefit and happiness.
Thank you.
