1st Meeting Of The Joint Russian-Malaysian Commission On Economic, Scientific, Technical And Cultural Cooperation, Moscow, Russia

 

On 29 September to 4 October 2019, CyberSecurity Malaysia attended Commission Russia – Malaysia 1st Meeting on economic cooperation, scientific, technical and culture in Moscow, Russia organised by Ministry of Economic Affairs Malaysia (MEA) and Ministry of Economic Development Republic of Russia.

It aims to leverage cooperation between Malaysia and Russia in the following fields; aerospace, defence, information and communication technology, digital innovation and development, and cybersecurity.

YB Dato' Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Minister of Economic Affairs (MEA) Malaysia led the delegates from Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), Ministry of Primary Industries, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and CyberSecurity Malaysia. Ismamuradi Abdul Kadir, Head of Strategic Management Department represented CyberSecurity Malaysia.

In this meeting, CyberSecurity increased international reputation whilst supporting the ministry to provide excellent services and bilateral relations between two countries.

CyberSecurity Alliance for Mutual Progress (CAMP) 4th Annual General Meeting And The Global CyberSecurity Centre for Development (GCCD) Seminar, South Korea

 

On 30 September to 4 October 2019, CyberSecurity Malaysia attended 4th CyberSecurity Alliance for Mutual Progress (CAMP) Annual General meeting and CyberSecurity Centre for Development (GCCD) Conference in Seoul, South Korea organised by Ministry of Science and ICT and Korea Internet and Security Agency, of Republic Korea.

This is a cooperative bonding platform for 59 organisations from 45 countries to overcome challenges in cyberspace through capacity development and information sharing that are effective and collective towards cyber threat. CAMP Annual Meeting also took place to appoint CAMP Secretariat for 2019-2022 term and CAMP Operation Steering committee for 2019-2020.

Ahmad Nasir Udin Mohd Zin, from International Engagement Department represented CyberSecurity Malaysia and attended both meetings and CAMP Conference. CyberSecurity Malaysia learnt "Security Data Analysis in Network Perspective", visited ISEC Exhibition 2019 and networked with other members.

CyberSecurity Malaysia also understood cyber security landscape in other states, besides learning the technology and cyber security protection services offered by Korean Republic which CyberSecurity Malaysia can adapt.

International Common Criteria Conference 2019, Singapore

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended International Common Criteria Conference (ICCC) 2019 on 1st to 3rd October 2019 in Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre, Singapore organised by Singapore Cyber Security Agency (CSA).

ICCC is a network platform which includes technical meetings, assessments and collaboration opportunities among countries on security issue and safety assessment for IT products improvement.

Nur Lylia Roslan and Noraziah Anini Mohd Rashid represented CyberSecurity Malaysia and delivered a presentation titled "In Search of the Golden Finger: A Malaysian Biometric Evaluation Chicken-Soup Story".

In this conference, CyberSecurity Malaysia promoted trainings for other CC laboratory as a referral laboratory for new establishment and new CC schemes like Singapore, Indonesia, India and UAE. It also gained knowledge on Security Research and Cloud Computing Competency Development and Smart Card reader production and report.

Total Security Conference 2019, Kuala Lumpur

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended Total Security Conference 2019, on 1 October 2019 in Hotel Park Royal, Kuala Lumpur organised by Questex Asia.

It aims to develop mind culture thinking, training source and skills enhancement in battling with the cyber threat, besides introducing testing instruments and penetration whilst building cybersecurity infrastructure in the future.

Ts. Dr. Solahuddin Shamsuddin, Chief Technology Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia was invited to deliver a presentation titled "Creating A Robus CyberSecurity Infrastructure: Predictive and Pre-emptive and Note Just Defensive Mechanism".

CyberSecurity Malaysia participation has strengthened its position as an expert agency in this field apart from establishing a communication network with international delegates.

International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Meeting, Geneva, Switzerland

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended International Telecommunication Union Meeting (ITU) on 6 to 12 October 2019 in Geneva, Switzerland organised by International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

ITU shares its programme, direction and assessment according to Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) to 50 delegations from various member countries such as, United States of America (US), United Kingdom (UK), Japan, Korea, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Iran, Nigeria, Kenya and others

The delegates were exposed to three main agenda namely national-level partnership programme by member countries, assessment according to Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) 2019-2020 and ITU programme on cybersecurity.

In this meeting, CyberSecurity Malaysia understood GCI assessment 2019-2020 and identified various cybersecurity programme parallel to GCI standards to improve Malaysia's position from GCI assessment 2018.

10th Cyber Defense Summit (CDS) 2019, Washington DC, USA

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended 10th Cyber Defense Summit 2019 on 7 to 11 October 2019 in Washington DC, United States of America organised by FireEye.

Ts. Dr. Zahri Yunos, Chief Operations Officer and Ts. Dr. Asmawi Ariffin, Senior Vice President, Cyber Security Responsive Service Division represented CyberSecurity Malaysia and delivered presentations on CyberSecurity Malaysia services and "CyberDEF" project which won an innovation award from FireEye in 2015.

The presentation includes CyberSecurity Malaysia’s experience in conducting cyber security operational activities to face threats in the country and CMERP that aims to be implemented throughout the country in CNII organisation to prevent advanced ‘malware’ threat.

In this summit, CyberSecurity Malaysia networked to strengthen regional ties throughout the world in order to gain technical knowledge and expertise.

World Trustmark Alliance (WTA) Annual Meeting, Shenzhen

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in World Trustmark Alliance Annual Meeting (WTA) on 14 to 16 October 2019 organised by Shenzhen E-Business Better Service (EBS) in Shenzhen, China.

WTA meeting ensures commitment from Trustmark operators from 30 countries to discuss WTA administration, website management and selection and appointment of WTA Chairman for 2020-2021.

Wan Shafiuddin Zainudin and Hasnida Zainuddin from Information Security Certification Body represented CyberSecurity Malaysia and delivered a presentation entitled "Cyber Security International Development and Benchmark".

As WTA member, CyberSecurity Malaysia strengthened ties with other members , learnt latest technology development and current Malaysian Trustmark issues on services, privacy, e-commerce and online transactions.

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 27 Meeting, Paris, France

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 27 Meeting on 14 to 18 October 2019, in Paris organised by Association Française de Normalisation (AFNOR).

It aims to update ISO documents based on international experts comments and collect experts vote or agreement on any issues related to ISO document.

11 delegates from Malaysia attended this meeting and CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Ts. Dr. Maslina Daud, Senior Vice President, Cyber Security Proactive Service and Siti Fatimah Abidin, from Malaysia Security Evaluation Facility Department.

In this meeting, CyberSecurity Malaysia assisted certification bodies for preliminary preparation in implementing privacy certification based on IEC / ISO 27701. It also gained knowledge on Security research and Cloud Computing Competency processes development together with Smart Card and Reader.

2019 South East Asia Regional Nuclear Security Technical Exchange Meeting, Bangkok, Thailand

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended 2019 Southeast Asia Nuclear Technical Exchange Regional Meeting on 14 to 18 October 2019, in Bangkok, Thailand organised by Malaysia Nuclear Agency with United States Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE / NNSA) and Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology with Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP)'s cooperation.

This meeting attended by several agencies including CyberSecurity Malaysia, represented by Noor Azwa Azreen from Strategic Research and Advisories Department, aims to identify new methods to mitigate nuclear risks that are apparent now.

This meeting portrays CyberSecurity Malaysia’s commitment in addressing issues related to national cyber security and critical sector such as nuclear energy through information sharing and good relationship to produce a Nuclear Cyber Security Plan, besides promoting Malaysia Vulnerable Assessment Centre service and using CyberSecurity Malaysia services to conduct cybersecurity ‘drill’ and 'penetration testing'.

Introduction to IT Security & Awareness Training, Malaysia Correctional Institution, Tanjung Kling, Melaka

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia delivered a talk on Information Technology Awareness and Security Training programme, on 15 October 2019 in Correctional Institute Malaysia at Tanjung Kling, Malacca organised by Malaysian Prison Department.

This programme aims to inculcate security awareness through modules, among Information Technology users and officers.

Muhammad Syahmi Zulkefle and Mohd Faizal Sulong from ICS Unit, in Malaysia Vulnerability Assessment Centre represented CyberSecurity Malaysia to conduct training modules which consist of IT awareness, security and practical training.

As speakers, CyberSecurity Malaysia share its expertise and spread knowledge on IT awareness and security to be applied in the public and private sectors. CyberSecurity Malaysia also actively support the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia, government agencies and Malaysian Prison Department to provide latest information to the general public.

Panelist At GovInsider 2019, Bangkok, Thailand

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended GovInsider Live Conference, as a panellist, on 15 to 16 October 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand.

This annual conference gathers innovators and global agencies across sectors; financial, technology, education, health, transport and infrastructure, to share knowledge Information Technology between the government specifically public sectors in Asia Pacific region.

Various agencies from Thailand and Asia Pacific region attended this conference. CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by Wan Zulhamli Wan Abdul Rahman, Head of Strategic Research and Advisories Department. He moderated and deliberated on cybersecurity approach in digital technology modernization initiative.

Through this conference, CyberSecurity Malaysia took strategic approach in the cyber security aspect to establish regional ties within Asia Pacific and network through Southeast Asia.

Collaboration Initiative With Russian Cybersecurity Companies, Moscow, Russia

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended meetings with Russian Cybersecurity Companies, on 15 to 20 October 2019 at Russia, Moscow organised by Technological Sovereignty Exports Association.

It aims to discuss Memorandum of Understanding that was signed on 12 September 2019 in Kuala Lumpur and to identify directions of CyberSecurity Malaysia and Technological Sovereignty Exports Association, alongside developing cooperation between Malaysia and Russia on cyber security programme in the government, university and Russian companies.

Dato's Ts. Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer and Roshdi Haji Ahmad, Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategic& Industrial Affair Division represented CyberSecurity Malaysia.

In these meetings, CyberSecurity Malaysia established cooperation in Technical Scientific Economic and Cultural Engagement.

10TH International Conference on ICT Convergence (ICTC 2019), Jeju Island, South Korea

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia delivered a presentation at the 10TH International Conference on ICT Convergence on 16 to 18 October at Jeju Island, South Korea organised by The Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences (KICS).

This is a platform for researchers, industrialist and academicians to gather and update on latest development in Convergence of new industry-related information and communication technology.

Ts. Mohd Zabri Adil Talib and Nur Afifah Mohd Saupi from Digital Forensic Department represented CyberSecurity Malaysia and delivered a scientific research paper titled "Endpoint Detection and Response: Why Use Machine Learning?".

In this conference, Digital Forensic Department researched on Machine Learning to develop an Endpoint Detection and Response system to identify cyber-attack in electronic device especially in computer network system.

APEC Workshop, Hanoi, Vietnam

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) workshop, on 22 to 23 October 2019, in Hanoi, Vietnam organised by Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and Ministry of Industry and Trade Vietnam.

This is a knowledge-sharing platform to elaborate on e-commerce, trade and challenges to understand digital development status to create new policies on digital economy facilitation.

Ismamuradi Abdul Kadir, Head of Strategic Management Department represented CyberSecurity Malaysia as panellist to discuss Digital Economy: Increasing Trust and Data Privacy.

In this workshop CyberSecurity Malaysia learnt to improve service quality to further strengthen CyberSecurity Malaysia position internationally. CyberSecurity Malaysia also formed a cooperation network and offered its services to other countries.

Talk At Management & Science University (MSU), Shah ALam, Selangor

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia delivered a talk at Management & Science University (MSU), Shah Alam on 24 October 2019, organised by MSU Faculty of Business study and Professional Research.

It aims to create awareness among students on the significance of information technology in human resource management.

Ts. Dr. Solahuddin Shamsuddin, Chief Technology Officer represented CyberSecurity Malaysia and delivered a presentation entitled "Importance of Information Technology in Human Resource Department".

CyberSecurity Malaysia introduced its products and services in this talk, alongside creating awareness on the importance of cyber security.

Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit 2019, UAE

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended 2019 Gartner Security Risk Management Summit, on 28 to 30 October 2019, at Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) organised by Abyres Sdn. Bhd.

This summit provides an opportunity to develop standard vision, framework and guideline on advanced cyber security.

Ts. Dr. Aswami Ariffin, Senior Vice President, Cyber Security Responsive Services (CSRS) represented Cyber Security Malaysia and delivered a presentation on CyberSecurity operational activities in Malaysia to overcome cyber threats.

In this conference, CyberSecurity Malaysia strengthened bilateral relationship with the industry and uphold its reputation as an expert agency in this field.

Arab Regional Cybersecurity Summit, FIRST & ITU-ARCC Regional Symposium & 11th OIC Cert Annual Conference, Muscat, Oman

 

CyberSecurity Malaysia attended Arab Regional Cybersecurity Summit, FIRST & ITU-ARCC Regional Symposium & 11th OIC Cert Annual Conference on 27 to 30 October at Muscat, Oman organised by Regional Cybersecurity Center ITU-Arab, supported by Organisation of Islamic Cooperation - Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) and hosted by Oman Ministry of Technology & Communication.

Regional Cybersecurity Week 2019 include 8th CyberSecurity Regional Summit, FIRST Symposium & ARCC ITU and 11th OIC-CERT Annual Conference, 7th regional Cyber Training, and OIC-CERT Board Meeting.

The conference theme "Cybersecurity Revolution" aims to leverage information sharing channel and discuss cybersecurity current issues for member countries to identify strategic directions and challenges.

General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Panglima Mohd Azumi Mohamed (Bersara), Chairman of Board of Directors, CyberSecurity Malaysia and Ts. Dr. Zahri Yunos, Chief Operations Officer represented CyberSecurity Malaysia. In the conference, Tan Sri Azumi delivered a presentation on "Cyber Security Challenges in the 4th Industrial Revolution" and became a panel for "Regional and International Cybersecurity Cooperation" session while Dr Zahri became a panel for "Cybersecurity in 4IR: Reaping Benefits and Mitigating Drawbacks" in FIRST Symposium & ARCC ITU and OIC CERT 11th Annual Conference.

CyberSecurity Malaysia strengthened cooperative relationship at international level and played crucial role in cybersecurity field and appointed as OIC CERT permanent in 2013.
