SIBERKASA OJT KICK-OFF DAY LAUNCHING CEREMONY, CYBER AXIS TOWER, CYBERJAYA

 

On 1 November 2021, Pemulih SiberKASA OJT Kick-Off Day was held, at Menara Cyber Axis, Cyberjaya.

This is CyberSecurity Malaysia's initiative through Pemulih SiberKASA: Cybersecurity Upskilling Training Program for individuals affected by COVID-19 pandemic to improve their skills and competencies in the field of cyber security through on job training sessions.

Apart from providing career opportunities, this program produce a competent cyber security workforce to meet the needs of various industries and even support the development of cyber security to remain resilient.

The event was officiated YBhg. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab FASc, Chief Executive Officer, CyberSecurity Malaysia. Total of 120 industry partners and participants attended the ceremony physically while 86 participants attended online.

MEMORANDUM SIGNING CEREMONY OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN CYBERSECURITY MALAYSIA & UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MARA (UiTM), MENARA CYBER AXIS, CYBERJAYA

 

On 8 November 2021, CyberSecurity Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to establish cooperation through cyber security training to UiTM students and staff highlighting the risks, threats, exposure and best practices in cyber security.

The ceremony was officiated by YBhg. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab FASc, Chief Executive Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia and YBhg. Professor Ts. Dr. Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor, Vice Chancellor of UiTM.

This collaboration covers introduction of digital security and privacy certification services based on international standards and guidelines under the supervision of the Information Security Certification Body. The scope of the project is as follow.

  • Digital Security & Privacy Training
  • Open Source Intelligence Training
  • Behavioral Competency Assessment
  • Red Teaming Exercise

Through this collaboration, a total of 200 participants are targeted to follow the identified programs and subsequently succeed in becoming competent experts in the field of cyber security. In addition, it improves aspects of service delivery to a higher level through a process of continuous improvement by focusing on improving human capital expertise and strengthening students' skills to meet "future job skills demand" as stated in the World Economic Forum 2030.

GLOBAL ACE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM COLLABORATION DISCUSSION AND DELL NOTEBOOK PRESENTATION CEREMONY, CYBER AXIS TOWER, CYBERJAYA

 

On 15 November 2021, a collaborative discussion session on the Global ACE Certification Program was held at CyberSecurity Malaysia.

This discussion session highlighted follow-up actions on cybersecurity research and development between CyberSecurity Malaysia and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). CyberSecurity Malaysia provided several laptops to UTHM for this purpose. The meeting also discussed CSM-UTHM collaboration on the Global ACE Certification program.

CyberSecurity Malaysia was represented by YBrs. Ts Dr Zahri Yunos, Chief Operating Officer while Universiti Tun Hussen Onn Malaysia was represented by Dr Chuah Chai Wen.

This cooperation has strengthened strategic cooperation and research in the field of cybersecurity between the two organisations.

MALAYSIA FINANCIAL CRIME PREVENTION CONFERENCE 2021 (MFCPC’21), HOTEL EVERLY, PUTRAJAYA

 

On 15 to 17 November 2021, there is a Malaysian Financial Crime Prevention Conference 2021 (MFCPC’21) entitled “Cryptocurrencies in Digital Economy: Digital Crime Opportunity - What Needs to Be Done?” the first financial crime prevention conference in Malaysia.

This conference which was jointly organised by CyberSecurity Malaysia and National Financial Crime Prevention Center (NFCC) was attended by 80 participants from 24 enforcement agencies in Malaysia.

YBhg. Tan Sri Abu Kassim bin Mohamed, Chairman of the Advisory Board, NFCC delivered a speech then officiated the conference.

The objective of this conference is to enhance the knowledge and skills of Law Enforcement Officers in Malaysia besides making this conference as a platform to discuss methods to reduce and prevent financial crime and discuss policy improvement, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and regulatory framework gaps in financial crime investigation in Malaysia.

WORKING VISIT AND DISCUSSION ON COOPERATION BETWEEN CYBER SECURITY MALAYSIA AND UNIVERSITI TEKNIKAL MALAYSIA MELAKA (UTeM), MENARA CYBER AXIS, CYBERJAYA

 

On 17 November 2021, CyberSecurity Malaysia received a visit from Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) to discuss competency development and research in the field of crypto and big data analytics.

The visit was led by YBhg. Prof. Datuk Dr. Shahrin bin Sahib and they visited the laboratory in CyberSecurity Malaysia, followed by a discussion on the following.

  • UTeMCysCC/Cyber Range
  • GlobalACE - Industry Recognized Micro -Credential program
  • IDEAKU Project
  • Big Data in Cybersecurity and Forensics
This working visit has been able to further strengthen the cooperation between the two organisatios in the field of cybersecurity as well as strengthen the existing cooperation relationship between CyberSecurity Malaysia and Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka.

DIGITAL FORENSICS WORKING GROUP WORKSHOP, PUTRAJAYA

 

On 22 November 2021, CyberSecurity Malaysia organised a Digital Forensics Working Group (KKFD) Workshop in Putrajaya to gather digital forensic laboratory officers as well as investigating officers from various enforcement agencies.

This  workshop  participated by 65 participants from 15 agencies, is a platform to exchange information in the field of cyber crime and digital evidence, discuss the direction of KKFD and identify challenges each agency need to overcome.

Various activities were conducted to increase knowledge on digital forensic advancements and challenges in Malaysia. Among them were the Plenary Session '8 Pillars of Forensic Conduct from Crime Scene to Court', Knowledge Sharing Session and also the Digital Forensic Working Group Annual Meeting 2021 chaired by Superintendent Muhammad Zulkifli bin Mohd Isa from the Royal Malaysian Police.

This cooperation create a safe environment for Malaysians in the cyber world from elements of crime and misconduct.

13TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF THE ORGANISATION OF ISLAMIC COOPERATION - COMPUTER EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (OIC-CERT)

 

On 23 to 24 November 2021, the 13th Annual Conference of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation - Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) was held online.

The conference was jointly organised by the CyberSecurity Malaysia, the National CyberSecurity Authority (NCA) - Saudi Arabia, the Permanent Secretariat of the OIC-CERT, and the Oman Computer Emergency Response Team (OCERT). The event is also a joint event between the OIC-CERT and the ITU-Arab Regional Cybersecurity Center.

At the conference, 16 speakers and moderators, who are experts and professionals in the cybersecurity industry, presented papers and exchanged ideas on latest cyber threats. A total of 545 participants attended this online conference.

The 13th Annual Conference of OIC-CERT 2021 has further strengthened cooperation between Malaysia and other countries internationally as well as highlight Malaysia’s role and contribution in the field of cybersecurity to the OIC member countries and the Asia Pacific countries.

CYBER FORENSIC COLLOQUIUM 2021, HOTEL EVERLY, PUTRAJAYA

 

On 22 November 2021, Digital Forensic Research Association organised a hybrid event Cyber Forensic Colloquium 2021 to encourage information exchange among academics and industry experts on digital forensics research and development.

YBrs. Ts. Dr. Aswami Ariffin, Chairman of the Digital Forensic Research Association officiated the colloquium which was attended by 167 participants from various organizations. In that colloquium, the following papers were presented.

  1. “Standardizing Security Practice in Forensics State Analysis for Compromise Assessment to Rapidly Identify Adversarial Activity or Malicious Logic” by Encik Tajul Azhar Mohd Tajul Ariffin, lecturer at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
  2. “Facilitating the Development of the Next Generation of Forensic Scientists through Cyber Range Programs” by YBrs. Dr. Khairul Akram Zainol Ariffin, lecturer at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
  3. “Using Forensic Readiness and AI/ML with IoT Deployment to increase Public Safety in Cyberspace” by YBrs. Ir.Ts.Dr Fadhlan Hafizhelmi, Lecturer from Universiti Teknologi MARA.

At the end of the colloquium, a forum entitled "Cyber Forensics Innovation in Mitigating Future Sophisticated Attacks", was conducted to identify methods to address sophistication of future cyber attacks through cyber forensic innovation.
