The Social Security Organisation's website, which was hacked on Monday by an internet vandal calling himself Crime Lordz, has since been cleaned up.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr Fong Chan Onn said the website's systems administrators had removed unwanted material "planted" by the hacker, including "meaningless words and figures."

"The website is functioning without any glitches," he said to reporters after launching a seminar organised by the National Vocational Training Council yesterday.

Dr Fong said that in view of the incident, the Government had decided to install security measures costing about RM100,000 to protect the website from internet vandals.

"We will do the necessary to provide security so that the site cannot be entered into illegally," he added.

He also said it was unlikely the hacker had succeeded in 'lifting' material from the website.

"Investigations are underway to determine the identity and origin of the hacker. We have to trace the source and make sure the culprit is brought to book," Dr Fong added.
