3rd International Conference on Information Security (INFOFORUM), Ugra, Rusia

 

On 10 to 12 June 2019, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in "The International Conference Information Security" (INFOFORUM) in Ugra, Russia.

INFOFORUM conference organised by the Government of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug is a platform for information exchange on information security application usage for public and to form interaction between Russia and regional countries to strengthen cooperation in digital economic field.

General Tan Sri Dato Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi bin Mohamed (Retired) Chairman of Board of Directors and Ts Dr Zahri Yunos, Chief Operation Officer represented CyberSecurity Malaysia. In the conference, YABhg Tan Sri Chairman delivered a keynote address on "International Cooperation in The Digital Era - Misperceptions Reduce, Trust Build", on the other hand, Ts Dr Zahri presented "Safeguarding Malaysia CNII Against Cyber Threats" in the round table discussion session.

This conference reinforce Malaysia’s reputation and recognise CyberSecurity Malaysia as a cybersecurity technical agency globally.

6th European Conference on Social Media, University of Brighton, United Kingdom

 

On 13 and 14 June 2019, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in "The European Conference on Social Media" at the University of Brighton, United Kingdom.

University of Brighton organized this conference for researchers and media social practitioners to share and present various approaches to conduct research and its impact on diverse social media discipline.

Nurul Husna Binti Mohamad Nor Hazalin from Secure Technology Services Department represented CyberSecurity Malaysia at this conference. She presented a research paper on "Terrorism Indoctrination via Social Media: A Malaysian Case Study".

This conference promotes CyberSecurity Malaysia and recognizes its specialist in cyber security field.

31st Annual First (Forum for Incident Response and Security Teams) Conference on Computer Security Incident Handling, Edinburgh, Scotland

 

On 16 to 22 June 2019 CyberSecurity Malaysia attended 31st Annual FIRST (Forum for Incident Response and Security Teams) Conference on Computer Security Incident Handling in Edinburgh, Scotland.

This conference organised by FIRST.org and CC / CERT (Carnegie Mellon University) is a platform for CSIRT / CERT participants and Internet security organisation to discuss cyber threat issues and threats mitigation. This year, the conference theme is "Defending the Castle".

Ts. Dr Aswami Ariffin, Senior Vice President of Cyber Security Responsive Service Division and Megat Muazzam Abdul Mutalib, Head of Computer (MyCERT) Emergency Response Team represented CyberSecurity Malaysia. Dr Aswami and Megat Muazzam presented a research paper on "Cyber Threats Incident Response Model for CNII Organisations".

In this conference, CyberSecurity Malaysia promote its credibility as an expert agency in cybersecurity field and strengthen bilateral cooperation with the industry.

1st Digital Forensics Workgroup Meeting, Asian Forensics Sciences Network, Beijing, China

 

On 17 to 19 June 2019, CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in 1st Digital Forensics Workgroup Meeting, Asian Forensics Sciences Network in Beijing, China.

Digital Forensics Workgroup meeting organised by Institute of Forensic Science, Ministry of Public Security of China Republic held to identify challenges, latest trend in digital forensic cases and analyse cases.

Mohd Zabri Adil Talib, Head of Digital Forensic and Tajul Josalmin Tajul Ariffin, Operation Manager of Digital Forensic Department, represented CyberSecurity Malaysia. In this programme, Zabri presented on "Cryptocurrencies: An Exposure to Fraud, Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Risk" while Tajul on "Digital Forensics Competency and Capacity Building".

CyberSecurity Malaysia involvement, especially Digital Forensic Department in Digital Forensics Workgroup, AFSN is in line with vision and CyberSecurity mission Malaysia to ensure this organisation a Digital Forensics reference centre at the international level and strengthen functional relationship between the enforcement team and laboratory member in Asia.

Data-Driven Cybersecurity Roundtable Discussion, Cyberjaya

 

On 17 June 2019, CyberSecurity Malaysia, in cooperation with Tech Titan Sdn Bhd and Cyber Stellar organised Data-Driven Cyber Security Roundtable Discussion with the industry partners at Menara Cyber Axis, Cyberjaya.

This seminar is an initiative under CyberSecurity Collaboration Program (CCP) programme to spur local cybersecurity industry.

Dato's Ts. Dr Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer, CyberSecurity Malaysia, launched the seminar and it was attended by more than 60 representatives from the industry. There were 2 roundtable discussions with the industry partners which discuss topics such as "Machine Learning New Era Security Analyst" and "Using AI for a Unified Security Analytics Platform".

CyberSecurity Malaysia obtained positive feedback from the industry about the idea to strengthen local cybersecurity industry programme which allows industry partners and CyberSecurity Malaysia to establishing relationship in information security.

Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Capture the Flag (CTF) Event, Perth, Australia

 

On 24 to 27 June 2019 CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Capture the Flag (CTF) competition in Perth, Australia.

Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) organized ASEAN CTF Competition and it was participated by 10 ASEAN countries. It is a platform to test Incident response capability and cyber incident prevention to all Computer Emergency Response team.

Fathi Kamil Bin Mohad Zainuddin, Mohd Hafiz Bin Mat Tabrani and Muhammad Hafizuddin Bin Sharul Lazi from Malaysia Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCERT) represented CyberSecurity Malaysia. CyberSecurity Malaysia emerged champion in "Capture The Flag" and recognized globally. YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Communication and Multimedia Malaysia, congratulated CyberSecurity Malaysia for achievement.

CyberSecurity Malaysia participation in this event strengthen Malaysia’s position as an expert country in cybersecurity.
