ASEAN-Japan Cybersecurity Capacity Building Center Training (AJCCBC) Training, Bangkok, Thailand

 

On 9 to 13 September 2019 CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in Japan ASEAN Cybersecurity Capacity Building Center 's Training (AJCCBC) in Bangkok, Thailand organised by Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) Thailand.

This training covers Cyber Defense Exercise with Recurrence (CYDER) and Malware Analysis programme.

24 participants from 10 Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) involved in discussion, presentation and practical training to be applied into processes and procedures and to analyse and run real time cyber-attack incidents.

In this course, CyberSecurity Malaysia improved cyber incident management under Malaysia Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCERT) and mitigated the cyber-attack.

11th Asian Forensic Sciences Network (AFSN) Annual Meeting And Symposium, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

 

On 17 to 20 September 2019 CyberSecurity Malaysia attended 11th Asian Forensic Sciences Network (AFSN) Annual Meeting and Symposium, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam organised by the Forensic Medicine Center of Ho Chi Minh City.

It is a platform for forensic scientists to share knowledge and discuss problem-related to forensic field participated by ASEAN countries like Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Brunei, Indonesia and Vietnam.

Ts. Dr Aswami Fadillah Mohd Ariffin, Kanan Vice President, Bahagian CyberSecurity Responsive Service (CSRS) represented CyberSecurity Malaysia and delivered a presentation on "Malware Forensic Analytics System". Ts. Mohd Zabri Adil Bin Talib, Chief Digital Forensic Department, presented a case study: "Zeus Malware Targeting Malaysian Internet Banking User's Android ", Ts. Fauzi Mohd Darus, Digital Forensic Department presented: "Malware Classification Using Machine Learning on Image Pattern android", while Ts. Mohamad Firham Efendy Bin Md. Senan, Digital Forensic Department presented: "CamMuka: The R&D Journey of Biometric Facial Recognition System in Video Forensics Analysis".

In this symposium, CyberSecurity Malaysia strengthened network of cooperation between Malaysian digital forensic expertise with other Asian Forensic Sciences Network members.

Certified Cyber Defender Associate” Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) Technical Training, Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia (MOFA) organized the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program (MTCP) from 17 to 26 September 2019 in Kuala Lumpur. The program realized Malaysia's commitment to South-South Cooperation, particularly in technical cooperation among developing countries.

In 2019, CyberSecurity Malaysia once again participated in the technical training programs under MTCP. In this program, participants were exposed to cyber security, security management and cyber threat incidents framework implemented in the form of practicality as well as enhancing their capabilities in dealing with threats and cyber-crimes and thus qualifying them for Cyber Defender Associate certification.

The 10-day program was attended by 17 participants from 13 countries namely Azerbaijan, Brunei Darussalam, Philippines, Indonesia, Jordanian, Kazakhstan, Laos, Morocco, Egypt, Myanmar, Nigeria, Oman and Uzbekistan.

MTCP opening ceremony was officiated by CyberSecurity Malaysia Chief Executive Officer, Dato' Ts. Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab on 17 September 2019, while the closing ceremony was officiated by General Tan Sri Dato' Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi Bin Mohamed (Retired), Chairman Board of Directors, CyberSecurity Malaysia on 24 September 2019 in conjunction with Security Cyber Malaysia - Awards, Conference & Exhibition (CSM-ACE 2019).

In this program, CyberSecurity Malaysia further strengthened its position as the leading cyber security technical agency in the international arena.

Industrial Control System (ICS) Security Training, Cyberjaya Selangor

 

On 19 to 21 August 2019 CyberSecurity Malaysia organised Industrial Control System (ICS) Security Training at Cyberjaya, Selangor.

Malaysia Vulnerable Assessment Centre Department led the training that aim to foster Industrial Control System security awareness among industry activist and promote CyberSecurity Malaysia services.

13 participants from 8 agencies joined this exercise. Participants learned theoretical knowledge on industrial control system security and hands-on training on cyber-attack that affect industry control system.

Through these training programmes, CyberSecurity Malaysia successfully highlighted to the participants the importance of Industrial Control System Security and support the government's initiative to increase literate society in Industrial Control System Security.

Cyber Security Malaysia – Awards, Conference & Exhibition (CSM-ACE) 2019, Kuala Lumpur

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia organized the annual Cyber Security Malaysia - Awards, Conference & Exhibition (CSM-ACE) 2019 on 23 to 27 September 2019 at Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur.

The 11th CSM-ACE was Endorsed by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia and Chief Government Security Officer.

This public-private partnership program highlighted three (3) major components namely the Malaysian Cyber Security Awards, Conferences and Exhibitions. It is a platform for professionals and cyber security industry players to gather and exchange views on technology and cyber security issues. It is also an avenue for business networking and collaboration opportunities among local and foreign cyber security industry players.

CSM-ACE 2019 main components are:-

CSM-ACE 2019 Opening and Keynotes
CSM-ACE 2019 Opening Ceremony on September 25, 2018 was officiated by Mr.Tan  Chuan  Ou, Deputy  Secretary  General (Telecommunications Infrastructure and Digital Economy), Ministry of Communications  and  Multimedia  Malaysia. CyberSecurity Malaysia Chairman Board of Directors, General Tan Sri Dato' Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi Bin Mohamed (Retired) delivered the opening remarks. 500 participants from public and private sectors, institutions of higher learning and cyber security industry players attended the ceremony.

CSM-ACE 2019 Conference
CSM-ACE 2019 conference took place on September 23, 2019 involving two major tracks, namely Management and Technical. There were four panel discussion sessions based on CSM-ACE 2019 theme “#cyberdefence”. The conference was attended by 550 participants globally.

CSM-ACE 2019 Capacity Building Program

CSM-ACE 2019 provides 9 cyber security training programs. The training program started on September 23 to 27, 2019 and is designed specifically to enhance skills and competencies in the area of cyber security to produce knowledgeable workforce to address cyber threats. A total of 250 attendees attended the training program.

CSM-ACE Information Security Exhibition 2019

50 organizations participated in the Information Security Exhibition in conjunction with CSM-ACE 2019 to promote their products and services. At the exhibition hall, CyberSecurity Malaysia launched the Coordinated Malware Eradication and Remediation Platform (CMERP) which is a national assessment and certification scheme for local ICT products. This service was developed by the Department of Malaysia Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCERT) and Abyres Sdn Bhd.

Cyber Security Career Fair 2019
The event was held on 24 and 25 September 2019 to address unemployment issues among graduate. 1,000 job opportunities in Information and Communication Technology were offered at this career fair joined by 20 private organisations and 16 Institute of Higher Learning.

8 satellite events was held during ACE CSM 2019. There are Cyber Forensics Qolloqium, Pertandingan Akhir NICTSeD 2019, OIC CERT Academic Colloqium, Aviation Industry CIO Breakfast Roundtable Discussion, Cyber Security Maturity Assessment and Cybersecurity Awareness for Securities Commission Malaysia.

Cyber Forensics Colloqium, Kuala Lumpur

 

On 24 September 2019 CyberSecurity Malaysia organised Cyber Forensics Colloqium in Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur, led by Digital Forensic Department, CyberSecurity Malaysia.

It is a platform for Malaysia Digital Forensic Science institute to discuss and share information and digital forensic services.

63 participants joined the colloquium, which involved 3 panel sessions. The first session entitled "Fintech Development in Malaysia - Towards a Digital Economy", second "Application of Artificial Intelligence in Biometrics Forensics" and third "Malaysia Digital Forensics Science Network Periodical Meeting".

Through this colloquium, CyberSecurity Malaysia  increased Digital Forensic service quality through a partnership with expert's job group, research training and accreditation.

Grand Final Of National ICT Security Discourse – Cybersafe Challenge Trophy (NICTSeD ) 2019, Kuala Lumpur

 

The Grand Final of National ICT Security Discourse - CyberSAFE Challenge Trophy 2019 or NICTSeD 2019 was held on 25th September 2019. It is the annual ICT security discourse competition held in English by CyberSecurity Malaysia. NICTSeD 2019 is supported by the Ministry of Education (MOE) through the Education Technology and Resources Division (BSTP) and is opened to secondary school students across Malaysia.

The finals was held in conjunction with Cyber Security Malaysia - Awards, Conference & Exhibition (CSM-ACE) 2019 and was officiated by YB Tuan Haji Eddin Syazlee Shith, Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia.

This sixth NICTSeD is participated by 142 secondary schools from all over Malaysia. Two (2) schools emerged as finalists, namely Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sultan Abu Bakar, Kuantan Pahang dan Sekolah Tun Fatimah, Johor.

Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sultan Abu Bakar, Kuantan Pahang was crowned champion through an interesting arguments on the topic “Good Behaviour and Morality - Instilling Rukun Negara principles in Online Etiquette,”.

The champion won a cash prize of RM5,000, a CyberSAFE Challenge Cup as well as a certificate of participation. This discourse successfully polished students communication and research skills as well as the ability to address ICT security issues, which are important as they prepare for university.

NICTSeD 2019 is also supported by DiGi Telecommunications, and BAE Systems.

Cyber Security For Critical Assets (CS4CA) Summit 2019, Singapore

 

On 25 to 26 September 2019 CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in Cybersecurity Critical Asset Conference (CS4CA) 2019 in Singapore, organised by Global Qatalyst.

It is a platform to discuss cybersecurity issue, knowledge and expertise in digital technology modernisation initiative.

Wan Zulhamli Bin Wan Abdul Rahman, Head of Strategic Research and Advisories represent CyberSecurity Malaysia as moderator and deliberate on cybersecurity approach in digital technology modernisation initiative.

In this conference, CyberSecurity Malaysia shared views, and discuss on strategic cybersecurity approach in the data security aspect.

2nd Quarter Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement (CCRA) 2019 Meeting And International Common Criteria Conference (ICCC), Singapore

 

On 25 September to 2 October, 2019 CyberSecurity Malaysia attended 2nd quarter  Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement (CCRA) Meeting 2019, in Pan Pacific Hotel, Singapore, organised by Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA).

It is a platform to discuss on IT Security assessment , certificate issue, improvement and latest advancement.

Wan Shafiuddin Zainuddin, Head of Information Security Certification Body delivered a presentation entitled "MyCC Growth and Challenges" in International Common Criteria Conference (ICCC) session.

CyberSecurity Malaysia as the sole body for Malaysian Common Criteria Scheme (MyCC) discussed with Common Criteria community and indirectly contribute to Malaysian Common Criteria Scheme.

OIC-CERT Academic Colloqium 2019, Kuala Lumpur

 

On 26 September 2019 Organisation of Islamic Conference Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) Academic Colloquium 2019 was held in Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur organised by CyberSecurity Malaysia to encourage manuscript submission from industry, academia and cybersecurity practitioner towards essential cybersecurity and application.

27 people participant from 10 countries had participated in OIC-CERT Academic Colloqium . 6 speakers from 2 countries, namely Malaysia and Indonesia presenting working papers and share the idea on threat issues cyber that are latest. 

CyberSecurity Malaysia, represented by Farah Binti Ramlee and Izzatul Hazirah Binti Ishak analyst from Malaysia Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCERT), delivered a presentation entitled "Malware Discovery using Lebahnet Technology".

This Colloquium is CyberSecurity Malaysia initiative to support Organisation of Islamic Cooperation's strategic programme related to cybersecurity.

Malaysia Cyber Security Awards 2019, Kuala Lumpur

 

Malaysian Cyber Security Awards 2019 was organized on 26 September  in conjunction with Cyber Security Malaysia - Awards, Conference & Exhibition (CSM-ACE) 2019 from 24 to 28 September at Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur. The ceremony was officiated by General Tan Sri Dato's Sri Panglima Mohd Azumi bin Mohamed (Retired), Chairman Board of Directors, CyberSecurity Malaysia.

Malaysian Cyber Security Awards recognized the achievements of local information security professionals, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and global organizations that contributed towards the development of cyber security in Malaysian ICT dynamic landscape.

There are seven (7) categories of awards in 2019, namely:-

Annual General Meeting And Conference Of Computer Emergency Response Team Asia Pacific (APCERT), Singapore

 

On 29 September to 2 October, the Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT) Conference and Annual General Meeting 2019 was held in Grand Copthorne Waterfront, Singapore organised by Singapore Computer Emergency Response Team (SingCERT) from Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) with the theme "Fostering A Safer Cyberspace Through Partnership & Collaboration".

It is a platform for cybersecurity specialists globally to discuss and present working papers and share information and knowledge on cyber threat.

General Tan Sri Dato Sri Panglima Mohd Azumi bin Mohamed (Retired), Chairman Board of Directors, led CyberSecurity Malaysia delegate. Sharifuddin Bin Sulaman, from International Engagement, delivered a presentation entitled "Cross Border Collaboration Through OIC-CERT in Securing the Cyber Space."

In this programme, CyberSecurity Malaysia gained APCERT recognition and appointed as APCERT Chairman for the period 2019 - 2020. Malaysia also remained leader of APCERT Malware Mitigation Working Group.
