International Bhurban Conference On Applied Sciences & Technology (IBCAST) 2019, Islamabad, Pakistan

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended International Bhurban Conference on Applied Sciences & Technology (IBCAST) 2019 in Islamabad, Pakistan from 8 to 12 January 2019.

The conference was organised by Centres of Excellence in Science & Applied Technologies (CESAT) with the theme "Security Cyber & Technologies Assurance". It is a technical research platform to discuss latest issues in science and technology, including cyber security.

1,200 participants from various countries including Malaysia attended this conference. Ts. Dr Zahri Yunos, Chief Operating Officer CyberSecurity represented Malaysia and presented a proposal titled 'Cyber Threats Incident Response Model for CNII Organizations'. Meanwhile, Mohamed Fadzlee Sulaiman delivered a presentation titled 'Understanding Cyber Threat Intelligence'.

At this conference, CyberSecurity Malaysia promoted Malaysia as an active supporter in cyber security globally. CyberSecurity Malaysia also had a discussion on technical cooperation with Mr Iftikhar Aamir Chaudhary's Director General (Cyber Security), CESAT.

CSM-ACE 2019 Coordination Workshop, Selangor, Malaysia

 

On 17 January 2019 Cyber Security Malaysia - Awards, Conference & Exhibition (CSM-ACE) 2019 coordination workshop was held in Palace of Golden Horses Hotel, Seri Kembangan.

Cyber Security Industry Engagement and Collaboration Department organised this workshop to discuss and add value to CSM ACE 2019 implementation.

This workshop was attended by 23 participants from various departments to brainstorm and generate ideas to improve CSM ACE 2019 coordination.

3rd Pre-Phase New Cryptography Algorithm Assessment Workshop (AKBA) For National Cryptography Algorithm List (MySEAL), Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan

 

On 18 – 20 Jan 2019, the 3rd New Cryptography Algorithm For Trusted National Cryptography Algorithm list pre-evaluation workshop was held in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan

Cryptography Development Department of CyberSecurity Malaysia organised this workshop and it was attended by 30 participants from AKBA MySEAL, IPTA and IPTS expert evaluators and industry representative.

This workshop aimed to assess and present modified AKBA algorithm and finalise shortlisted algorithm for AKBA MySEAL 3rd Phase evaluation.

It is also a platform to announce the Chairman of AKBA MySEAL expert evaluator panel appointed for AKBA MySEAL 3rd Phase evaluation.

YAKSHA (Cybersecurity Awareness and Knowledge Systemic High-Level Application) Project Review Meeting and Workshop, Brussels, Belgium

 

On 18 to 21 January 2019, CyberSecurity Malaysia attended YAKSHA (Cybersecurity Awareness and Knowledge Systemic High-Level Application) Project Review Meeting and Workshop in Brussels, Belgium.

This Conference was organised by Teknologian Tutkimuskeskus VTT Oy (VTT) and Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação (SPI). 13 organisations from Europe and ASEAN participated in YAKSHA project consortium and CyberSecurity Malaysia represented the ASEAN region.

This conference aimed to review YAKSHA project development, plan its implementation, identify its effectiveness and identify resources to achieve the goal.

It was an international recognition for CyberSecurity Malaysia to participate in this workshop as an expert organisation in cyber security affairs for ASEAN region.

Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony between Malaysia CyberSecurity and Kedah Skills Industrial & Management Development Centre (KISMEC), Alor Star, Kedah

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia organized the OIC-CERT Cyber Security Journal Workshop on 6 and 7 October 2018 at Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan.

On 24 January 2019, CyberSecurity Malaysia and Kedah Skills Industrial & Management Development Centre (KISMEC) in Alor Star, Kedah signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

Chief Minister of Kedah YAB Dato' Seri Hj. Mukhriz Tun Mahathir, witnessed the ceremony in conjunction with 4.0 Industry Conference launching ceremony: Transformation Digitization - Opportunities and Challenges.

This MoU highlights cooperation for marketing and training programmes in cyber security field as well as awareness activities for KISMEC worker.

250 of government representative attended this ceremony. Among them were representatives from local authority, higher learning institution and the industry. This ceremony created opportunity for manufacturer and trader in digital era transformation.

Research presentation at The Third International Conference on Smart Trends for Information Technology and Computer Communications (SmartCom 2019) Bangkok, Thailand.

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended 3rd International Conference on Smart Trends for Information Technology and Computer Communications (SmartCom 2019) from 24 to 25 January 2019, in Bangkok, Thailand.

SmartCom conference 2019 was organised by Global Knowledge Research Foundation (GR Foundation), IFIP - International Young ICT Group and Nagpur NIT. It is held annually as a platform for delegates to share information on computer communication and effective strategy for Engineering and Management.

In this conference, Mohamad Nizam Kassim from Cyber Security Responsive Division delivered a presentation on text processing algorithms for Malay Language (Design Consideration of Malay Text Stemmer Using Structured Approach and Enhanced Text Stemmer with Noisy Text Normalization for Malay Texts).

CyberSecurity Malaysia introduced Malay Language text processing algorithm and it is accepted among analytic researcher community. ThreatScape (hackers profiling) analytic development project and Crimescape (Scam & Fraud Web Detection) utilised this algorithm.
