MOCK COMPETITION OF NATIONAL ICT SECURITY DISCOURSE CYBERSAFE TM CHALLENGE CUP (VIRTUAL DISCOURSE)

 

On 4th May 2021, CyberSecurity Malaysia in collaboration with the Education Resources and Technology Division (BSTP), Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) organised a mock competition session for the National ICT Security Discourse CyberSAFE TM Challenge Trophy, also known as NICTSeD.

This year, NICTSeD 2021 will be conducted virtually due to current Covid-19 pandemic across Malaysia. This new approach is implemented to ensure safety of the participants as well as continuity of the competition. As an effort to break the Covid-19 chain, this discourse will be conducted virtually in comply with the SOPs set by the government.

Three schools participated in this virtual mock competition to discuss related cyber security topics. The schools are Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Lembah Keramat from Selangor, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Al-Irshad from Penang and Sekolah Menengah Sains Tuanku Aisyah Rohani from Negeri Sembilan.

Apart from introducing the participants to new competition method, this mock competition aims to assist technical committee to identify errors and correct procedure to be implemented during the actual competition later.

COMMON CRITERIA ARRANGEMENT (CCRA) MEETING 2021

 

On 10th to 12th May 2021, CyberSecurity Malaysia attended the Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement (CCRA) Meeting 2021, online, organised by the Common Criteria Development Board (CCDB) and the Common Criteria Executive Subcommittee (CCES).

This meeting discussed issues on certification, Common Criteria standards, operation of CCRA members as well as the appointment of new CCES chairman and volunteers to organize another meeting that will be held in September 2021.

Rob Huisman (Netherland) and Tunga Gokhun (Turkey) chaired the meeting, assisted by Yvette Bodaar (Turkey). At the same time, the council members agreed to appoint Wan Shafiuddin bin Zainudin from Malaysia as the new chairman of CCES for two years starting 2021.

CyberSecurity Malaysia's participation in the CCRA emphasizes Malaysia’s high international security standards for ICT products and promote Malaysian products in foreign market share abroad.

THE LAUNCHING CEREMONY OF NATIONAL ICT SECURITY DISCOURSE CYBERSAFE TM CHALLENGE CUP (VIRTUAL DISCOURSE)

 

On 27th May 2021, National ICT Discourse Competition CyberSAFETM Challenge Trophy 2021 or NICTSeD 2021 (Virtual Discourse) was launched.

NICTSeD 2021 competition will be conducted virtually through the GoToWebinar platform and will be broadcasted via Selangor State Education Department’s, YouTube channel.

The launching ceremony aims to inform the public about NICTSeD 2021 and introduce the new format for participants to implement during the competition.

230 participants including Head Coach from each state in Malaysia participated in this ceremony. Director of Educational Resources and Technology Division (BSTP), Puan Maznah binti Abu Bakar and Lt Col Mustaffa Ahmad (Retired), Senior Vice President, Outreach and Capacity Building Division on behalf of CyberSecurity Malaysia participated in this launch.

NICTSeD 2021 is an ongoing activity under the CyberSAFETM program to increase awareness among the public on the importance of personal safety in cyberspace towards new norms that impact the numbers of Internet and technology utilization, especially among students.

‘CRYPTOCURRENCIES INVESTIGATION FROM AUSTRALIA’S PERSPECTIVE’ SEMINAR

 

On 31st May 2021, CyberSecurity Malaysia in collaboration with the National Financial Crime Center organised a cryptocurrency investigation seminar through Zoom.

This seminar aims to unravel questions and confusion in the investigation of cryptocurrencies as well as to conduct comparative studies with other countries regarding the investigation and prosecution process of cryptocurrency cases.

The Attorney General's Chambers, Inland Revenue Board, Malaysian Anti -Corruption Commission (MACC), Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and Securities Commission Malaysia also attended the seminar which was officiated by YBhg Dato' Seri Mustafar Bin Ali, Director of the Financial Crime Prevention Center National (NFCC).

The involvement of CyberSecurity Malaysia in this seminar strengthens its credibility and capability as a technical expert in cyber security industry. Indirectly, this develops Malaysia’s capacity in improving the quality of cryptocurrency regulation.
