Qatar First Technical Colloquium, Doha

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended Doha FIRST Colloquium (TC) Technical 2019 in SAMECA region in Al Messila Resort & Spa, Doha, Qatar on 1 to 2 December 2019 organized by Qatar CERT.

This is a discussion and partnership platforms between FIRST member and non-member on cybersecurity incidents relating to incident response operation and security forces.

Sharifuddin bin Sulaman from International Engagement Department represented CyberSecurity Malaysia in this colloquium. He is a permanent Secretariat for Organization Islamic Cooperation-Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) and Chairman of Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT).

In this colloquium, CyberSecurity Malaysia increased cooperative relationship between FIRST, Qatar CERT, and Qatar government as Permanent OIC-CERT Secretariat and APCERT Chairman.

Modular Professional Certification Launching Event, KISMEC Sungai Petani

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia launched Modular Professional Certification Northern Zone at Kedah Industrial Skills and Management Development Centre (KISMEC), Sungai Petani Kedah on 4 December 2019 co-organized by CyberSecurity Malaysia, Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK), Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) and KISMEC to promote Cyber Security Modular Professional Certification program in Northern Zone.

152 participants from various agencies, organizations, and KISMEC attended the ceremony to learn on capacity development.

This ceremony aims to promote Modular Professional Certification Northern Zone, Global Accredited Cyber Security Professional Certification Scheme or "Global ACE Certification" extensively with Kedah State Government's towards strengthening ICT development.

5th Annual Coordination Meeting Of The OIC Institutions (ACMOI) 2019

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended Annual Coordination Meeting of the OIC Institutions (ACMOI) 2019 in Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Head Quarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on 4 to 5 December 2019 to implement OIC resolution and decision to avoid overlapping and achieve implementation synergy.

Ts. Dr. Zahri bin Yunos, Chief Operating Officer, and Mohd Shamir bin Hashim, Senior Vice President, International, and Government Engagement represented CyberSecurity Malaysia at this meeting. 18 OIC affiliated institutions (including OIC-CERT) agreed to review the progress of 2019 activities.

In ACMOI, CyberSecurity Malaysia increased its reputation among OIC members from various international institutions. As a Permanent OIC-CERT Secretariat, CyberSecurity Malaysia contributed in drafting OIC-CERT implementation plan parallel to 2026 OIC STI Agenda.

2nd Cloud Guideline Workshop, Bangi Resort Hotel, Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia organized 2nd Cloud Guideline Workshop in Bangi Hotel Resort, Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor on 5 December 2019.

In this workshop, Malaysia Security Evaluation Facility Department (MySEF) aims to discuss complete cloud computing safety guidelines for all departments, public and private sectors.

20 participants from 13 agencies, including CyberSecurity Malaysia gained knowledge on improved public computing safety guidelines to be circulated to civilians to gather feedback before finalizing.

CyberSecurity Malaysia aims to ensure the public and private sectors use cloud computing service safely to prevent security issues like data collision.

Working Visit From Vietnam Agencies To CyberSecurity Malaysia, Cyberjaya

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia welcomed a visit from various agencies from Dong Nai, Vietnam at Menara Cyber Axis, Cyberjaya on 6 December 2019.

The delegates gained knowledge from CyberSecurity Malaysia’s experience in e-commerce operation and develop mutual understanding in cyber security field.

Ismamuradi Bin Abdul Kadir, Head of Strategic Management Department, briefed the delegates on function, role, and CyberSecurity Malaysia services followed with a meeting to extend bilateral cooperation between Malaysia – Vietnam.

In this visit, CyberSecurity Malaysia strengthened cooperative bonding in diverse cyber security fields including e-commerce and e-economy.

Modular Professional Certification Launching Event, Hilton Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia launched Modular Professional Certification at Hilton Hotel, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on 8 December 2019 co-organized by CyberSecurity Malaysia, Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK), Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) and Sabah State Government to promote Cyber Security Modular Professional Certification program in Sabah.

200 participants from various agencies and organizations attended the opening ceremony that was officiated by YB Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau, Sabah Deputy Chief Minister.

CyberSecurity Malaysia through Modular Professional Certification, assisted Sabah State Government to strengthen cybersecurity from cyber threats and develop a superior cybersecurity technology hub in Borneo.

Smart Campus Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) Secretariat Workshop With CyberSecurity Malaysia)

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended Smart Campus Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) Secretariat Workshop at Pekan, Pahang on 4 to 8 November 2019 organized by UMP Information and Communication Technology Department to increase collaboration on researches, development and evaluation on cyber security, Artificial Intelligence, SmartCard, Drones,Biometric and Cloud Services.

Ts Dr Solahuddin Shamsuddin, Chief Technological Officer and a representative from Malaysian Security Evaluation Facility (MySEF) represented CyberSecurity Malaysia to promote its services and support the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia initiatives to explore advanced technology.

Internal Audit At Oman Cert, Oman

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia conducted an internal audit on (Oman-CERT) in Oman on 14 to 19 December 2019 as a requested by Oman National Digital Forensics Laboratory (NDFL) to ensure it adheres to IEC / ISO 17025:2017 standards.

Sarah Khadijah Taylor, Mohd Firham Efendy Binti Md Senan, and Fauzi bin Mohd Darus from Digital Forensic Department represented CyberSecurity Malaysia.

This internal audit uphold CyberSecurity Malaysia’s credibility and create collaborative opportunity with Oman CERT.

ASEAN Cyber Capacity Development Project (ACCDP) Workshop, Singapore

 

International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) organized ASEAN Cyber Capacity Development Project (ACCDP) Kickoff Workshop & ACCDP Drafting Workshop at INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI), Singapore on 16 – 20 December 2019,

The ASEAN Cyber Capacity Development Project – Phase 2 (ACCDP 2) was officially announced on 15 October 2019. This project strengthened the ability of countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to combat cybercrime and work together as a region. The project also fostered regional strategic discussion, identifies trends and provides a foundation for improved information exchange.

Comprising all 10 ASEAN member countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam), the project was initially funded for two years (2016-2018) by the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) 2.0, via the ASEAN Secretariat and with the Singapore Ministry of Home Affairs as the project proponent

Ismamuradi Bin Abdul Kadir (Head of Strategy Management) represented CyberSecurity Malaysia and contributed input to guide the development of cybercrime strategy guidebook, share challenges, requirements and success stories on cybersecurity development strategy in Malaysia. This develops CyberSecurity Malaysia’s branding internationally.

International Cyber Shield 2019, Turkey

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in International Cyber Shield 2019 in Information and Communications Technologies Authority (ICTA) Headquarters, Ankara, Turkey on 17 to 22 December 2019 organized Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Information and Communications Technologies Authority, and Turkey (ICTA) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

This international cybersecurity exercise aimed to increase ability and cooperation in cyber reaction capacity to understand cyber incident effects.

11 staff from Malaysia Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCERT) represented CyberSecurity Malaysia and participated in simulation analysis to reduce cyber-attack probability.

CyberSecurity Malaysia were exposed on cyber threat mitigation which involves critical infrastructural country like power grid, data center and sensitive computer system and opportunity to reduce gap between operations department CERT activities.

12th International Conference On Computer Science And Information Technology (ICCSIT 2019), Barcelona, Spain

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended 12th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (ICCSIT 2019) in Barcelona of University, Spain on 18 to 20 December 2019, organized by the International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology (IACIST).

This is a platform for researchers to present papers and learn latest development in Applied Mathematics (one of them is cryptography), Science Computing, and System engineering.

Ts. Dr. Solahuddin bin Shamsudin, Chief Technology Officer, Wan Zariman bin Omar and Abdul Alif bin Zakaria from Cryptography Development Department represented CyberSecurity Malaysia and delivered a presentation entitled "Findings Annihilator (s) via Fault Injection Analysis (FIA) on Boolean Function of LILI 128" and "Secure Information Hiding Based on Random Similar Bit Mapping."

CyberSecurity Malaysia gained knowledge on latest research on the importance of science and mathematics and cryptography in information security and cyber world.

Visit From Havelsan, Turki, Menara Cyber Axis, CyberSecurity Malaysia

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia welcomed a visit from Havelsan, a Turkey company at Menara Cyber Axis, Cyberjaya on 19 December 2019 to learn CyberSecurity Malaysia services and develop between CyberSecurity Malaysia and Havelsan.

Prof. Dr. Haci Ali Mantar, Havelsan Chairman, led the delegates who were welcomed by Chairman of Board of Directors, CyberSecurity Malaysia, YABhg. Tan Sri Dato's Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi bin Mohamed (Retired).

Mohd Shamir bin Hashim, Senior Vice President, briefed the delegates on CyberSecurity Malaysia role as an agency mandated by Government to lead cyber field security in Malaysia.

This visit strengthened CyberSecurity Malaysia cooperation with Havelsan company in cybersecurity expertise and capital development for upcoming projects.
