Cybersecurity Awareness and Knowledge Systemic High-level Application (YAKSHA), Porto, Portugal

 

On 8 to 12 January 2018, CyberSecurity Malaysia attended Cybersecurity Awareness and Knowledge Systemic High-level Application (YAKSHA) in Porto, Portugal.

The conference was hosted by Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação (SPI) Portugal in partnership with 12 European and Southeast Asian organizations. It was funded by the European Commission and aims to strengthen EU-ASEAN cooperation and development of cyber security domain and platform applications tailored to the needs of consumers and countries, especially in leveraging EU expertise Know-How and local expertise.

The conference was attended by the Ambassador of ASEAN Countries, representatives from the European Commission, panelists and representatives from partner organizations discussing Cyber Security Research in the EU-ASEAN.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Ismamuradi bin Dato' Abdul Kadir from the Strategic Management Department. He was invited as a representative in strengthening multilateral engagement and contributing to the project outcome through the Co-Creation Workshop. At the workshop, all partners and project consortiums agreed to attend CSM-ACE 2018 to be held in September.

This invitation to CyberSecurity Malaysia is an international recognition as an expert organization in cyber security affairs in Southeast Asia.

International Bhurban Conference On Applied Sciences & Technology (IBCAST) 2018, Islamabad, Pakistan

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia has attended the International Bhurban Conference on Applied Sciences & Technology (IBCAST) 2018 conference in Islamabad, Pakistan from 9 to 13 January 2018.

The conference organized by Centers of Excellence in Science & Applied Technologies (CESAT) themed "Cyber Security & Assurance Technologies", is a technical research conference to discuss current issues in science and technology, including cyber security.

A total of 1,200 participants from various countries including Malaysia attended the conference. CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Dr Zahri Yunos, the Chief Operating Officer who delivered a presentation titled “People Certification: The Need for Cyber Security Experts”. Meanwhile, Dr Aswami Fadillah Mohd Ariffin and Nur Mohammad Kamil were invited as instructors at the technical workshop "Incident Handling and Management: Tools, Techniques, Responses and Procedures."

At this conference, CyberSecurity Malaysia had the opportunity to promote Malaysia as a proactive country that supports cyber security initiatives globally. Additionally, it also provides the opportunity to keep abreast of current technological know-how especially in the areas of cyber security as well as deepening cooperation with various agencies internationally in addressing cyber security issues.

Signing Ceremony of Memorandum of Collaboration between CyberSecurity Malaysia and University Malaysia of Computer Science and Engineering (UNIMy), Putrajaya

 

On January 18, 2018, a Memorandum of Agreement was signed between CyberSecurity Malaysia and University Malaysia of Computer Science and Engineering (UNIMY) in Putrajaya.

The partnership is aimed at strengthening, promoting and enhancing cooperation between the two organizations in cybersecurity development, research and education in Malaysia.

The memorandum was signed by YBhg. Dato' Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia and YBhg. Prof. Datuk Dr. Khairuddin Ab Hamid, UNIMy Vice Chancellor.

Through this collaboration CyberSecurity Malaysia will act as an industry advisory panel to UNIMy, implementing academic-industry programs that benefit both parties, sharing information with UNIMy on current trends, issues and technologies and contributing to the improvement of academic modules and curriculum of study related cyber security at UNIMy.

CyberSecurity Malaysia Staff Assembly, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur

 

On January 19, 2018, the first CyberSecurity Malaysia Staff Assembly was held for 2018. This program is one of the activities under the employee relations initiative conducted by the Human Capital Development Department.

The gathering was also held to strengthen the relationship between CyberSecurity Malaysia's staff. It was a platform to inform the organization's direction for 2018 and provide updates on CyberSecurity Malaysia’s development.

A total of 232 CyberSecurity Malaysia staff attended the gathering officiated by YBhg. Dato' Dr. Haji Amirudin bin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer.

The Chief Executive Officer delivered his mandate and also presented several awards to the staff. There are Long Service Award, Professional Certification Award and Academic Achievement Award.

The 10th International Cybersecurity Forum (FIC), France

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended the 10th International Cybersecurity Forum (FIC) organized by Gendarmerie Nationale, CEIS & Euratechnoloogies in Lille and Paris, France. FIC 2018 is a program under the patronage of President of the Republic of France and it is Europe's largest cyber security event which includes panel discussions, forums, workshops and exhibitions.

CyberSecurity Malaysia has been invited to present a case study. Dr Zahri Yunos, Chief Operating Officer delivered a presentation entitled "CTI: What is the Real Added Value" while Dr. Aswami Fadillah Mohd Ariffin, Senior Vice President, Cyber Security Reaction Service delivered a presentation titled "CTI: How Do We Make it Operational". Malaysia is the only country in ASEAN region and among the selected members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) invited to be a speaker at the FIC 2018.

A total of 8,600 participants, 300 presenters and 350 exhibitors from various public and private sectors attended the three-day conference.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's representatives also held technical discussions with several organizations, including Thales, Textplained, Cyber Test Systems and Alliacom to identify collaboration opportunities in cyber security.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this conference is an international recognition of its expertise, skills and capabilities in cybersecurity globally.

MTDC Expert Talk Program 2018, Serdang, Selangor

 

Malaysian Technology Development Corporation Sdn. Bhd (MTDC) invited CyberSecurity Malaysia to deliver a talk on cybersecurity and cyber attacks in Malaysia to its staff at the MTDC Expert Talk Program 2018 Serdang, Selangor.

It was attended by 80 MTDC employees and it aims to foster awareness of cyber security.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Megat Muazzam Abdul Mutalib from the Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCERT). He delivered cyber security talk on cyber threats in Malaysia.

CyberSecurity Malaysia managed to introduce its functions and services as well as shared information on current cyber security issues.

Workshop on Rules and Regulation of National ICT Security Discourse (NICTSeD) 2018 - CyberSAFE Challenge Trophy, Putrajaya

 

On 26 to 28 January 2018, Rules and Regulations workshop of the National ICT Security Discourse (NICTSeD) 2018 - CyberSAFE Challenge Trophy was held in Putrajaya.

NICTSeD is one of CyberSecurity Malaysia's annual events under the CyberSAFE in School Program which is held in collaboration with the Education Technology Division (BTP), Ministry of Education Malaysia in line with the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS).

This discourse demonstrates the ability of high school students throughout Malaysia in presenting a proposal on cyber security issues using various multimedia tools.

In this workshop, the rules and regulations of the competition were reviewed for improvement. In addition, the participants identified several titles for this year’s discourse.

A total of 16 schools representing 16 zones across Malaysia will compete in this discourse. The qualifying, final and semifinal will be held at Kelantan State Education Technology Division. Meanwhile, the finals, will be held in September 2018 in conjunction with Cyber Security Malaysia - Awards, Conference, and Exhibition 2018 (CSM-ACE 2018).

The HORIZON 2020 (H2020) Information & Training Event, Kuala Lumpur

 

On January 29, 2018, CyberSecurity Malaysia was invited to present a paper at the HORIZON 2020 (H2020) Information & Training program organized by the European Commission in Kuala Lumpur.

HORIZON 2020 (H2020) is the largest EU research and innovation program and is one of the 2020 European initiatives to drive economic growth and create job opportunities.

In this program, CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Dr Zahri Yunos, Chief Operating Officer. He delivered a presentation entitled "Cybersecurity Awareness and Knowledge Systemic High-Level Application (YAKSHA)." A total of 100 participants comprising of representatives from institutions of higher learning in Malaysia attended this program.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in this program has further strengthened its position as a center of cyber security technical expert in Malaysia as well as recognition of its skills and capabilities in cyber security.
