Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony between CyberSecurity Malaysia and Malaysia Board of Technologist (MBOT)

 

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between CyberSecurity Malaysia and Malaysia Board of Technologist (MBOT) was held on 1 June 2018 in Putrajaya.

With this MoU, both organizations agree to collaborate in strengthening the field of cyber security under the technology industry. CyberSecurity Malaysia will lead the cybersecurity field as Technical Expert Panel (TEP) and its technical staff will be recognized as cyber security professionals under the Act 768 - Technologist and Technicians Act 2015.

The signing of the MoU was concluded by Tan Sri Ir (Dr) Ts Ahmad Zaidee Laidin, Chairman of MBOT while CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Dato' Dr. Hj Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer.

This cooperation will continue to strengthen the capacity building sector, particularly in establishing cyber security experts in Malaysia.

"Kembara Amal CyberSAFE" with Bait Al Amin's Children, Parit, Perak Darul Ridzuan In Conjunction With ‘Program Pembudayaan Keselamatan Siber Dalam Kalangan Warga Digital: Cybersafe@Ipoh 2018', Ipoh, Perak

 

On June 2, 2018, Kembara Amal CyberSAFE with orphans from Bait Al Amin Orphanage House was held in Ipoh, Perak.

This program is a platform for CyberSecurity Malaysia to share information and provide exposure to Bait Al-Amin's children, parents and guardians on cyber security ethics while nurturing the importance of cyber security in everyday life.

A total of 89 orphans with guardians and management of Bait Al Amin House and students of Petronas University of Malaysia participated in the program.

CyberSecurity Malaysia in collaboration with Petronas Malaysia University has inculcated cyber security knowledge to these teens.

10th International IT-Forum (IT-Forum) and the 2nd International Conference on Information Security Conference (Infoforum-Ugra), Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Ugra, Russia

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia was invited to attend the 10th International IT-Forum (IT-Forum) and the 2nd International Conference on Information Security Conference (Infoforum-Ugra) at Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Ugra, Russia on 5 and 6 July 2018.

This IT-Forum organized over 10 years includes the Infoforum-Ugra and was recognized by ICT security professionals from both public and private sectors globally.

General Tan Sri Dato' Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi Mohamad (Retired), Chairman of the Board of Directors, CyberSecurity Malaysia was invited to deliver the keynote entitled "Cyber Diplomacy And Multilateral Cooperation" meanwhile Dr. Zahri Yunos, Chief Operating Officer became a panel at a roundtable discussion entitled "Addressing Cyber Terrorism Threats".

During the conference, CyberSecurity Malaysia's Chairman was conferred Russian Government's Professional Award for Development of Professional Relations in Information Security. This is an international recognition for CyberSecurity Malaysia and Tan Sri Chairman in particular.

CyberSecurity Malaysia has further strengthened its position as a technical agency in cyber security internationally.

30th FIRST 2018 Conference, Kuala Lumpur

 

On 24 to 29 June 2018, an international conference for the global response and security team, FIRST 2018, took place in Kuala Lumpur.

FIRST has membership of 360 teams of computer reactions and security from more than 80 countries comprising government agencies, academics, commercial companies and finance companies. FIRST is a frontline patron in the global response community, providing access to best practices, reliable equipment and communications.

The 30th FIRST conference is the first ever conference in Malaysia and attended by more than 800 participants from around the world. It is the highest record of attendance to the conference since its inception.

At this conference, CyberSecurity Malaysia delivered two presentations entitled "Practical Integration of Threat Intelligence and CSIRT Processes to Accelerate Efficiency and Timely Response of Incidents: Malaysia CERT Case Study" by Sharifah Roziah Mohd Kassim and Syazwan Hafizzudin Shuhaimi and "Collaborative National-level Incident Response Model to Address Large-Scale Data Breach Attack in Malaysia" by Farah Ramlee, Kilausuria Abdullah and Sharifah Roziah Mohd Kassim from Malaysia Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCERT).

CyberSecurity Malaysia as a local-host had a huge impact as it is a recognition by an international forum on CyberSecurity Malaysia's capabilities and expertise. Additionally, it also provides CyberSecurity Malaysia an opportunity to network and build collaboration with various parties at this conference.

3rd Digital Forensics Expert Group (Interpol) Conference, Heathrow, United Kingdom

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia was invited to attend third conference of digital forensic experts or the 3rd Digital Forensics Expert Group (INTERPOL) Conference in the United Kingdom from 27 to 29 June 2018.

This annual conference organized by INTERPOL together with the National Police Chiefs' Council and Digital Forensics Portfolio Board was held as a platform to discuss and exchange views and experiences in the field of digital forensics to curb growing cyber crime activities worldwide. Discussions also include types of analysis on digital exhibitions and methods to specify reports and quality standards.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Tajul Josalmin Tajul Ariffin who presented "Website Reconstruction" in a digital forensic case and Sarah Khadijah Taylor who became a panel during the Forensics Laboratory Session "ISO17025 Accreditation: CyberSecurity Malaysia's Perspective".

CyberSecurity Malaysia's capabilities in the digital forensics field is well recognized and it is an important part to strengthen the landscape in Malaysia. In addition, it is also an ideal platform for CyberSecurity Malaysia to share experiences and expertise about Digital Forensics in the international arena.

17th European Conference on Cyber Warfare and Security (ECCWS 2018), Oslo, Norway

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia was invited to attend the 17th European Conference on Cyber ​​Warfare and Security (ECCWS) 2018 in Oslo, Norway.

The conference organized by Academic Conferences and Publishing International Limited and Telenor Group was held over 17 years ago and became the focus of academic scholars, military personnel, practitioners and individuals involved in various aspects of cyber security.

At the conference, Dr. Zahri Yunos, Chief Operating Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia delivered a presentation titled "Cyber ​​Force Establishment: Defense Strategy for Critical National Information Infrastructure against Cyber ​​Threats" . This paper was co-authored with Lt Col Mustaffa Ahmad (Retired), Senior Vice President, Outreach and Capacity Building Division and academic staff from the National Defense University of Malaysia (UPNM). The paper was accepted for presentation and will be published in ISIS Web Thomson Reuters (WOS) and Elsevier SCOPUS Image Index, which is the highest index and quality. A total of 130 participants from 30 countries throughout the world presented at ECCWS 2018.

While in Oslo, the delegation also conducted work visits and strategic discussion with Telenor ASA and the Norwegian National Security Authority - NorCERT. These create opportunities for collaborations in various areas related to cyber security.

Through this conference, CyberSecurity Malaysia further strengthened its position as a cyber security technical agency in Malaysia. It is a platform for international recognition to share expertise, knowledge and experience. The conference also opens networking opportunities with European cyber security researchers from various organizations as well as to understand latest research and innovation.
