Cybersecurity Malaysia Employees Receive ISLA Award

KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 (Bernama) - Five employees of CyberSecurity Malaysia, an agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, have been selected for the 2010 Asia-Pacific Information Security Leadership Achievements (ISLA) Award.

Their selection was made by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC) 2 Asian Advisory Board's ISLA Nomination Review Committee.

A statement released by CyberSecurity today said the five employees together with 16 other international honorees will receive their awards during a Gala Dinner and Ceremony to be held in Singapore this July 26.

Winning the awards under the Senior Information Security Professional category are CyberSecurity Malaysia Chief Operating Officer, Zahri Yunos; Head of Security Assurance Department, Lt. Col(Rtd) Asmuni Yusof; and Head of Security Management and Best Practices, Maslina Daud.

Meantime, the Head of CyberSecurity Research & Policy Division, Mohd Shamir Hashim will receive the award under the Managerial Professional on Information Security Project category, while the Head of Malaysian Common Criteria Certification Body (MyCB), Norhazimah Abdul Malek will be awarded under the Information Security Practitioner category.

The ISLA Program is held annually by The International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium or (ISC)2, in cooperation with the (ISC)2 Asian Advisory Board to recognise outstanding leadership and achievements in workforce improvement of information security professionals in the Asia-Pacific region.

Award winners are selected based on their improvement, leadership role, continuing involvement and distinctive achievement in their contributing areas.

This not only will boost the employees' self-esteem but also enhance the credibility of Malaysian professionals and practitioners in the field of Information Security," CyberSecurity Malaysia chief executive officer, Lt. Col Husin Jazri (Rtd) said in the statement.
